Under Siege : John Rottger

John Rottger

In 2012 I had the pleasure of meeting John Rottger, who plays the first man killed in the movie, Commander Green. He lives around Silverhill Alabama now and he added to his house and me and my friend did the Sheetrock work. When I first met him I walked up and said to him what Tommy Lee jones said to him in the movie. "It's a pleasure to meet you Commander Green." Then got his brains blown out. He laughed and said, "yeah, that was a long time ago." I stood there and talked to him for a minute and he said that was his first film gig and they called him and told him they had Steven Segal in this movie and wanted him(Rottger) to advise on the film. He said at the time I didn't know who the hell Steven Segal was. He said he was still active in the navy at that time and lived in the area, that's why they called him. Since then he had became a stuntman and has advised on a lot of movies. He also told me he and Tommy Lee jones are friends and they've worked together a lot. He also told me Steven Segal is a real *beep* I had to tell this story because meeting him was really cool. I knew who he was immediately because when I saw the movie as a kid, I remember feeling bad for him in the movie just getting blown away like that. But he was a real nice guy, you can definitely tell he was military. And he had a nice place to live too. He was happy with the Sheetrock work.
