Re: Is soda addictive?

I despise the soda issue.

It's a sign of being retarded in my opinion.

Soda is FLAVORED WATER.

My gf, who I love, hounds me about drinking soda. She reported, "There's all of these new flavored waters!!! Try them" and being a good person, I bought some different brands.

I looked at what they're made of that they are DIET SODA!!!!

They're just repacked to fool women who don't research anything into calling them water.

There is nothing addictive in sugar soda or diet.

Sugar is a nutrient your body needs and it is not addictive. Your body converts sugar into "glucose" which is where we get muscular energy and strength from. Just like any other food, too much turns to fat.

The caffeine in soda is about 50mg while coffee is 300mg, so soda is nothing.

The deal is that it tastes good and we want things that taste good, simple as that.

Re: Is soda addictive?

Soda is addictive because of caffeine. I know first hand, but I notice some differences. When I drank coffee M-F, I never got headaches on the weekend, but I was so lethargic.

About three years ago, I quit drinking Dr. Pepper regularly, and then would only get a 20 oz. when I'd order groceries. Sometimes because of circumstances like shopping, or being with certain people, if I go three days drinking just one 20oz, and then stop, within 48 hours, I'll have a migraine.

Re: Is soda addictive?

The caffiene is very small in soda though.

50mg is a very small amount and caffeine addiction is real but you must have constant caffeine and then when you REMOVE the caffeine amount then you get headaches, lethargy, etc.

Also, too much caffeine at once can exhaust the norepinephrine in your brain and make you tired. That happens to me if I drink coffee, it makes me tired.

I tend to be a very high energy person and stimulants make me tired not provide energy, unless it's a very high dosage of stimulant.

Maybe you're extra sensitive to it.

I get no stimulating response from soda. I could drink with caffeine or without and feel the same.

Re: Is soda addictive?

That makes caffeine addictive…not soda in general, An argument could also be made for the addictive qualities believed to be found in cane sugar. But all in all…soda by definition is not physically addictive. almost anything can be deemed a psychological addiction…which is a clear sign that its probably not LOL!

Re: Is soda addictive?

well, there is physical addiction and then there is psychological addiction, and many recovering heroin addicts say that after they've succesfully fight the physical withdrawal symtoms which is really only a matter of days, to fight the psychological withdrawal symptoms was so much harder and way more difficult than the few days, bc it takes years of resisting relapsing successfully before they can call themselves "clean". the addiction memory never forgets.
