One, Two, Three : In an updated version…..

In an updated version…..

The Iron Curtain has fallen, Germany is reunited, so how do you update this for the 21st century ?

In our politically correct society what "lifestyle" could "Otto" be persuaded to give up that wouldn't cause a huge discrimination backlash ?

Re: In an updated version…..

Maybe the daughter as a vegan with old hippie parents and she falls in love with a cattle rancher's son or something of that nature.
He has to give up meat.
Dunno, its kinda lame.

Re: In an updated version…..

Part of what was thrilling about One Two Three in 1961 is that we were all very worried about World War III. An updated version would have to be about an rich American Jewish girl in Israel marrying a Palistinian activist, or something equally alarming. You need the danger, or else it's just a silly comedy.

Re: In an updated version…..

Yes, there you go. To make it more like this one, make it a flippant American teen daughter of a big capitalist, hell it could still be Coca-Cola, marrying a member of Hamas and the film taking place in Jerusalem, which is as divided socio-politically now as Berlin was then, well probably even more so. Hamas is greatly vilified in western culture, and consists of a culturally anti-capitalist, anti-western, pro-authoritarian philosophy. I think such a setup would be as offensive and politically incorrect now as One, Two, Three was then.

Though I don't know if a remake would or could be pulled off.

Re: In an updated version…..

Buchholz plays that in Raid on Entebbe (1976).
