Owen Wilson : His Best Character

His Best Character

I have to say it's ROY O'BANNON from the Shanghai movies.
Agree?
If you haven't seen Shanghai Noon or Shanghai Knights, do yourself a favor and rent them or buy them, 'cause Owen steals the show both times.

Remember, I'm NOT saying that these are his best MOVIES (altough I might say as well) I'm saying that Roy is his best CHARACTER.

Re: His Best Character

I like the Shanghai movies, and Roy O'Bannon is a GREAT character, but for me, it's a toss-up between Dignan from Bottle Rocket, and Hansel from Zoolander. That said, I have liked almost every movie and every character he's done, even Vann in Minus Man.

"O.R. they?"

Re: His Best Character

either hansel or hutch from starsky and hutch

Re: His Best Character

Eli Cash (Royal Tenenbaums) And Dignan (Bottlerocket)...all the way. No contest.

Re: His Best Character

OH,man, how could I have forgotten Eli Cash??? Shame on me!

Re: His Best Character

Ned Plimpton in Life Aquatic. Hands down. No contest. For me. =)

Re: His Best Character

Funny thing about him. You think about any film and you end up thinking that's his best role. But his character in The Darjeeling Limited was a surprise - one of his best. Just his eyes while he unwraps his bandages and says he needs to heal some more - just great.

Re: His Best Character

Dignan (Bottle Rocket) followed by Eli Cash (The Royal Tenenbaums) & Vann (The Minus Man)

Re: His Best Character

My vote is for Dignan in Bottle Rocket. Second is Francis from Darjeeling Limited.

Re: His Best Character

Dignan easily.

Re: His Best Character

Gary Dixon- by far

Re: His Best Character

I love his characters in Wes Anderson's movies. My fave probably will be Dignan.

I don't do too much talking these days

Re: His Best Character

Hutch in obviously Starsky & Hutch. I've just seen The Minus Man and now I'd like to see Owen do more of a mixture of comedy/dramatic roles.

Re: His Best Character

Another vote for Ned Plimpton! Maybe because it's so different than all his other roles. He's usually very sarcastic and kind of loud...Ned is nothing like that at all.

Hansel is second...he's so hot right now.

Re: His Best Character

Coach in Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Re: His Best Character

The older brother character in Wes Anderson's Darjeeling Unlimited was spot on Wilson. After watching that, I'm definitly catching up on more Owen movies.

Re: His Best Character

I think it would either be Ned Plimpton from Life Aquatic because he made me want to jump into the screen and hug him, or Francis from The Darjeeling Limited just because he was so funny.

Re: His Best Character

I agree with both of those, Ned is so upright and kind and Francis is so emotionally vulnerable and funny. I also enjoy Dignan from Bottle Rocket for his enthusiasm. I also would give a special mention to Edward Appleby, the Rushmore alum who Miss Cross loved and who is never seen during the film, only as photographs of Owen. He was probably a great, adventurous spirit; even though you don't know him you wish you did.

Re: His Best Character

I vote Lightning, from Cars.

Re: His Best Character

I'm partial to Jack Ryan in The Big Bounce.

Re: His Best Character

I can understand that! His muscles look especially good in The Big Bounce, and his hair is so shiny blonde in the Hawaiian sunshine. When you see him in that movie you can understand why he liked it so much he bought a home there. And I love it when he's talking with Morgan Freeman before the domino game and he says "Sometimes, you get so lonely it just makes sense... does that make sense?" and Morgan Freeman says "HELL NO!"

Re: His Best Character

Dignan

Re: His Best Character

Dignan in "Bottle Rocket" for sure.

Re: His Best Character

Francis Whitman from The Darjeeling Limited

Re: His Best Character

Based on the Op's recommendation I'll be watching Shanghai Noon soon. Of the films I've seen with Owen his best character has been Dignan from Bottle Rocket. He's a melancholic character who provides most of the laughs in the film and really suited to Owen and vice versa.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.

Re: His Best Character

Enjoyed him playing John Grogan in Marley and Me and I really liked him playing Hutch!

Re: His Best Character

Dignan and Lightning McQueen
