Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

We had at least one of those things in the house so I owned one by default.

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

Yes!! I loved those albums.

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

in the early 70s.
These albums were covers of hit songs.
Not terrible, but not the best. Still, it was fun to send away for stuff and get it in the mail!

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

Ahhhh… Canadian.

As for the covers, I assumed that everyone knew that about those albums.
Everyone but 14 year old me back in 1970.
The moment I heard Venus on my newly shipped and unpacked K-Tel album, I knew that something was screwy. Upon further inspection of the album cover, I discovered that these were not the same artists we heard singing these songs on the radio…
Devastated? Not really. After a few days I discovered that I could live with it. I had to. I had paid for it with my own hard earned cash! It was a lesson learned.

😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

I owned one of their compilations of third-rate covers of famous songs that sounded like they were done with a cheap tape recorder in somebody's closet.
Also, porn actress Kandi Barbour appeared in print ads and TV commercials for K-tel.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

My dad has 2 in his record collection..none have cover songs-

I'm not sure that the one he has…the cover is the same but I don't think those are the songs that are on it…I'll have to look at it to be sure -

If you type k-tel and search on YouTube, it'll give you more than 25 pages of results.

K-Tel also produced that movie about old radio and TV blooers, which they also released as a 2 record set -

I'd sort of like to see what's all included on this one -

Are you okay?

Re: Have you ever owned a K-Tel album?

Maybe some of the earlier ones have covers

A lot of the songs on the ones I've seen are sorter versions so that they could fit more songs on them.
