The Sinner : Great show - and not a single post on this?

Great show - and not a single post on this?

Bill Pullman is awesome in this, like a shy or tentative Columbo.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I couldn't get through the season with the suits actor.

I don't feel like there's enough mystery and plot in it. I rarely turn off a show without finishing it.

I feel like no matter how it ends it's not going to be any great surprise or struggle.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Oh.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I tried to watch one season. It was about some teacher who would strangle women with tattoos, I think?

It just wasn't for me. Didn't even finish the season. Crime dramas just make me sad and angry, but I love slashers and horror, so go figure!

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Not, that's not the story for the first two seasons, and I don't think the third either, which I haven't yet watched,

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Whoops!

Had to wiki it. I was apparently thinking of another show. Lol

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

But I understood your point. People's depravity can be scarier than horror.

But the Sinner is kinda hopeful, in a weird way, so far at least. And it's not sadistic or cruel to its characters.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

After figuring out what show it was (no clue what other one I was thinking of! Lol), it turns out I did see the first couple of episodes of season 3. I remember it being good. 😊

Edit: Ah, it was "Reckoning". That's the one I didn't care for. It just made me sad.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Lol. Well that was a journey!

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

My gf loves slasher and crime shows.

Meanwhile, I have worked my whole life with criminals and I have many better stories than any show. But, if I tell them to her she runs away and gets sad.

I think some people like fantasy violence but if they know it's real it makes them upset.

I am not scared by slasher movies but I do get kinda sad at more realistic crime shows. It's because it's supposed to be "entertainment" but it's a fairly real story about how people waste life.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Yeah, exactly.

Campy slashers can be loads of fun, but there is that fantasy element that makes it entertaining.

Crime documentaries and dramas just make me enraged. Even though the dramas are fictional, it still feels too real.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

That's what happens to me!

My gf LOVES these shows. I thought she was sadistic or something and she told me it's because she always wanted to be in forensics.

Anyway, they make be blazing hot angry and then I'm like THAT reminds me of a story and then I tell her and she is horrified at my stories. I have stopped doing that but it's an act of love watching shows about perverts.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

What are your thoughts on serial killers?

I despise them and hate how they become idolized and made famous.

While I try to understand the dark fascination with them and the psychological intrigue, it just makes me disgusted.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Serial killers thrive on the attention and that’s why there actions become braver, more careless and sloppy overtime. Anyhow that’s what Thirsty told me .

Melting down over top boy

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Serial killers and mass shooters should just be dropped into the sea with concrete boots and never thought of again

I'll make it a law once I become Global Empress.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I had to work with multiple serial killers in the prison I worked at.

I think they are boring as it's the same story for each one of them. I don't mean literally the same story but it's always, something disappointed them, they over generalized, and then started killing people based on the over generalization.

It's not like "Hmmmm….the mind of a serial killers…how fascinating!" because it's not. They always have some crazy idea and typically it was kicked off by a disappointment.

Also, they are typically always sex perverts.

So, it sounds silly but if you meet one of these guys, you've met them all.

It seems like women are really interested in serial killers and when when I meet women that are, usually they had bad childhoods. I honestly don't know what's up with that whole thing, females being interested, and then bad childhood.

I've also noticed the same type of women like American Horror Story for some reason.

Anyway, it was rough working with several serial killers in prison. They would come into my office, not in chains, no guard outside, and I'd have the most intense convos with these guys.

We had one Muslim serial killer that was super intense. He was an American black guy who heard voices, had a bunch of coincidences that made him think the voices real, then he went around the country asking people "Do you think Jesus is the son of god" and if you said "yes" he would chop your head off.

So, he used to call me "The White Jewish Jesus" even though I'm not Jewish, lol. But at the end of the Koran a type of monster rules the world, he thought that was him, and Jesus comes to defeat the monster….

So, imagine sitting in a room with that dude. I am expert on Islam and so was he, so we would have these ULTRA intense discussions.

My boss there said to me, "Make sure he doesn't kill anyone in here" and that was my job.

Meanwhile, we had homosexual prostitutes on his block and all KINDS of shit. One day, him and some other Muslims come to me and say, "You know, we are obligated to kill these people, but we are telling you first".

So, that's a peak at what it's like, lol.

The Dajjal, or something else?

And I'm so glad I don't work anywhere near a prison.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

That is the character from the Koran!

He thought that was him, he has googly eyes, which is a sign in that figure.

Meanwhile, two angels bring Jesus down in the Koran to defeat Dajjal.

I always used to say, I'm not Jesus, I'm just a nice person, and I do not believe Jesus was the son of god.

On a "humorous" note, he asked me that question before I knew it was what he asked people he murdered. I just flatly said that I do not believe Jesus is the son of god, and boy was he happy!

I will never forget it.

Prison:

I used to be so stressed out I would go home and watch cartoons curled up on the couch.

not a great place.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Ah, ok. I was confused because the Dajjal is only mentioned in the Hadiths instead of the Koran.

I'm fascinated by Islamic eschatology because it runs so counter to the Christian warnings of the end times.

The man must have been screwed up (beyond the obvious reasons you mentioned!) if he thought that.

You must have a lot of crazy stories to share from your time there.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I can remember reading all about Dajjal and exact what is supposed to happen with him and I remember thinking it was amazing that Jesus came and saved the day!

I forgot it was in the Hadiths though. That tended to have a lot of short little stories and sayings, rather than lengthy events so I guess I got them confused.

Anyway, Arabs had a lot of encounters with Vikings and I think they stole some of their ideas.

The 72 virgins is a lot like going to Valhalla. You have to die fighting to get there. Once there it's all day partying and fighting. The Muslim version is all day partying.

Ragnarok: That's the Viking end of the world. But, it's the end of our nasty world and after it's done a new nice world will take its place.

After Dajjal is defeated, Jesus rules over a nice new world.

Viking: Baldar, brother of Thor and very nice guy, rules the nice new world.

I think there could be some crossover ideas there.

The suicide warrior idea is a "great" idea from a military/religious leader standpoint and vikings were all of that and they had specialized suicide warriors, so what sociopath wouldn't want a whole society of those to control?!

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

The Serial KIller:

He was VERY smart in that he knew the koran and hadiths very well and the logic and application of the ideas. If he wasn't crazy, he could have been a scholar on that topic or probably any other.

Anyway, he was a guy that came from a very Christian religious black family. He was great at football and was set to get some kind of scholarship/contact.

Then, he got injured and it ruined it all.

That put him in a horrible depression. This same thing happened to a very good friend of mine, who did not go crazy.

Anyway, Eric was the inmate's name. Eric felt like "Fuck it!" regarding being a good boy. So, he got into drug dealing.

If you are at heart a good person with morals and values and you do bad things, you can go crazy. You should never act against your character and that's what he did. So, he finally gets arrested and is in jail.

He feels like shit and a terrible person for selling drugs. He did sort of like in revenge towards god for ruining his football dreams.

He started hearing the voice of god in prison. People can have a "psychotic depression" caused by sadness. For instance, a spouse might see their dead husband, it's common. So, he hears god in his cell. He is smart and thinks that he's going crazy from sadness, guilt etc.

He doesn't tell anyone and gets out of jail. The voices are telling him that Islam is the real religion and he needs to go on a mission. He talks to the voice and says he doesn't believe it. The voice tells him he will soon see a sign, which is an open running car.

Shortly thereafter, he finds a running car and takes it. He is now fully believing the voice. The voice tells him to get a machete, all black clothes, and take the car on a route through several states.

On the route he is to ask people if they believe Jesus is the son of god and if they say yes he must cut their head off.

He did that and was eventually caught in PA, where he met me.

I think about him a lot because I admired his intelligence and he liked me. I feel sorry that he didn't get into football and that smashed dreams made him crazy. That seems to be the case with many serial killers.

Hitler wanted to be an artist and was pretty good but couldn't get a break.

Also, Eric was not a sex pervert so that gave me some sympathy, but not much and he's better off in prison.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

Other than curling onto the couch in the fetal position and ruminating over cartoons (I have a similar story but don't want to side track from your own! Lol), did being the recipient of so much baggage and horror have any negative effect on you?

Like, did you have to undergo therapy or develop a drinking problem to cope?

I simply don't have the mental and emotional fortitude to experience those kind of things without severe damage to my psyche, so I have always been fascinated by others like crime detectives of horrible murders and how they get on with real life.

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I am a very fit person and gained 30 pounds of fat there!

I wasn't doing it on purpose but every time I would hear a horror story I would walk like a robot/drug addict to the vending machine and buy a Tasty Cake pound cake, at 400 cals, and eat it.

The same went for other foods.

I was actively lifting weights at the time and for me, fat, equals super strength and some of my highest lifts were at sumo wrestler under stress weight, lol.

I also got very depressed, but didn't realize it, and got a very negative attitude about criminals and black people.

I had drug dealers confessing to me they made women fuck their pit bulls for free drugs. That was super common. One dude had 24 kids and he was like 25 and it was all to repopulate the "Urff" due to the black holocaust, and so on. So, it was like decade of that all of the time.

One day, I decided to go to center city Philly and go for a walk. I walked past Spaghetti Warehouse and saw all of these black families with moms and dads with their kids enjoying dinner. That was like a bolt of lightning and realized that I was getting brainwashed by my environment as black families, loyalty, etc did not seem real.

Then, I was sitting in the cafeteria in the prison and noticed that most of the staff was like 400 pounds. Also many drank all of the time and came to work drunk.

I realized it's because the prison environment is cancerous. Most of the guards just died around retirement.

It was a great job with awesome benefits but I decided to take and early retirement and leave.

I have an excellent memory that borders on the weird at times and so I can remember many cases from my career, like all of the details. So, I got a considerable amount of PTSD from that job that I still deal with today.

The cases are HEARING about stuff, which is like contact secondary PTSD.

However, we had real life stuff, and inmate was raping a little girl on camera. The mother would bring the kid to visit, I guess with vagina prepped, and the guy would put her on his lap and slip his penis in her, on camera. That cause a lot of reaction from staff and me trying to make sure it never happened again.

I used to give exciting tours of the prison to college students and we would talk with inmates. I loved it.

During one tour we are outside of E Block, which was the worst. Suddenly the giant doors burst open and a guy stumbled out with blood pouring out of his slit throat. Guards came running and there was blood everywhere in large amounts and they had to get the guy who slashed him and get the victim to the hospital.

All of that was in front of the students who I had to keep calm and protected. I'm sure I sounded like some crazy radio host throughout the whole thing.

The guy lived. The slasher was a pedo but told people he was something else. He thought the guy knew he was a pedo and tried to kill him.

The victim was instantly let out of prison by his judge as his crime was minor, but got state time.

All kind of crap like that is fresh in my mind.

What is your cartoon story?

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I’m sure we’ve discussed this before, mayne!

First two seasons were solid; third is supposedly unwatchable.

Hep: "I'll post a topless picture if you do the same ;)"

Re: Great show - and not a single post on this?

I posted about it! I’ve gotta find the thread. See you in 5 hours
