Joe : Good Film for Time

Well done film with good acting jobs by most.
Sarandon's first film and she takes off her clothes about 30 seconds in!

2nd best film of 1970 after Five Easy Pieces.

i think compton the rich guy and his wife are atrocious in this movie, it's like they're seriously auditioning for "general hospital"

I thought this movie was really wierd and boring so turned it off. Then had to turn it back on for the 'hell of it':) It did bring me to tears but I guessed the end at the beginning.

I was a teenager in the 60's. An active teenager. Not a wallflower.
I think the attitude of the 60's is way overdone just as the Civil War movies.
I never saw any of the vices portrayed in all the media.
I think it was a 'coastal thing'.

I saw "Joe" when it opened and later heard about a showing of the film where a hippie kid stood up at the end and shouted, "You see what they want to do? They want to kill us all!"

Do you remember the newspaper adds that said it was "Right across the street from 'Last House on the Left'"?

I agree. Never been a fan of 60's counterculture films but this one is outstanding. Great acting. Hard to believe the same director went on to direct ROCKY, NEIGHBORS and THE KARATE KID.
