I Need To Know : Film about Ordinary people are freaks and the freaks are ordinary

Film about Ordinary people are freaks and the freaks are ordinary

Once Read on Imdb a review about a 50's or 60's type film that described the society in it were weirdos unfit and the perceived strange people were the perfect people in our society. I dont know. It stuck me as a twilight type episode. At the moment I didnt care about it. But once I reflected on its review I tried to back where I had read it but imdb had switched it as when you refresh a page and a new review pops up. Ive posted this before in the need to know list thinking it would be an easy guess but so far not even close. Think its a fun trivia for some and in another way a good type of film to watch.

Re: Film about Ordinary people are freaks and the freaks are ordinary

I recall a Twilight Zone episode where most of screen time was of a young woman with her head in bandages. The doctor's were talking about how they hoped the operation worked because she was so ugly. The doctor's faces were not seen until the very end. Anyway, the young woman was so nervous about her bandages being taken off since she no longer wanted to be ugly. When the bandages were finally removed she was beautiful, but when the doctor's handed her a mirror so she could see herself and was horrified at what she saw. The doctor's said the operation was not a success and when the doctor's faces were finally shown they had pig type features so it was set on another planet. The narrator, Rod Serling, said something like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. If I recall correctly, the female actress with the bandages is the gorgeous young woman who played Ellie May Clampet in the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. Could this be the story you recall reading about? It doesn't exactly fit your description so it may not be.

I know that twilight episode. It's a great one. And yes it has the same dynamics. The only difference besides the strange twist of aliens is that it's a movie and not an episode. I never saw this movie but read about in a review of another movie where it described it similar. I thought it sounded interesting probably like the episode and wanted to check it out. When I went back to the review I forgot which movie. I had looked up looked up so many around that time and it got lost with the rest of the reviews. If it wasnt so complicated and I had known how to filter reviews back then I would've easily found it. But Imdb reviews arent easy to google like others.

It isn't the story because as I recall the description of the movie had it more of a normal town with normal people and it's settings reminded me of a place like pleasantville and the movie was made like in the 60's. Seeing how society is so messed up. I'd be interested in seeing a good film where good looking goody two shoes are alienated and treated strange whereas the assholes and the bad people are the norm and successful. Given most movies nowadays would probably destroy such a plot I'd like to see one from back in the day and giving it's due quality. Kinda like Rod Serling.

I saw a movie as a kid that was pretty cool. It was about a mental hospital and in the end it turned out the Doctor's were actually the patients and the patients were the doctors. I was young so I don't remember all the details. Maybe they put the Doctors on meds and kept them almost comatose. I would like to see it again. It was pre 1980's and possibly late 60's. I think it was Don't Look in the Basement (1973).

That sounds like the episode of "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" titled "A Home Away from Home." It's on YouTube in two parts.
