The Brady Bunch : Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

The school calls the Brady residence to inform them Cindy can only invite one parent. They relay this message to Alice.

If the school had that many students in the production, they must have spent who knows how long on the phone calling all those homes.

But why does Alice go to Cindy with this? Why not inform Mr. and Mrs. Brady? Nevermind that 'the student' has to decide. As became evident in the episode, why put all that on a child?

Why follow the school's 'instruction' and say "the kid has to decide"?

Re: Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

Mike and Carol should have yanked Cindy from the play.

Re: Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

Why? They both got to see it.

Re: Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

True. But only after a ton of political wrangling and well-placed bribes. Not to mention the undue stress and guilt placed on Cindy during the whole matter.

IKR? Must've taken a few days to do that.

I also wonder about the children doing a play just for the Bradys. Surely they wouldn't let all those kids out of class during school just for them. So did all the parents take their kids to the school in the evening and just drop them off? Just for the Bradys?

Cindy was absolutely adorable in this episode. A really cute kid.

The one teacher said that children don't often realize that rules can be bent. So, maybe it was more like a rehearsal in their costumes as opposed to the actual production.

Alice was the heavy, part of her job description...like prison matron....she'd be able to "handle" Cindy if things got hysterical and violent...Mike and Carol would ignore the screams while reading their evening papers.

In season 1, Alice was a little sadistic. She lightened up over the next 4 years.

That's what always bugged me about this episode. It never made sense to me. What if other kids had a similar problem? How do the other parents feel, like "Hey, my husband/wife couldn't go so why don't we get a special performance?"

Additionally, why were just the Bradys invited? If they gave a second performance (which is what should have been done in the first place), why didn't they invite all the other parents who weren't able to attend the first one?

Re: Eeny, Meeny, Mommy, Daddy: Who Has To Make the Decision?

Could the Bradys have been sitting through a dress rehearsal?

I never got why only the Brady's got to go to the "practice" one, when they had so many other students. Should have just done two performances, and let half the students invite their parents that night, and then the next night the other ones. Very unfair. I never got why Alice did not tell the parents and tells Cindy about it. I would have been livid with her.

That was the one we used to wonder about when we first saw the episode.

When I was in elementary, after that episode, we had two performances, one during school for students and one that evening for parents.

We have to remember that this show came from the same mind that figured castaways on an island could have visitors come and go, but never get off the island themselves.

That said, I (we all!) fully agree. The number of kids in the production equals the number of seats in the auditorium?!?!?
