men are men and women are women.

Re: Do you love your parents?

I sure do

Re: Do you love your parents?

That probably explains your exquisite movie taste

Re: Do you love your parents?

After looking at the results I can see why this place is fucked up full of fucked up people.

Re: Do you love your parents?

You think it's fucked up for people to love their parents?

Re: Do you love your parents?

Mel Gibson is what you have when someone loves his parents too much.

Re: Do you love your parents?

I did and I still do…
Not only do I love them… I love my steps as well. They all did what they could for all of their children.

You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Re: Do you love your parents?

Common? You use the plural form which I guess means that both of your parents got remarried again and I was just wondering if it was common back then or if your case was an anomaly

Re: Do you love your parents?

Anomaly?
No more than any other family.
They divorced, and some died before they met other people.
In our parent's situations, there were some divorces. Those happened before the deaths….

Re: Do you love your parents?

I think you misunderstood me and got angry maybe assuming I was talking shit to you which I was not doing.

I'm not talking about problems because I would guess there's a lot more problems in my family but they just stayed married because of the patriarchal conservative bullshit

Re: Do you love your parents?

I'm not talking problems either. I'm not angry. I was confused.
All parents involved had either died before the living had met each other, or a couple of them had divorced long before meeting and getting married…
I have biological, step, and two half siblings.

I won't say that there wasn't a bit of rivalry within the households…
There were problems to iron out… no more than any other blended family/families.
We weren't The Brady Bunch!

Re: Do you love your parents?

There's no family like The Brady bunch which is why it's on TV but I hope you had a good childhood.

I didn't. I didn't grow up with love I grew up with violence and I assume a lot of others in here did so as well so sometimes I try to bite my lip because I know a lot of people are going through a lot of shit and I'm not just talking to pandemic but I'm talking about stuff from 30 years ago that are still affecting them today and I think a little bit of empathy and understanding would go a long way on this board but also in our personal lives when we have to take our shit elsewhere into the real world.

Re: Do you love your parents?

I won't say that my childhood was perfect. There were problems. My parents and the steps weren't perfect people. Nobody is perfect. I refuse to discuss some of the bad things that happened within our family because it isn't anyone's business outside of my family.
I will say that I am 65 years old now. I am one of the youngest of the family.
I have come to understand many of the people involved in my childhood, and why they were the way they were.
Sometimes it takes a lifetime… Sometimes a person just doesn't get it. That's sad.

but I'm talking about stuff from 30 years ago that are still affecting them today and I think a little bit of empathy and understanding would go a long way on this board but also in our personal lives when we have to take our shit elsewhere into the real world.

I think that you are absolutely right!

Re: Do you love your parents?

They're both gone now, but they gave me the best childhood that anyone could wish for.
Not in a lot of material things because we didn't have a heap of money, but in love and security. They were good people.

Re: Do you love your parents?

To do you are one lucky person.

Re: Do you love your parents?

I know it.

Re: Do you love your parents?

I'm sure that's why you turned out so normal compared to us.

Re: Do you love your parents?

Everyone is normal in their own way! Who has the right to judge what's normal? 'normal' can be another word for 'boring' :)

Re: Do you love your parents?

there's nothing boring about being normal. I consider you normal and someone like me is not normal. I don't think there are that many quote unquote normal people but I think you are one of them. You don't seem like someone who's not going to go to jail or have some kind of mental breakdown or is homeless or is a drug addict or is a person nobody likes. I think that's a reason why so many of us you suck accounts because we're ashamed and because we don't feel we're good enough for anybody else. Feeling worthless. Suicidal.

Re: Do you love your parents?

Yeah, I guess. I don't really like them at all, but I know I'll miss them when they inevitably pass away… which sucks.

I live. I die. I live again.

Re: Do you love your parents?

It didn't surprise me that those who only loved one parent seem to pick their mother.
