Politics : Poll: Do whites, Asians, Latinos owe black people reparations?

It sure is a RACIST kinda summer here in America! One of BLM’s demands is that all blacks be paid $1000/month in reparations. This would be financed through higher taxes, apparently on the entire tax base which comprises multiple descendants of and actual non-slave owning immigrants.

Reparations will be in the form of investments in business, scholarships, urban renewal et al, not personal checks. It would be foolish to give every crack whore and gangster lowlife a thousand bucks. Seriously, that ain't gonna happen.

Why do I owe any more in taxes to pay for one group of people I’ve never personally wronged?

One can certainly argue blacks have been discouraged from achieving success due to how society treats them. One can argue it would be value accretive to boost the economic success of blacks as they’re the largest minority. But this notion that *I* owe it to blacks to pay more in taxes because of the sins of a bunch of dead white peoples is ludicrous. Even if it is a net benefit to society, it is not right to impose this burden on people. It is almost as wrong as slavery was.

How about this. Everyone in the country votes yes or nay for reparations. If you vote “yea,” you get included in the tax base to finance the reparations. If you vote “nay,” you don’t have to make donations to black education.

You do know that black households have half the net worth of white households, right?

Why is this? Is it because blacks are lazy? Because blacks are profligates?

Or could it just be that slavery has impacted blacks, that labor and wealth were stolen from them, and they have a deficit which may take at least two centuries to overcome?

And since that wealth was stolen from them, it went to somebody, right?

Could it be that whites have twice the net worth of blacks because white families have benefited from that stolen wealth? That stolen wealth was passed down from generation to generation and enriches whites today?

We don't even have to mention that the U.S. government was complicit in this, and that government is an institution which still exists today and should by all that is right be held accountable.

It's about compensating for theft. Do you not believe a debt must be paid back?

No one I am related to has owned a slave. Not to my knowledge, at least. Maybe there are a few kinky bastards, but why am I being asked to compensate someone for a theft I did not commit?

Oh so because you’re doing well, all white people are doing well and because white people were slave owners in the past, all whites benefit enough from white privilege such that they carry a material degree of blame for systemic racism against blacks.

Lots of white families are not well off. We are in the middle of a potentially deep recession and a pandemic. Businesses are failing all over the country. A lot of people aren’t working and are struggling to feed their kids. And you’re proposing we increase the tax burden on them now!? Are you fucking insane? Do you want the country to collapse?

I know you’re not insane, Gameboy, but the idea of reparations is questionable at best and in terms of practicality, now is an exceptionally bad time for this kind of a burden to be placed on the largest segment of our economy. Sorry by that’s a hard “no.”

Every expenditure doesn't require a tax increase. I have an idea. Why not stop throwing billions away in the Middle East and invest it in infrastructure, i.e. rebuild the black community with reparation investments? It benefits the country as a whole.

And, it rights a wrong and forces our government to take responsibility for enslaving its own citizens.

As an American do you not want to hold our government accountable for violating the rights of us, the American people? Should not a lesson be taught?

COONdi Rice is considered a national treasure among the white racist conservative crowd. None of my grandparents were ever overtly bigoted or expressed any sort of outward racial prejudice towards anyone.
