Re: Dinner Tonight:

Where's that asparagus? My cousin Jerome likes them bacon wrapped, right before he licks em clean and ready for the grill! Usually the heat burns up his retard germs, but sometimes he gets carried away and lets the dog take a whiff beforehand!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Thumbs up.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Nothing like ruining a vegetable by wrapping it inside bacon like a dog eats

Bacon doesn't ruin anything.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Leftovers from Thursday? Had 2 slices of turkey left which I tossed outside last night. Didn't want to chance it.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Yep. I have 2 qts of turkey stock left, so I'll be making turkey soup soon. I froze it.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Right now I'm finishing off the very last of the Thanksgiving dressing, gravy and ham.

I had it crammed together in a retro 1970s Tupperware canister. It stayed fresh this whole time and still tastes amazing.😋

Edit: The food is from Thursday not the 1970s.

Yum! Growing up, a friend's mom used to make sausage stuffing. It was delicious!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Cubed dried bread - about 6 cups
Butter - 1 stick
Fresh Rosemary - chopped
Fresh Thyme - chopped
Fresh Sage - chopped
- if you don't have these three, use poultry seasoning. For fresh, I don't really know what the measurements are - I just eye them. For the seasoning, use about a tablespoon and a bit over.
Fresh Parsley - chopped abut 1/4 to 1/2 cup
Celery - 1 large rib plus the interior leaves (they add flavor) - Chopped
Onion - 1 medium size - chopped
Garlic cloves - about 3 to 4 good sized ones - chopped
Jones breakfast sausage patties (it comes in a roll in the frozen food section)
Craisins
Chicken or turkey stock or broth (if you don't have fresh, you can buy it - I like Swanson's because there are not added chemicals or flavors or preservatives)
1 egg beaten

Sauteed sausage meat until done; drain all but 1 tsp of fat. Remove and set aside.
Melt butter with sausage meat fat; sautee the onion and garlic; when just about done, add garlic, herbs and parsley. Add dried bread cubes and mix well ensuring butter/fat absorbed. Add sausage and mix. Slowly add broth and mix to stiff consistency - not mushy. Save some broth. Add craisins and mix. Add beaten egg and mix.

Turn into a greased baking dish. Refrigerate while turkey is cooking. When you take the turkey out of the oven, add a bit of broth to the stuffing, cover, and bake for 30 to 45 minutes.

Ta da!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

It's so much butter!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

It is as bad as the equivalent amount of white sugar. Tsk tsk

Thank you 😁!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

I’d pass on the mold. I’m not a fan of eating fungus despite my name. That would make me a cannibal of sorts, I suppose.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

12 oz fresh cranberries - wash and chop in blender or food processor
2/3 cup sugar
1 envelope plain gelatin
1 cup orange juice
1 small granny smith apple, peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 cup celery chopped
1/2 chopped walnuts

add sugar to chopped cranberries, stirring every few minutes for a total of 20 minutes.

in the meantime, pour orange juice in small saucepan. Sprinkle gelatin on top and let it bloom (about five minutes). Slowly heat orange juice and stir until gelatin completely dissolved.

Add chopped apple, celery and walnuts to cranberries. Add orange juice mixture and stir.

Turn into a gelatin mold and refrigerator.

To release mold, place bottom of pan into pan of hot water for about 30 to 40 seconds; invert onto platter.

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Oooh, that kind of mold!

Re: Dinner Tonight:

Sounds good! I started liking cranberry this Thanksgiving. We didn't have it.
