The Ring : Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

I was supposed to be scared by this?
I just found it more laughable than anything.
The scene that really stands out for me to get the most Lulz is the bathtub suicide.
Anyone else find it more funny than scary?

Humans are not the only species on earth.
We just act like it.

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

I'm sure there's a few more idiots like you. Does that answer your question?

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

there's at least one on every board for every(actually scary)horror movie. they never actually make an argument. they invariably say "i just thought it was kinda cheesy".

Are you 9?

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

Do you always like tooting your own horn? When this was made 15 years ago (You were most likely 2-3) it was more up to date, and scary. That said, this movie still holds up as A really good horror film for me.. It's kinda sad the only thing you younger kids films scary these days, needs fifteen thousand jump scares in it.. This is horror done right, I would like to know what you think is scary, so I can see what you're basing your "good" horror off of.

Bump because it is true.

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

Yeah, this movie wasn't very good at all. She spends all this time trying to figure it out, and we expect it all to finally come together at the end, but it never does…

"She just wanted to be heard."

Seriously? That's all you got?

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

I didn't find it laughable, just not very scary. I wouldn't say it was bad though, and I liked the cast doing a good job. When I watched it for the very first time, I found it mostly suspenseful, but since then I've seen approximately a thousand movies more, and what made me hold my breath and shit my pants back then just doesn't have the same effect on me anymore nowadays.

A horror movie I actually found laughable was "The Grudge" (the one with Buffy).

"We're with you all the way, mostly"

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

I agree.
It was just too ridiculous, silly, goofy and funny to be taken seriously and scared!

And that bathtub suicide?
What a funny moment where just a blow dryer would do!

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

Well all I can say is that some people are harder to scare than the majority.

Re: Did anyone else find this movie funny and not scary?

It was scary enough to make me look very suspiciously at an old video tape I found in the basement.
