The Golden Child : Charlotte Lewis

Charlotte Lewis

Love this film but have to say Charlotte Lewis (kee nang) has to be the most miserable bitch I have ever had the misfortune to see in a film. She's so bastard miserable, the look she gives Eddie murphy in Tibet when she goes to find yaks is disgusting. Watch it, when she tells him you have an hour to look around then she walks away. She looks at him like a piece of *beep*
I'd smack her one if she did that to me. She's very beautiful but terrible choice for this film.
She's moody, mean, miserable and wants to cheer up for *beep* sake.

You're pretty dumb. You're blaming her for being a character that she is SUPPOSED to be in the movie.

Eddie murphy's character was light hearted, comical and doesn't take things seriously.
On the offside, he is also very skeptical and doesn't believe in myths.

So in contrast, they made Lewis' character the OPPOSITE of that by being very serious, focused and hardly smiling or joking around.
She is also a believer while murphy's character was a skeptic (until he sees more of the supernatural and starts to believe).

Re: Charlotte Lewis

Errrrrrr I'm not dumb, I know she was playing a part, I don't like Charlotte that's all and I hate her character.

Re: Charlotte Lewis

Oh well, she's not a particularly good actress anyway.
I don't know much about the actress but when I looked her up, she mostly does alot of nude scenes in her other movies.
Nothing wrong with attractive nude women, but in her case, I think she was doing this to overcompensate for lack of acting ability. She wasn't in many good movies, so she probably had to do just about anything to get parts in films.

Re: Charlotte Lewis

Yeah plus she said roman Polanski abused her when she was 16.
Which is disgusting and a huge coincidence because she was about 40 when her claims came out and they came out just as she was made bankrupt. What an amazing coincidence. Bitch, why didn't she say about it when she was 16 instead of waiting until her forties when her acting career when *beep* and she had no money.
Horrible vile bitch

Re: Charlotte Lewis

Nothing quite like an agenda-driven thread.

Horrible vile bitch!

... she was made bankrupt.

God, may be the OP was one of her creditors or something. Talk about going over the top. I loved Charlotte Lewis in this film.🐭

Ha! ...yeah , Charlotte Lewis, the actress, does seem the miserable sort sometimes!

the look she gives Eddie murphy in Tibet when she goes to find yaks is disgusting. Watch it, when she tells him you have an hour to look around then she walks away. She looks at him like a piece of *beep*

However, I think this is an unfair assessment of Kee Nang.

...but, I DO see why this conclusion can be draw: It is very apparent that there were some important scenes that got cut short or were edited out of the final print that expand upon Kee's feelings for Eddie Murphy's character, Chandler Jarrell.

…Which gets us to that scene in Tibet. What we don't get to see is what Chandler says to her before she cops an attitude. I think what we were supposed to have was him acting very dismissive of her culture…and THEN he perhaps implies that the only reason he is there is because she slept with him and that she probably only slept with him to “obligate” him to come. Thus:
a. He insulted her culture
b. Puts into question if he can ever elevate his attitude to the level of being “the chosen one” instead of an insensitive irreligious skeptic
c. He pretty much calls into question her love for him
d. He implies that he views their relationship as quid pro quo....i.e. he is only doing this for the sex.
(All of this is backed up by later conversations with the Temple leader (Kee's Father) that both Chandler and Kee have with him separately)

Having missed that preceding dialogue (or maybe some stupid/insensitive comment) in that scene in Tibet we don't get to see WHY she gives him that look. She was probably justified.

Re: Charlotte Lewis

Charlotte Lewis despite being incredibly beautiful in The Golden Child is none the less, extremely wooden and lifeless acting wise here. Most of the time, she just pouts and looks doe-eyed while reacting/listening to Eddie Murphy, whom she absolutely has no chemistry with. She delivers virtually her entire dialogue in a timid, breathless British accent.

Re: Charlotte Lewis

She is truly luscious, buna
