Blu-ray Hi-Def Equipment : BluRay Player Software Which Actually Works??

BluRay Player Software Which Actually Works??

windows 10 HP laptop. windows media player will NOT play blurays. obviously the discs are encrypted. i have a stand alone sony bluray player but that defeats the ease of simply inserting disc and watching without the need for a cable and the mess.

i installed from the microsoft store a program called bluray player. it doesnt recognize that there's a disc inserted.

VLC has a workaround with some bits of code put into your program files but that too doesnt work.

does anyone know of a legit program–which is STRAIGHTFORWARD– to install which will play blu-ray discs?

thank you

WinDVD or PowerDVD. If you buy a desktop Blu-ray drive, it usually comes with player software; I'd expect a laptop with a Blu-ray drive would include player software too. Maybe you can download an OEM version from HP or from the maker of the Blu-ray drive?
Alternatively, there's programs like AnyDVD HD or DVDFab Passkey which remove the protection on the fly. Or makemkv which can rip the disc to an unprotected mkv file.

I used to use Powerdvd. Never found anything even close to being as good as it was.

Also, you probably have to have the proper codecs installed in addition to the player software. You can usually find them in a bundle that's "free" to download. I really don't remember, it's been so many years since I messed with video files and players on a pc.
