TV General : Alex Trebek may beat pancreatic cancer

Alex Trebek may beat pancreatic cancer

It is unlikely as it is considered an incurable disease, but he's doing incredibly well for now. The average survival rate for people with stage-4 pancreatic cancer is 3-6 months. Alex has had it for a year and a half now so he has already vastly surpassed that. It could be thanks to an experimental immunotherapy treatment he is receiving. It seems to be working.

News like this gives me hope for advances in medical science. I'm happy for him. He's looking for a replacement though.

One of my siblings had a pancreatic tumor the size of a large baseball removed last year, and they are doing quite well. They are a diabetic now, but that's a common side effect of the surgery.

Re: Alex Trebek may beat pancreatic cancer

It would be pretty incredible if he does, because that's a double whammy. Stage-4, plus pancreatic which is pretty much considered a death sentence. Miracles happen, however, and people do beat the odds in unusual ways. Maybe he'll be that rare exception.
