Religion, Faith, and Spirituality : Hmmmm, What to Do?
Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
1. Nothing - Not bother with forums at all.
This is probably going to be my pick. Amazon is acquiring the *beep* karma.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
3. religiousforums.com - Tas recommedned this
He recommended it to me too. I think it's the same one that St. Frankenstein told me about a long time ago but I still haven't joined up.
(I think Bryce did too)
That's not so good. Bryce and I don't exactly get along.
You could just join them all, and drop out of the ones you don't like later.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
I posted there years ago, kinda got lost with all the options.
Oh Lord, you gave them eyes but they cannot see

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
That's what I'm kinda afraid of too.
I think imdb is going down the same road, structure wise although there is just one religion board.
I wish there was just a handful of topics - Film Board, TV BOard, Gaming Board, & Offtopic which would catch everything else which is why Offtopic remains appealing to me despite the cost.
If I were you, I'd wanna be me too.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
I probably am.
I already joined offtopic ages ago and just renew when the mood hits me.
I just joined imdb 2.0 and posted a few times.
I'm going to research religious forums a bit more but will probably sign up too.
I don't like signing up for stuff I don't use.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
For what it's worth, OffTopic.com is a dud. I tried that and wouldn't recommend it. Although that was years ago.
You also have the possibility of http://www.city-data.com/forum/religion-spirituality/. This is the one I was trying to push on everyone, as I have posted on there before and it's not dissimilar to IMDb except for the sub forums for different beliefs.
It could be a balloon. It could be Franky. It could be very fresh and clean. It could be those ways.

Why was it a dud?
The city data site seemed unwieldy to me, but that was years ago as well

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
To be fair, I only tried Off Topic for a very brief time, but if IMDb boards are too quiet, OffTopic is far too busy. So it would be hard to really settle in there, with one's topics getting buried and not getting to know anyone.
City Data is what I would recommend as being the closest thing to the IMDb experience (and that includes the new board that has been set up). But I haven't posted there in a while.
Would it get some wind for the sailboat? Would it get the railroad for these workers?

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
The nice thing about Offtopic is thye don;t seem to have a time limit, so the thread stays there for a long time rather than disappearing after a couple of momnths.
This makes the need to create new threads over the same topics moot since that same topic can last for years and thousands of posts.
I prefer "Official" threads that people can routinely post to.
When I was on Neogaf, there was an official religion thread and all religious stuff went there and people could refer back a couple of years to stuff if they wanted. No false accusations and one could always refer back to an initial argument.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
as long as the spirit of the judeo/christian father figure god is listening, it probably doesn't matter which one.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
I guess you could just hold actual religious debates and invite "theophobiacs". If they get too out of control you could just hold up Bible to their face and scare them away.
You're standing on my neck

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
There's not enough of them to invite.
Plus no one considers themselves a theophobiac and are always fair and balanced.
The problem is with the religious who should come to realize how stupid it is to be religious, then they could be fair and balanced too.
So the best thing would be to find a place that will inevitably attract all groups.

4. Offtopic.com
It is a pay forum (I think I paid 5 bucks for 3 months)
This sounds like a viable option.
Gonna miss Rabbit, tho unless his mom let's him borrow 5 bucks..
Kidding the little loser
.I don't miss him now.

Re: Hmmmm, What to Do?
You can start making your own blog, show your creative works ( excluding facking but if you must then) then invite everybody ( your chitchat friends here to see and comments.anonymosly of course
Others can do that too
Would be fun talking about anything while making fun of your creative works lol

Hmmmm, What to Do?
1. Nothing - Not bother with forums at all.
2. Imdb 2.0 - The layout is infinitely better than this one and so far it's a bit nicer. It'll be interesting to see how it changes when everyone is booted from here.
3. religiousforums.com - Tas recommedned this (I think Bryce did too) and it looks pretty robust. However, there are too many options about religion. I like picking and choosing my discussions. It does have a large General Discussion Board though which is probably where I would tend to hang out. Also, I'm not in the mood to continually defend my beliefs from a bunch of religious folks anymore than I am in discussing them with the theophobiacs here.
I would prefer to treat the Bible as literature in order to school people, but if I have to keep answering the question of what religion I am, I think I'll pass.
4. Offtopic.com - This is a general forum and it is very "mature" (As in very popular and not going anywhere). It has just the right amount of religious discussion but it also has a lot of nonsense. The forum allows porn, for example, but it can be filtered and marked so one never has to see it.
It is a pay forum (I think I paid 5 bucks for 3 months) and it has a strong moderator presences meaning trolls are kept to a minimum. As with most forums, it is packed to the gills with non-religious and they are allowed free reign to criticize which is not a big deal, of course, but they also tend to be as hard headed and unreasoning as the theophobiacs here.
Fortunately, there are tons of other things to discuss on the board including separate subtopics for popular shows like Game of Thrones.
Decisions, decisions.
If I were you, I'd wanna be me too.
