Beverly Hills, 90210 : Times the DVD music COMPLETELY ruined the moment…
Re: Times the DVD music COMPLETELY ruined the moment…
during nat's heart attack. getting rid of 'another one bites the dust' by queen really takes some ironic humor out of the scene: as who gave him the heart attack? really? nat's own megas w/ cheese? bran the man self-righteous moral poison? baja's frankfurt school inspired and insipid critiques of nat's coffee?

I rely on my Soapnet recordings, but I can understand your disdain about the music-altered goodbye scene. To me it symbolizes how close the eight have become in seeing a part of them leave (temporarily in this case).

the pretenders are amazing, a timeless holiday tune.

I hate when they do that. like the scene when Dylan and Brenda are breaking up after the pregnancy scare. I am pretty sure REM "Losing my religon" was playing or I don't want to fall in love by Chris Isaak. but it really hits the scene and the song they use now is a joke.
Re: Times the DVD music COMPLETELY ruined the moment…
Yeah for me this one is the worst. REM song in this scene was almost mythical. After Dylan chooses Kelly, one season later, Brenda plays this song again and again in her room. All of this is lost on the DVD version :(
Like in the Slumber party episode, when the girls and Cindy are dancing and singing in the living room. The song they chose on DVD doesn't cut it.

I agree, the most ruined moment was when Steve was leaving on the bus and that perfect Pretenders song was axed.. That was one of my favorite scenes of the entire series and it was butchered by bad music.
A few other which come to mind are the end of the episode where Donna wears her graduation cap at the diner and Saturday in the Park was playing. Also that scene where Kelly and Brenda are standing by the lockers and Dylan is looking at them. There was Ben E. King's masterpiece Stand by Me playing. In pretty sure that great song was replaced .

I hate it when they change original music in any *beep* thing, movies or TV..
and you watch the music creds to ID a song you heard, and then go to the soundtrack CD, and it is all of this different *beep* which is nothing to do with the movie or half of it (mostly the decent original tracks that you might actually want to own ) are missing.

Omg I just watched that episode I recorded off of pop just so I could here that song as Steve leaves. I've never been so mad over a tv song before.
Re: Times the DVD music COMPLETELY ruined the moment…
Pop played that episode today and yes, the last moments were ruined by that filler mess. The Pretenders'song created a story and what a shame to lose the additional feeling created.
I must warn you. I'm very susceptible to flattery.

One time that really stood out for me was in the episode "Summer Storm" right after Dylan & Brenda broke upit was the middle of the night, Dylan & Brenda both were tossing & turning in (separate) beds, and both get up to use the bathroom. They turn on the light switch at the same time (in the Jack-and-Jill bathroom) - only to see each other standing there.such chemistry between them then!!
The song they used in the original was perfect."I Don't Get Much Sleep Anymore" and they BUTCHERED the scene with the stupid up-beat loud ass head banging song they play now!!

Re: Times the DVD music COMPLETELY ruined the moment…
Why can't they use the original music? Copyright laws and such?

By far the worst to me is the episode Chucky's Back when Steve gets on the bus to go find his birth mother and it's Christmas time. The original song (2000 Miles by The Pretenders) combined with the story makes me tear up and the utter s h ! t they use in the DVD episode totally wrecks the mood. Horrible.
