Religion, Faith, and Spirituality : IMDB2 RFS Mod/s

As promised, I'm going to attempt an election to determine the best per-forum moderator/s on IMDB2. As a community of long-time posters, of which I have not been a part of, I believe you all know better than I who would be the fairest user/s to keep the boards clean of pornography, doxxing, and anything else that should be removed. IMO, posts should not be removed because someone finds it offensive or because someone is "being mean" to someone else. There's a block feature (similar to the ignore function here) for those who don't want to see what they don't like. A moderator should be as objective as possible and should never clean up anything just because it may disagree with his or own opinions or beliefs.

So I'm asking all of you, dear RFS regulars, for nominations. Who here should moderate the RFS forum on IMDB2? Give me some names, and I'll open a poll in the RFS forum on IMDB2 soon. Bear in mind, the moderators will not have access to personal information such as IP addresses, they will only have the ability to lock, "sticky," move, and delete threads and posts of the boards they moderate. I've yet to decide if they should have the ability to edit posts.

If this goes well, I'll do the same for the other boards after I streamline them. Next up will be Politics. I don't know yet how I'm going to deal with The Soapbox.

Hi, Eva thanks for considering me but if there is only mod to be decided then cademon is a very good option and probably the best option. He is a neutral person, an intelligent person and may even be able to solve the problems just by talking out with relevant people. Kiera and Allaby are also good choices. If there is more than one mod then I do be interested in it. And I also think you could be in the role as well!

I might also be interested if there ends up being more than one. One problem with myself (and perhaps Kiera) is our tendency to take some time off from the board, something a single mod couldn't do. Hence one reason multiples could be useful.

There can be more than one and for several reasons like the one you just mentioned, there should be, IMO. After we get some names, I guess the next step would be to make sure they WANT to. :)

I have no idea why you posted this in response to my post. I've been pretty open about wanting any IMDb alternative to be about as "free" as possible since that's one thing I find interesting about this place.

For those potential moderator candidates concerned about the full time job responsibility, I think a moderator could slack quite a bit and still equal or exceed the level of moderation that we currently enjoy on this board. And I think in the end, that's what most members would like.

I'm assuming that we could use a reporting mechanism to alert moderators, which would also lessen the demand on their time.

I like to flit around boards at times so I could become a target for troll groups whereas Kiera, Eva, and Steve wouldn't be. My passwords are secure but I can predict receiving a lot of crap in mail.

It's cool mods can't see ips though. I think that should make the picks easier.

Edit: sorry I misread the op. So if it's just moving threads around and deleting them it should be okay. I didn't know if you could ban users or not.

I think you could manage it and if there are multiple moderators then they can share the burden of receiving the crap :P

So it won't really be that difficult.

I think so. In the B5 group although it's truly international, at the time of the US election, some people who knew the rule, tried to get round it. That won't happen when we have our election in September, there aren't enough New Zealanders.
