Re: you can see her bruises
Linda Lovelace also had allot of surgical scars on her body and I read that they tried to shoot around them as much as possible. I have seen still photos in magazines that were shot of Linda while she was shooting this film- and she is covered by surgical scars.

Re: you can see her bruises
The one thing we can be sure about is the scars.
Severe car accident in 1970, she was driving an Opel Cadet (small british import) and was T-Boned by an older Chrysler. Messed her up bad enough that she had to have surgery. It took her months to recover.
Who can really say what happened to her on the set of this movie. There have been so many different stories over the years by everyone involved. My guess, she had a very fair/pale complexion, and probably showed bruises more so than normal. Couple that with this being a fly-by-night production shot in 6 days no one probably gave a flip on putting makeup on her flaws and figured the camera wouldn't show them anyways.

Re: you can see her bruises
She was forced into the porn industry and prostitution. Those bruises came from her husbands beatings because she refused to give a guy deep throat fellatio. She even said that she had a gun pointed to her head the whole time in the shooting of Deep Throat.
Re: you can see her bruises
If you saw the movie you'd know Linda claimed that her husband held a gun to her when she phoned her family NOT during the shooting of the Deep Throat. Also, by all acounts she really liked the main character of Deep Throat and it was the husband who had a problem with the giving of fellatio.
Also, her accounts are all questionable as in 2001 posed for the adult magazine, LegShow.

Re: you can see her bruises
That's not true. If you read her quotes (I think some are found on Wikipedia), she said in her own words: 'Whoever watches Deep Throat, is watching me being raped. I had a gun pointed to my head the whole time. It's a crime that the movie is still showing.' Trust me, I've done my research on this.
Re: you can see her bruises
She might have been able to fight for the rights to the movie, considering it's becoming more of a woman run business than ever. Marilyn Chambers must have been better off considering she got a percentagenot bad considering how well the film has done over the years.
Is it possible that she made some of the bad stuff up, or made it worse than it really was?
Other than "Inside Deep Throat", it's inevitable that they'll make a movie about her. Sheen and Estevez already played the Mitchell Brothers. Any suggestions on who would play her?

Re: you can see her bruises
Why would she make that stuff up?
Re: you can see her bruises
Why would she make things up?
She would make the stuff up because of two reasons. First, money. After her sudden claims of being raped and mistreated, Hallelujah! There she goes around the world, expenses paid by zealous feminist activists and alike. Linda's late career consisted of speeches against pornography, and she didn't do it for free.
The second reason could be more complex, but understandable nevertheless. The had probably second thoughts about her earlier career, and instead of admitting her "sins", she blamed on others. Most people have a tendency to remember their past to their favor, Linda just did it on public. Some people can't stand the idea of themselves doing something they no longer approve of, so it's most convenient to roll the blame to somebody else. "Satan made me do it", "Elvis made me do it", "I wouldn't have done it, but I was tempted" et cetera.
Linda's co-star Harry Reems has also quit, and nowadays he lives with deeply religious wife in Utah, working as a real estate man. Reems once stated something like "past's past - I did what I did and enjoyed it, but now I have moved on with my life". A good advice from old Harry.

Re: you can see her bruises
Where's the proof that she made it up? For all I know she was raped and beaten by her husband Chuck Traynor. Look at the bruises on her legs. Why else would she have divorced Chuck Traynor? Plus, if he never beat her up or pointed a gun to her head, like Linda said he did, wouldn't he tell the world that he never did such things? I don't think he did.
Re: you can see her bruises
There have been successive investigations into her claims and all have come with nothing. I am not saying that she did or didn't get raped but she is an unreliable witness as her story has changed over the years and she does seem to be for hire. As for why she and Chuck divorced, there could be a multitude of reasons but watching your wife give head can't be good for your marrige.
Re: you can see her bruises
Why didnt she divorce him in the first place when the beatings started? If it was fear, then how did she finally have the guts to do it afterwards?
Oh well. we never know what really happen.

Re: you can see her bruises
The proof she made it up? 1) you can't prove a negative. 2) several people who were around at the time said she made it up.
Re: you can see her bruises
This is accurate, except that it's wrong to label the anti-pornography activists as "feminists". Not all feminists are anti-porn; some feminists are sex-positive, and some approve of porn. Others object to porn. It's an unsettled issue among feminists.

More clear is that a great many probably most anti-porn activists are also anti-feminists. Consider that, for example, one of the organizations sponsoring her was the Meese commission. The person on the commission whose name I recognize was James Dobson, of the right wing "Focus on the Family", which advocates subordination of women. Meese is hardly a supporter of equality for women either, although as far as I'm aware he didn't actively advocate treating women as their husbands' property like Dobson.
The right term for the people who paid Linda Lovelace to denounce pornography is "anti-pornography activists".
Again, I agree with your central point, which is that Linda Lovelace is not a credible witness, and that her anti-porn activism was as much work-for-hire as her work in porn movies had been.
Re: you can see her bruises
Feminists put that in her mouth. It's a lie.
Re: you can see her bruises
Wikipedia also exposes several blatant lies on her part:
Also
Before achieving fame, Boreman starred in a number of hardcore "stag" short features, including a bestiality film in 1969 called Dog *beep* or "Dogarama". She later denied doing this, only to have several of the 8-mm "loops" become available to prove otherwise
After the success of Deep Throat she starred in several softcore movies, which flopped (she maintained in her book Ordeal that Deep Throat was her only porno, and any other pornos in which she "appeared" were footage from that). She also appeared in Playboy, Bachelor, and Esquire between 1973 and 1974. Boreman attempted to break into stage and "legitimate" movies but found it difficult to overcome the stigma of her pornographic career.
In January 1974, Boreman was arrested for possession of cocaine and amphetamines. Also that year, Boreman published two pro-pornography biographies. In her later suit to divorce Traynor, she claimed that Traynor had forced her into pornography at gunpoint and that in Deep Throat itself, bruises from his beatings can be seen on her legs Boreman claimed in her 1980 autobiography Ordeal that the couple's relationship was plagued by violence, rape, forced prostitution and private pornography. Many of the assertions made in the book, however, particularly claims of rape and threats of violence at gunpoint, are contested by other parties who would have been involved or would have witnessed the alleged acts.
She had to sign the adoption papers herself, or else it would not have been legal, and she could have gotten him back. Besides that, who, at the age of twenty, doesn't understand the difference between foster care and adoption? It sounds to me like she just has a penchant for blaming other people for her own poor decisions.
she had given birth to an out-of-wedlock son when she was 20 years old in 1969, and that her mother put him up for adoption. Boreman mistakenly thought that the child was being put in foster care until she was ready to care for him and was heartbroken when she found out that she would never see him again.

well, it was actually in large part, exploitation of her by an abusive boyfriend.
she later claimed that almost every sex scene in the movie is a scene of her being raped.

Re: you can see her bruises
Linda sure looked like she was enjoying herself in all the scenes in Deep Throat. I guess the German Shepard had a gun to her head to when she made those 8mm beastality loops pre-Deep Throat. Also she made several more soft core films after Deep Throat, and Deep Throat II which was originally a hard core feature, but with all the trouble with the law after Deep Throat (1) came out, it was severly edited down to an R rated feature. Suposedly all the hardcore footage has disappeared.
Re: you can see her bruises
Where's the evidence that the sequel was orginally going to be a hardcore feature? Plus, ever heard of something saying that her husband forced her into doing porn films? I think there is some evidence on Wikipedia all though I'm not too sure.
Re: you can see her bruises
I knew Linda, we met in 1979 or maybe a year before. I know we were friends when I was expecting my son in 1979. the last time I saw her was around 1988. We bought some furniture from her because she was moving out west and didn't want to take much with her.
We were all living on Long Island at the time. Linda already had Dominic and shortly after we met she was pregnant with Lindsay. We all got together and gave her a baby shower. She was truly touched and said no one had ever done anything like that for her. I am pretty sure it was before Lindsay was born that Linda broke her leg playing hopscotch with all of us and our kids. She spent some time in the hospital and came home in a huge cast. We took turns caring for her at home as she couldn't get around at all.
Linda was married to Larry at the time. He used to be married to her sister Jean and thay had a son together. Linda and Larry had the two kids together.
She had a liver transplant before she moved out west and the last time I saw her she didn't even look like herself. It really bothered me to see her so swelled up.
She wrote the book Ordeal while we knew her and we would babysit for her during the writing. I never knew if I believed she was forced to make the movie as she claimed to be. I do know she got no money from that movie and struggled to make ends meet. The profits from the book went to buying a modest home on the same street she had been renting a house on.
Linda was atractive, much more so than she looked in Deep Throat. She was funny and intelligent. There was a sadness in her, sort of distant at times. She would only let a person get just so close. And yes, the bruises you see in the movie are real. But who is to say how they got there. I always figured when you are in that business you deal with a lot of creeps and pretty much anything is possible.

Re: you can see her bruises
Why did Linda have to have a liver transplant? I never heard that before. I knew she died in a car accident a few years ago. So sad.
Re: you can see her bruises
Re: you can see her bruises
So what? There isn't any disagreement that Chuck Trainor beat Linda nightly in their hotel room, usually for "having too much fun" on the set. That is, for doing what Chuck had told her to do, such as smiling more, or trying to be enthusiastic.
Later she claimed the "Deep Throat" cast and crew "stood by and watched" while she was being beaten, but in fact Chuck waited until they were in private in their hotel room.
Linda also claimed that no one tried to help her or protect her while she was being beaten. Actually, several cast and crew members tried to get her to leave Chuck Trainor for her own safety, but she clung to him and refused to discuss it.

Re: you can see her bruises
I read part of Linda Boremans (her real name) autobiography and the things she describes are so cruel and sick and humiliating I just can't imagine she made it up?!? She wrote her legs are still slightly disfigured for she used to curl up to protect her torso while being beaten by Chuck Trainor. She wrote that whenever she wanted to do anything (like taking a shower etc) she had to ask him for permission He forced her into prostitution and porn-movies, he made her get cosmetic surgery (because of that she later suffered from breast-cancer). When she said she had a gun pointed at her head during the shooting she may not have meant it literally but I think it's clear what she wanted to express. The money for her role (less than 2000 dollars) were given to her husband, I doubt she saw any of the money Chuck Trainor made her **** a dog (which she describes as a horribly humiliating experience that caused her real psychological damage), he threatened to kill her if she'd try to leave him. Linda grew up in an abusive family, her father was an alcoholic who used to beat her up, maybe she was used to being treated like *beep* When I read that book I could have cried. And when I read this thread where people suggest she might have made up everything to sell her autobiography (people who aren't even informed well) I could really get sick

Re: you can see her bruises
I read her book, too. I believe what she says happened to her. What I have a hard time believing is why did she not try harder to get away? She was not kept tied or locked up & was able to come & go when she went to "work". At one point, she was in the same room as her parents & didn't signal them that she was in trouble & yet she continued to stay with Chuck - even going back to him after she ran away & stayed with friends. After all that time she was with Traynor there had to be at least one time when he wasn't looking. She should of told someone - even one of her "johns" what was happening to her & ask someone to call the police for her.
Re: you can see her bruises
Things were different in those days. She was in the adult film industry and therefore her cries of help would have undoubtedly been met with, you made your bed, now lie in it. Women had no rights.
Re: you can see her bruises
Of course women had rights back then. It was the 1970's not the 1880's!
Re: you can see her bruises
I never been in such a situation but I read a psychological essay about how people adapt in abusive relationships. It totally manipulates your sense of normality or love, you get stuck in pathological patterns and you start to think you deserve the treatment you get or it's the only way of being intimate with another human being. And a person who gets herself in a situation like this at all can't be a very couragious, smart or strong person. So maybe she was just too frightened and thought if she'd left him he'd find her and kill her (or worse).
I think Judimex is right. The crew didn't react at all when they saw her bruises or heard Chuck Trainor slam her against a wall. That really must kind of kill your hopeyou just resign

Re: you can see her bruises
OneWrongMove says The crew didn't react at all when they saw her bruises or heard Chuck Trainor slam her against a wall.
That's just not true. The very people you say ignored Linda's bruises are the ones who begged her to leave Chuck for her own safety. She stonewalled them and clung to Trainor (except when he was beating her). Read their interviews in "The Other Hollywood, the oral history of porn."
Of course you want to believe that what she wrote describes what happened. But she never indicated to anyone at the time that she wanted to leave him. She depended on Trainor to make all the decisions, collect the money, and to tell her what she should do.
Her one skill, fellatio, was the only opinion she offered, and she went with the flow. I too wonder why she didn't make a move to get away from Trainor. But she didn't.
And not because she had a gun pointed at her, or because she was threatened on the set. Oon the set she appeared happy and often volunteered to perform her one trick on anyone interested.
It's a horrible story, and undoubtably had roots in how she was raised. So many women are abused and victimized. Where do they learn that they are stuck and have no options?

Re: you can see her bruises
I honestly think that being raised in a hyper-religious home is part of it. I have had a couple of friends who have similar personalities, ending up in horribly abusive relationships and being afraid and/or thinking they don't deserve to get out. Each of them came from EXTREMELY religious homes with abusive fathers, and the overwhelming message seemed to be that their only value in life was as a servant to men.
Re: you can see her bruises
But even in 1970s "mainstream" society, there was still the attitude of "you made your bed, now lie in it" where adult entertainment was concerned. (What a choice of words! And yet it seems to fit.)

Re: you can see her bruises
ha! what an ill-informed statement. regardless of the century, these things do happen. in fact, they still do happen till now.
Re: you can see her bruises
They do happen, but not in the courts. Courts today are overly pro-woman in both Abuse and Divorce matters.
Re: you can see her bruises
I too could write a book about being an enslaved sex worker, cruelly beaten and threatened by my husband and forced ot do many things on film. The problem is that it wouldn't' be true, seeing as I am a single male who simply has a decent command of the the English language. Most autobiographies tend to gloss over OR overdramatize events. A couple problems I have trouble with in terms of her veracity include her presumption that cosmetic surgery gave her breast cancer; this is simply unverifiable. Also, legs do not become malformed from assuming the fetal position regardless of the reason (except in very young children, when the bones are malleable to an extent.)
Quite troubling is the idea that used the "gun pointed at my head" over and over if it were not literally true. No wonder hubby never refuted the charges publicly; why bring up a dead issue when the accusation isnt' even a literal statement? He is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
I don't know how much of her statement is true and how much is false. I do know that in rape cases, unless you have physical evidence all you end up with is "he said, she said" and the divorce courts are full of horrible accusations that turn out to be demonstrably false.
We will never know the truth, so it is best not to presume one version over any other.

Re: you can see her bruises
I believe she had some sort of illness, possibly liver cancer. Anyway, the liver transplant is definitely a true story. I remember seeing her interviewed about it on the original "A Current Affair" back in the '80's.
