Hey I'm not the one who is shutting down these boards. I'm stating the facts that if IMBD is shutting it down because of trolls then why hasn't YouTube done it yet with there's. You get what I'm saying?

Nobody said it was because of trolls or unpleasant comments. The statement says that the forums are only used by a very small percentage of people, which is true.
There are the 10-25 hard core fans who agree about everything and spend their time attacking anyone that they consider to be a troll, and the 3-5 people that have a different opinion and are attacked as trolls.
That is how it is on even the most popular TV shows and movies. Just the same sanctimonious ass holes controlling all the discussions and attacking those who disagree.
I am glad these forums are shut down, it is not really a discussion forum, just a bully pulpit.

Youtube isn't as automatic as IMDB is. Also, the people putting up the content have the ability to completely disable comments.

Yeah Authors can monitore there comments section, plus they are a huge part of the concept of interacting with your viewers unlike IMDB boards wich are just places to talk about movies without any producers or whatever interfering

Where does it say in their message that it's being shut down because of Trolls? I get we as a majority ALL hate Trolls, but it states Data and Traffic. What constitutes as Data could mean a number of different things. Traffic, lack of I get. But then I always thought this board was busier than most I've logged onto. Which is why I am surprised it's closing because of lack of traffic for want of better words.

YouTube commenting is something I've never done. It's not like I'm doing to come back to a video I've already seen for the sake of conversation or anything. Not like here, where you come specifically to do that. That and youtube comments are almost always a mess anyways. Flooded with FIRST, and LIKE IF YOU HEARD OF THIS BEFORE, and so on.

Actually, if you're a part of Youtube, whenever someone replies to you, you get a notice on your dashboard.
So no, we don't always go back to the same videos. But we know when someone replied to us.

Youtube is not about commenting I have watched Youtube videos plenty of times and not commented. They also allow the poster to shut comments off so the option is available.
IMDb without the message boards seems pointless.
Also its the internet stop having thin skin. Trolls are people I will never meet they are just on the keyboard. Pretty easy to ignore.

So just because there is a lot of bad people around, you should just shut everything down? How about we take the whole internet offline and don't leave our houses anymore? Those people are not just on here and they're not just on youtube, they are everywhere. Cutting away the means of communication will not make them magically go away. It's a completely stupid and futile approach at a solution.
And I think it's a shame that the fools who came up with this "solution" are in charge of this website.
