Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

Holy crap!!!! She slapped him!!! Definitely different from before.

I don't even know what the case is.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

That scene had me on edge with the screaming, never seen Reid like that. I seriously thought he was using again at first

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

Way better than Seek and Destroy.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

I'm not directing this at anyone, folks, but I just wanted to put this out there. What is all the hoopla about Jane Lynch/Reid's mom coming back. I know she's a really good actor, but what makes her so special in this role in this arc? I've just never been invested in this scenario and her in it, even when I was watching, and I've never seen what was so special about it.

Please don't throw rotten tomatoes at me, folks, I'm not being mean, I just don't see it as being that special.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The story arcs with her in it were always good. She wasnt able to film really for a long time because of glee and other stuff and now that she's not busy, she was able to come back. There was always that hole there with an open ended storyline

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

I might just be imagining this, but I feel like I remember an interview with Jane from last year or 2 years ago where she was asked if she would go back to guest star on CM and she said if they asked her she would. So it seemed like they hadn't even asked her.

I wonder if Erica just assumed Jane would be too busy and wouldn't say yes. Because for so long Erica talked about wanting Jane to come back, but said she was too busy. Yet Jane made it seem like she hadn't even been asked.

Again, I might be completely making this up. I could have sworn I saw an interview of Jane from a TCA event or something when she was promoting her CBS show Angel From Hell show, but the interviews I've found don't have her talking about CM

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

They might have asked her agent who turned them down without informing Jane, knowing she wouldn't have been able to do it anyway. I remember a similar situation with Weird Al and Lady Gaganot that they have any relevance to CM.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

Don't worry sweetie, I have rotten peaches for you!

I think it's because it dives into Reid's backstory and emotions. I don't know about everyone else, but IMO, I think some of MGG's best acting is when he is with Jane Lynch. And last night proved it for me.

I love trolls, they taste like chicken.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

SouthunLady, no one would ever throw anything at you, rotten or otherwise, but someone needs to throw something at me, like a calendar - I totally spaced off that it was Wednesday and missed the episode, and am just now figuring that out! Yikes! And I wasn't even drinking!?!

Edit: Oh, NOW I remember, I was working on taxes got depressed and went to bed early. I should have been drinking.

As to the special quality of Reid's mom's role, I personally identify with Reid, in a way, because his childhood was so screwed up; his perfectly capable father abandoned him, and the mother who loved him was crazy. He had to figure out how to be an adult (and a gifted one) on his own. As a child, he was also the acting adult for a mother who couldn't parent. He has mixed feelings about his mother.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The case was a bit garbage but the side plot with Reid and Diana was the best in a while

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

Can someone please tell me I'm not the only one who didn't even follow the case? I was so invested in Reid's storyline. If someone asked me what the case was I'd be like, "yeah this dude uh sinkholes and stuff."

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The case was ridiculous. Sinkholes? Really?!?

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

He was upset about missing the annual Sinkhole de Mayo holiday.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

I'll admit, I have no idea what the case was about. I was too invested in Reid and Mama Reid to care. but I will do my best to get the jist of it.

Reid's back on the casesort of. I love that everyone was so happy he was back. And I gotta say that he and JJ's friendship has gotten better over the years. Even Rossi "There's my favorite genius". But anyway, poor Spencer. So after considering the possibilities, he has decided to have mom live with him. Smart, considering he's NEVER THERE!! First nurse already quit because mama is looney tunes and needs to be in a hospital. (JANE LYNCH, WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!)

Kudos to the medical examiner/anatomy professor for discovering a mark on 2 bodies. Am I the only one who thinks the BAU is quick to jump on a case? Since when is only 2 bodies (suicides I might add) considered high risk? Of course Alvez had to be the one to point out they were different.

Back to Reidsville. It's time to take your medicine. What the hell is Spence keeping locked up in a sock? Vials of some sort of medicine. Someone earlier pointed out they thought he was using again. Hmmm, is that why he knows how to get drugs? And what thethe noise that came out of mom's throat??? Am I hearing things?

OK, case no one cares about. Another guy commits suicide in front of his wife, and then she's dead. Mark on the guy, no mark on girl. Whatever. How did they find out about sink holes? Well Florida sure does have a lot. SINK HOLES EVERYWHERE!! And lots of unsubs.

Reid was able to find a new nurse, who told him straight up mom needs to be in a hospital. Then mom goes bat sht and dumps all the vials in the toilet. I swear, watching these 2 was awesome and heartbreaking at the same time. I don't think I've ever heard Reid yellever. Mom "I WANT TO GO HOME!" I think she meant back to Vegas? And then mama slapped him. Whoa Seriously, just give her an Emmy. And him too.

Back to the case nah forget it.

HANDPRINT ON REID'S FACE!!!! Pretty sure that was makeup, but what if it wasn't? And finally, the old Mama Reid is back. Going through her scrapbook, telling Reid he wanted to join the circus. Not knowing who Elvis is. Not knowing what happened to Reid's face. Justsad.

OK, now the case. So it was Spencer who figured out the sink holes were unsub's way of sending his victims to hell. Oh, I guess unsub's satan-hating parents were swallowed up by a sink hole and that's why he's crazy. Suicide = sin. Again, super-duper fast take down. About 30 secs I say.

Mama Reid "Who are you?" My heart sank. And he has to tie her up when she sleeps? Please, put this woman in a hospital. Reid's a genius, but he's not that smart with this.

I'm borderline with this one. Casewhat case? Reid and Mama get an A+, so that pushes it over.

Solid: 8/10

I love trolls, they taste like chicken.

Disappointed

I guess I am rhe only fan who liked the case. I am not a big Reid fan. A genius like Reid bringing his ill mother home was ill advised. She has bi-polar amongst other problems & could have easily flooded his apartment or set it on fire.

Re: Disappointed

Schizophrenia, not bi-polar.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The case was mildly interesting, and might have even been good if it had been given a full episode treatment. But the draw was, of course, Reid and Diana. A couple of things drew my attention: Diana, in a moment of lucidity, telling Spencer that he always believed he could solve any problem with his mind alone. That's what he's trying to do with her illness. Also, when she cries out that she wants to go home, where she was before, before. So poignant and tragic. It shows a certain arrogance and unconscious cruelty on Spencer's part, to take her away from the bright, top-notch facility in Vegas. First he puts her in unfamiliar surroundings in Texas, and then his dark, gloomy apartment. Finally, that mysterious medicine. I wonder where he got it, and if it will eventually trace back to Mr. Scratch?

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

No way to spin these horrible ratings

A1849: 1.3
A1834: 0.6
A2554: 1.9
TOTAL: 7.428

Last Year Future Perfect did a 1.9 in 18-49 demo. Entropy came back with a 2.0 in demo The following week was a rerun episode that did 1.2 in demo.

These ratings should pretty much seal CM's fate to the cancellation bin.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

I'm now MGG fan, not Reid.
I really disliked all the Jane Lynch hype that seemed to say that Reid has NOTHING to do with ratings but Diana is. Seriously?
We love Reid. Yes, there are some haters, vocal minority ugly fat pig Garcia fans.
But Reid is the only original cast and always viewers' fav.
Still Diana/Lynch was featured bigger than Reid/MGG.

I didn't watch.
Beside they never advertised the episode so much on TV.

Oh, and the rating didn't drop. Just as the same as the last episode.
I don't give a *beep* about NHNW. B/C in viewers' minds, MGG was too marginalized this season and already left too.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The message boards are being discontinued. Think maybe your deranged posts might have something to do with that?

Yep.

We got "Wheels up in 10." this time. And why? Was this that urgent as the other poster said with (just) two suicides? This is where art is not imitating real life. I think using the sink holes was cool. It gives Reid a chance to be brilliant, spew facts, and educate us all in the process, plus, with his genius mind he can share the reasons that lead investigators to find the unsub.

It was good to see the whole team working in tandem. I, too, worry about moving into the minds of the BAU and watching Reid step outside the borders and administer, only God knows what, to his mother. And like the other poster said, she's home alone while, actually, not being home at all. How could this brilliant mind ever think having her stuck in his (dark) apartment be a good thing, while he's gone 16 hours a day and left with a stranger? And how does he know the dosage of the, only God knows what and how he obtained it drug he's decided on his own to experiment with the one person he loves the most? Rossi's line was adequate. He did take his advice a tad too literally.

I kind of feel sorry for you guys with the disbandment of IMDb. Many of you guys have created great chemistry on the site. But, alas, the trolls have indeed ruined it for everyone.

Maybe I missed thiswhy was the unsubscribe burning himself?

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

Argh auto correct. Unsub.

Re: ***SURFACE TENSION*** Official Discussion Thread

The case may have stood out more if the Reid/Diana part had not been so good or if it was just about the case. I don't know I didn't pay much attention to it.

The roller coaster Diana was on and as a result Reid too was the only thing I cared about. That and that the team is so concerned about him( and his mother as well I'm sure).

From Diana slapping him to her lucid moments to not recognizing him was heartbreaking and heartwarming.
When she is lucid you can see she knows her son so well and clearly thinks the world of him.

10/10 for the Reid/ Diana part. I can't rate the rest of the episode.
