Well, being a christian myself, most christians I've met (in Europe) were either cultural catholics or happy-fluffy Evangelicals, who generally hide how they really think of you (you're going to hell sinner unless you become one of us) behind their fake smiles and happy songs. Ironically, most people I've met who acted in a similar fashion with you describe were atheists (or anti-theists)! There are definitely similarities between the way fundie christians and anti-theists act.

There are many for sure, but not just as many.

I haven't meet them in real life, but I have seen them here and there on the TV and Internet. Pat Robertson comes to mind. I sort of take it back, I've meet and argued with them online on IMDb's Religion board, one of the more asinine ones was Cryto( always the first part of his many screen names).

I always thought the whole Christian part was a farce. Especially with how he hires Hadley to kill the boy Tommy so that Andy can't get out. There's nothing good or Christian like in that.

It's just another case of Christian bashing. The way the picture industry depicts Christians is invariably negative, almost without exception. It's a tired and utterly predictable plot or character device. On the other hand, I have to say that it's use in this film is very effective and well written. I can give this one a pass because it's so intelligently done.

It depicts an insincere Christian and there are plenty of those.

A common misconception is that because a person professes to be a Christian or has or does known Christian-like things that they are a Christian.

One can't be a Christian if they don't try their best to lead a Christian-like life. That doesn't include breaking the tenets of the Bible (like sinning) on a regular basis. Jesus recognized (according to the Bible) that humans are not infallible and may make "mistakes" so there are steps one could take like asking forgiveness that would qualify a person as a true Christian. Not only forgiveness from God but from the wronged persons.

When film makers make a character's religion an important element in a film and then show they are a really an evil person I don't think it matters what religion the character professes to be. In the case of Christianity that doesn't make them a "Christian".

In fact, one of the things that turned me off Christianity was the people who wear their Christianity on their sleeves but whose actions are like a Satanist.

So YES, I've met many of this type.

Well you could, Jerry. Modern-day frauds are well-represented by Right Wing, Conservative Christians who will vote (or already have voted) for Trump, a man that runs counter to most things Christian. They are frauds because in churches they convince themselves that they are following the word of God but once outside in the real world they compromise their principles and somehow justify it. The warden in Shawshank is fiction, the ones I am referring to are all too real and are just as corrupt as the warden.

You can't get more un-Christian than Hillary even Trump is not that far gone. Trump didn't get his success by lying constantly and promoting socialism (i.e progressive). He may not be the most honorable businessman but he is certainly a salesman first class. I voted for Trump and religion had nothing to do with it. I voted for the person I thought was less evil than the other and/or the person who damage this country the least.

At this point, like Hillary says, "What difference does it make?" She's too far ahead in the polls, Trump won't be able to catch up because he lacks the humility required to tame his ego and change opinion at this late stage.

As for how Christians vote, I don't think the great majority of them worry about religion when electing a leader. The media just likes to think it so.
