The View : GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Good post. Years ago we all (well some of us) ran screaming in the streets literally throwing away our freedoms under the trumped up threat of Saddam Hussein's WMD.
Now, half the nation remains silent in the face of this very real WMD: Trump.

Good Morning pjpthere you go again, making the internet a warm, cozy, and considerate place in which to exchange, voice, and debate. I wonder, how long can you restrain yourself from resorting to name-calling?
Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Well, good morning to you too!
To answer your question, I REALLY gave up on making the internet "warm, cozy and considerate" months ago when the lefties insisted on calling our now Presdent Trump "Orange Man, Cheetoh Man", etc. Why don't you ask your fellow libbies why THEY are so rude and nasty?
"Exchange, voice and debate"?? Yeah, would be very nice if the left did not immediately resort to their retardo sexist, racist, bigoted, homophobic, and now transphobic argument!!
Name calling? To call it like it is is hardly name calling!! The left is intellectually bankrupt and morally dead, hence, I call you morons!

'The left is intellectually bankrupt and morally dead, hence, I call you morons!'
Wow. I'm sure you're probably aware that some of us moderate folks on the left have periodically entertained similar feelings about those of you on the right, but most of us see the inherent futility in resorting to calling someone a 'moron' or a 'leftard' for having a different perspective on an issue.
I agree with Trump that the world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. However, I find his proposals, appointments, and general demeanor counterproductive. I'll also add that none of my research into his past has provided me any assurance of his capabilities in making good on his promise to 'Make America Great Again'. Any one of the number of other candidates (besides Cruz) would have been a better choice. I'll also add that there are many of us who are capable of recognizing the failed policies of not only the right but the left as well.
Speaking generally and not personally, we'll all continue getting nowhere remaining prickly with one anotheropting for attacking rather than listening and seeking a workable compromise. I long for the company and camaraderie of those who, while passionate about their opinions, are capable of keeping a civil tongue whenever speaking to one another and aren't so high-minded that they see their voice as the only worthy one in the room and the one of highest moral caliber.
Now, since we only have a few days remaining, please tell me why you love "I Love Lucy" so much. It can't hurt you much to oblige.

Moderate folks on the left? Do you really exist?

Actually, it's the demeanor on the left I find most troubling. No matter what Trump does, liberals lose their minds.

You mean you protest the liberals constant use of violence as an adjunct to advance their political goals? You can TALK as civil as you want but liberals become physically VIOLENT. Do you miss that or something? Lots of videos showing them attacking and bloodying Trump supporters.
Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Well thanks for the reply. I appreciate that you you took the time to work out a thoughtful reply.
First, I must apologize that I call out "moron" and libtard. It is a failing of mine that I get so frustrated and it is easy to hide behind the anonymity of a post to say those things. I really don't call anyone names like that in person. May be hard to believe, but I really don't
But seriousy, calling Trump "CHeetoh Man" and any other number of insults, attacking his family, etc., I didn't see you address THOSE issues! But to be fair, maybe you never said those things yourself. But I DO get frustrated with hearing all the nasty name calling and I give in and respond in kind. Not the most mature thing to do. I know!!
Do you REALLY think anyone besides Trump would've been a "better choice", even Jeb Bush? Did you take a vote among the left on this board?LOL I think he would've been attacked in the same way as Trump!
Actually I do agree with your desire for the "company and camaraderie" of people who can be civil. That was something that went out the window at 'The View' site for me several years ago. I posted some opinions and thoughts on issues and was immediately labeled a REPUBLITARD, a RETHUGLICAN and a FOX BOT. I guess it just got to me so much that I immediately go into a defensive position. Of course that was back when there was a poster called Ceeloh (I think that was her name) and she just savaged me and any other conservatives who dared to disagree with her.
I Love Lucy? So you read my other post! I LOVE that show! Do you really want to know why? That could take days. LOL I grew up watching those episodes with my family. We watched Lucy every afternoon. Lucy was just good comedy. Lucille Ball was a great comedienne. She made me laugh. Some of her stunts were just wild and out of this world. I suppose you could say that it would be fun to imagine getting away with the stuff she did.
The Ricardos and the Mertzes had a great friendship even though they got silly and fought over trivial stuff at times. It was just great comedy.
Some of my favorite episodes were the Hollywood ones. I love the episode when Lucy bought a Don Loper dress. When Lucy met William Holden in the Brown Derby, classic episode!
One of my all time favorites was "Magazine Interview". It starts out with a messy apartment, typical morning of a married couple in bathrobes and sniping at each other. A reporter is coming to interview and photograph the Ricardos the next day. Lucy was totally different, groomed and dressed with a beautiful table set for breakfast. Just the typical phony way everyone would behave!
Lucy exaggerated life. She was funny. If you want to know more about what I think of the show, go to the I Love Lucy site. I've posted there a LOT! Any other questions? I'd be glad to oblige.

Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Like yourself I've seen those posts referring to Trump as "CHeetoh Man" etc. and view them as low-value distractions. Comments solely focused on someone's physicality and appearance, like weight, chest size, hair, etcare some of the lowest forms of discourse. However Trump himself has engaged in some of the same sort of criticisms and derogatory name-calling. Personally, although I can find tolerance for some of that sort of behavior within my fellow man, I abhor and find it disgraceful in those who've sought to represent me by public office.
Anyway, I thought we weren't talking so much about how some have chosen to describe public figures so much as referencing how disrespectful some of us have treated one another in our online exchanges. Your prior experiences sound horrible, unfair, and definitely unfortunate. I have a few of my own as well. Neither of us should find that surprising thoughthe internet has always been the bully-pulpit of some.
I wholeheartedly share your love of the Ricardos and Mertzes! As big a fan as I am of the "I Love Lucy" series, it surprises me how little time I've spent on that discussion board during my membership here. It would also take me days, well no actually it has taken me a lifetime so far, to explain why I treasure that show. Over the years, I've outwardly joked (while being dead-serious) that there's almost never been a tidbit from the show that I have not been able to relate to or recall and use to help get me through something with humor.
"The Fan Magazine Interview" is also one of my favorites! It's from the third season which was chalked full of good episodes: "Lucy Tells The Truth" (one of my all-time favs!), "Ricky Loses His Temper", The Girls Go Into Business", "Redecorating The Mertzes' Apartment", etc., etc., etc.

I think everyone realizes she's crazy and living in Shiny Pines Sanatorium. Her only outlet is during recreation time when they allow her computer access. She needs to let her frustrations out somewhere.
Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
LOL Shiny Pines Sanatorium! You must've thought long and hard to try to be THAT funny!! Wow! A leftie attempts humor. Sometimes I WISH I lived in a sanatorium. That way the government would be paying to support ME, just like it does for millions of illegals! As a leftie I am sure you know that America is supposed to support the world, so you wouldn't have a problem with the taxpayers supporting ME!
My madness? Some of it comes from listening to leftie insanity. After a while it gets to a person.
As the Jack Nicholson character said in the movie, "You can't handle the truth!!" So be it. And some of the lefties here wonder why we can't have a "civil discourse". Probably because of dopes like you!!
So tell me, WHERE do you let out YOUR frustrations? In your safe space, comic books, play-doh, coloring books and crayons??

Do you ever listen to yourself? There could be civil conversation, but you always go soooooooooooooooooo far off course, it's not possible. Oh well.
Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Yes I DO listen to myself. And that's why I feel bad for calling the left names! But I just can't help myself. You all are SO sure of your opinions! It IS so frustrating.
"Do YOU ever listen to yourself?" Yeah, actually I do and it doesn't make me happy when I get so mad! I'd like a civil conversation. How can we go about that? I would like it. So .you go first. Give me a civil reply. I WILL entertin a civil notion. Give it a try. No kidding. Not being sarcastic. Where do we begin a civil discourse? I am willing to start at the beginning. But how? I have a feeling you'll be snarky and I will respond in kind. And that's not right. I know. But WHERE do we begin? You go first. I'll listen.

It's a thankless job, but someone has to do it. It's sad when your isolated like that from the real world, and you have to listen to yourself, huh?

Oh pee! You are just such a sad little person! Even when someone admits to a failing, you just HAVE to be a putz and insult them! Okay, I get it. I should not be surprised at your behavior. You want Melania to be miserable, no wonder you want that for everyone else too!!
I guess it was a typo on your part, but it's not "your isolated", it's "you're isolated". I guess you were isolated from English class. LOL Actually there's not anything wrong with self examination or introspection. If you WERE the "good" Catholic that you profess to be, HA HA (there's a joke), you'd know that a person must examine his/her conscience and admit to faults. SoI admit to one and you, being a typical asshat leftie , insult me! Gosh, who WILL you insult when you can't come here?? Somebody needs a therapist!

Re: GOP lawmakers push for voter restrictions
Republicans plan to steal the next election:
Step 1. Have the President rail on about massive voter fraud, despite there being none.(Done)
Step 2: Use that hysteria to try and pass restrictive voter laws, taking aim at the democratic base.(Done)
Step 3: Make sure the Justice Department is led by a person known for restricting minority voter rights.(Done)
Step 4: Disband the third party agency responsible for making sure the elections are fair and free.(Done)
Step 5: Hope everyone is too busy complaining about the childish behavior of President to put up a fight.(On going)
We are the right dont have to try to steal anything.
TURN ON THE NEWS = THE LEFT HAVE BEEN DIGGING THEIR OWN GRAVE. .. we can't stop laughing at you foolsYour golden granny was in office for 30 years to work her way up to be a president and got BEAT by a guy who took politics up as a hobby a year and a half ago!
You now live in a world where Republicans control the White House, both chambers of Congress the majority of statehouses and governors mansionsat this point Trump could paint the white house red
Dont you have a protest to attend? I know you have nothing else in your pitiful arsenal but please keep the protest clips coming. At this point the world understands that the screeching worthless voice from the left is inconsequential but you are still good for a very nice laugh.
Hold on, let me get my bucket of popcorn!! I cant miss this
