The View : Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Instead, the boards were notoriously known for hosting some of the most pointless and hateful commentary around
Very true.
It amazes me how people post any type of crap and think it's okay or how people won't complain about it.
It has nothing to do with anyone having "thin" skin. People just want normal conversation.

I swear they were referring to pjs&pimples directly when I read that part of the article.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
LOL,, I'm still livin rent free in the pee-ster's head. Interesting experience seeing as how I've never been slumming before!! Still going out in style, like the putz that you are!!
Maybe you and your other delicate libby friends here haven't, but I HAVE enjoyed "productive conversations about movies, shows, actors, and other members of the entertainment industry" as the article stated. I have had many fun and fruitful times discussing old shows and favorites. There may have been disagreements at times, but mostly posters were civil, unlike at THIS board where people were routinely torn a new one for daring to express a conservative view!
Some posters tried to inject politics into sitcoms but I generally would avoid those conversations. For instance, I had no desire to speculate whether Andy Taylor and Barney Fife would vote for Trump or Clinton.
So "sorry" that I haven't backed down and caved in when confronted by your lefty, socialist, Clinton loving, Obama worshipping nonsense. You persist in talking like a fool and I cannot abide foolishness. You remind me of myself (to a certain degree) when I was young and dumb and did not think clearly. Yeah, the GOVERNMENT should be everybody's Daddy and pay for EVERYTHING. Every perversion should be at the taxpayer's expense. You have reduced political discourse, economics and social issues to the lowest common denominator, namelyWaaahh, boo hoo, gimme my stuff or you are a meany!
I sincerely hope you grow the hell up some day!!

I know. Pvd and monty et al can't even see their own hypocrisy.

I know you're a sockpuppet and think people are too dumb to see it. There you have it!

Sock puppet. That's your standard comeback. I'm no sock puppet. Instead of calling me names and accusing me of being a fraud why not address what I said? The truth hurts I guess.

That's right, sockpuppet.
There's nothing for me to address. You're calling me a hypocrite with no basis. I'm calling you a sockpuppet because you're only here to agree with the Trumpsters and call out posters they argue with. For someone that's supposedly from Canada, you sure are biased against the Liberal leaning people on this board.
Oh yeah, why didn't you address the article instead of trying bait PVD and I? Who is the hypocrite?

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Hey I've been called a libtard on this board. I'm as objective as it gets. I voted Liberal in the last Federal and Provincial elections here in Canada so take that as you will. And I already stated your hypocrisy, but for some reason you can't see it or are just unwilling to admit it.

Yeah, right. .
Simply don't address me or put me in your garbage and you won't have to hear from me.

We just paid $100,000 for Eric Trump's 2 night get-away-weekend to Uruguay. You must be furious about that - right? Speak of a perversion at taxpayer's expense!

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Well I am not happy about it if that's what happened.
But, I just can't waste endless emotional capital on being furious over what Washington doesand how our taxes are misused.
It is human nature, albeit one of the worst parts of human nature, i.e. greed. WE send our tax money to Washington and they manage to appropriate a large portion of it for personal use.
It goes on with BOTH parties. It's been going on since the early days of the Republic. I see no reason to spin your wheels over what Trump relatives are doing while you ignored Michelle Obama's million dollar vacations! Really!! What is the point? Why does one anger you and not the other? The ideology of the spender in question?

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Michelle Obama was First Lady. Eric Trump is a 30-something year old man, who we should not be supporting. He should not be supported by tax payers as he is an adult with no job that warrants us paying for his vacation expenses.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
Good retort pvd! Equating a First Lady's expenditures to that of a member of the President's family is a ridiculous comparison. By electing DT, we've opened ourselves up to this kind of exposure as they say within the world of accounting.

That is what you get when there is no real retort. Make crap up that has nothing to do with anything. I reading some the the "right" responses on other thread. They are so delusional.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
I honestly think it's a pre-emptive strike while Trump is in the Oval Office. He has allowed hate-speech and bullying run amok in this country for the past year-and-a-half and it's spread to social sites, as well (I can't believe some of the stuff I have read on FB these days). I think they are rather smart in closing down all the boards, rather endure much worse behavior in the coming months.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
If the message boards got out of control it's because the moderators allowed it. In the past I've seen posts that were deleted that were nothing more than poems and love notes from fans. When reported by those who didn't like it ,the posts were deleted. But I've seen posts that would make porn stars blush and when the user was reported nothing happened and the offensive posts would stay up for days. That's why many us would tell those complaining to use the ignore button but one or refused to go that route.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
I blame The Rats
These people get off on reporting people and this PC culture is hurting us.
How hard is it for people to deal with it by debating or having fun with it or ignore certain threads and people? Todays society is so soft and people act like they have this privilege of thinking they should never be offended.
There're no safe spaces and you can't police peoples language in the real world.

Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
I think it's because IMDb pro has become a standard in the industry because they could use an algorithm to purge language that contains certain words without needing a person/people to moderate. I think they allowed us to use it for so many years as a courtesy to create more awareness until they solidified their status in film and television. Now, they don't need us.
Re: Interesting article on IMDb's decision
And we won't need them after the 20th. I know very few people who come here other than to tune into the message boards and see what others are saying about a TV show, movie, actor, etc.
