The View : Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass

Yesterday, at what was supposed to be an "African American History Month listening session" at the White House. Trump said, "Frederick Douglass is an example of someone who is doing an amazing job, and is being recognized more and more." For those of you that don't know, Frederick Douglass was a 19th-century African American writer, orator, and abolitionist who died in 1895.
This is just cringe worthy. The man has no idea about who Frederick Douglass was. "He's doing an amazing job." Lol.. Just pathetic.
If Frederick Douglass, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr were alive today, he'd be calling them "bad dudes" and threatening to "send in the Feds."
It's probably just a matter of weeks until he flat-out cancels MLK Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day and changes them to Honor Trump the Messiah Days. We'll all be expected to wave silly, little red hats (made in China) printed with meaningless buzzwords and bow down to worship him for gracing us with his presence. Each event will, by government figures, will draw 20 billion people to Washington, even though there are 7 billion people on the planet.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass is an example of someone who is doing an amazing job, and is being recognized more and more."

Is this real? Did he really say that? If so, what a bleeping disgrace.

Re: Frederick Douglass

This is not fake news,or alternative facts. This is VERY real. He doesn't have a clue.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Re: Frederick Douglass

We should not even have a Black History Month any more. It's ridiculous.

Re: Frederick Douglass

We should not even have a Black History Month any more. It's ridiculous

Of course you would say that. You think your whiteness is supreme and rules all.

Re: Frederick Douglass

No, it's just that a Black History Month is obsolete. It makes no sense.

Either you are American or you aren't. If you aren't, then kindly LEAVE.

Re: Frederick Douglass

No, it's just that a Black History Month is obsolete. It makes no sense.

Maybe to you, but you don't have to observe it. Go on about your business and let others who want observe do just that.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Morgan Freeman has said in several interviews that he does not like the idea of a Black History Month. We don't have a White History Month. " So, why do we get only one month?"

Google this topic- Morgan Freeman and Black History Month.

Of course to kneejerk liberals who see racism ALL AROUND, this is another example of white sheets and hoods. WHEN will you folks grow up? Just a rhetorical question, don't expect a coherent answer.

Re: Frederick Douglass

I guess Morgan Freeman is not one of those stupid celebrities who should just shut up 'cause you agree with him.smh This was 12 years ago - do you know if he still thinks that way? How many Black people feel otherwise? Freeman does not speak for all Black people. Btw - Freeman is a great & successful actor. No one boycotted his movies & dissed him just because we disagree with his opinions, like people did w/Meryl Streep.

I would agree with him if the history of Blacks wasn't whitewashed (no pun intended lol) through the centuries. Black history is a big part of US history and we should know the truth.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Whitewashed?????

You really believe that black people have been vital to this country?

It was WHITE people from Europe who conceived of this nation! Go do Africa and see what has 'evolved' there as far as democracy.

It was WHITE people who fought and died to forge and protect this country and saved the world TWICE from fascism!

It was WHITE people who fought for equal rights, too!

And it was WHITE people who have given you EVERYTHING to give black people a chance to succeed!

You don't have to THANK white people but can you at least show SOME appreciation???????

You are the most racist people!

Re: Frederick Douglass

You are the most racist people!

No. You're the most racist person on this site. Why do you think your screen names keeps getting deleted? You're a racist troll and every reasonable person who posts here knows this. You can keep your few followers. May they burn in hell with you.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Good! Then why don't you liberals just secede from this racist nation or leave for Canada. Then you can finally realize what I have known all along. Without conservatives, America would fold! You liberals by yourselves wouldn't stand a chance. Conservatives would THRIVE.

Just stupid.

Re: Frederick Douglass

No, it's not stupid. It's quite logical. You hate America. You make that clear. So start your liberal paradise and you can then have ALL the illegals you want!

Re: Frederick Douglass

Most reasonable people should flag him with "Ignore user". I did a long time ago. From what I still see of his quoted posts, there is nothing at all of value in them. Just bile and insults.

Re: Frederick Douglass

I am appreciative - that all White people don't think like you.

Re: Frederick Douglass

But I am quite sure that most black people think (and vote) like you.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Yesterday, MSNBC let Tamron Hall go and people from the left threw a fit. A tweet went out that stated that getting rid of Tamron Hall was NOT a great way to start Black History Month

I find it very appropriate, she is black and NOW she is HISTORY.

Re: Frederick Douglass

No, it's just that a Black History Month is obsolete.

So is St. Patrick's Day, celebrating the Irish and their heritage - yet no one has mentioned getting rid of observing that day. Wonder why?

Ahhhh - maybe because it's a 'yuge' money-maker in America's liquor business, among other inudstries.

"Splodey heads keep splodin' " - Sarah Palin, 7-1-16

Re: Frederick Douglass

Oh, you can have a day for Black History.

How about the third Monday in January?

Re: Frederick Douglass

Seriously PVD, you continue to embarrass yourself by making asinine parallels which do not support your flimsy arguments anyway.

Saint Patrick's Day? Gee, help me with my math, but is ONE day the equivalent of a MONTH? You ought to know, bein so smart'n all!

It's a holiday. And Saint Patrick was not even Irish anyway!

A "yuge" money maker? Oh, gosh, surprise, surprise! A slam at Trump. You do know Saint Paddy's Day was celebrated BEFORE Donald Trump was born? And really!!! St. Patrick's Day is so "necessary" for successful booze sales? Stop talking like a 'tard.

Re: Frederick Douglass

Black History Month is celebrated in Canada too. It's not just an American thing.

Strong words coming from a loser stay at home mom with an 8th grade education.

Prove ONE thing that Ive stated that is NOT accurate. I have all day, and when you respond I will humiliate you beyond comprehension.

PS - why did you remove your quote about Acuras being sexy LMAO

You've already been proven a liar. I don't need to do anything and you've already been humiliated, so sit down and quit trying so hard.

More hot air from an obese single mother loser from the left. Ive been on this forum for over a month and have yet to see the person form a legible sentence let alone contribute a legible thought or opinion to any thread. At this point, Im embarrassed for her.

Re: Frederick Douglass

I just watched this, and though Trump makes me cringe (and didn't get my vote), that is NOT what he said. In fact, he said, "Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who's done an amazing job, and is being recognized more and more I notice." Still clumsily delivered, NO doubt (and as usual), but he did not say, "is doing" This misquote is a great example of an alternative fact; we should all be careful to stay true.

Re: Frederick Douglass

The quote is wrong, but I understand how the mistake was made. The correct quote, "Frederick Douglass is an example of someone who's done an amazing job, and is being recognized more and more," indicates a person who is still alive. To speak of someone who is no longer alive, you would say, "Someone who did an amazing job".

Re: Frederick Douglass

Yet that's more than enough reason for you and your fellow little nit-pickers to go ballistic over the remark.

Re: Frederick Douglass

You've seen no ballistics from me about this. This is a very minor little distraction. I save my ballistics for Trump alienating our friends, Australia and Mexico, and then relaxing sanctions on Putin for hacking the US election.

Yet that's more than enough reason for you and your fellow little nit-pickers to go ballistic over the remark.

The fact that this non-story has garnered about 30 posts so far, I think it would be safe to say that all of you went ballistic.

Try again.

Re: Frederick Douglass

No need to try again. I proved my point. Perhaps YOU need to try again.

Re: Frederick Douglass

As usual, a lot of the posts are from you and your brethren attacking other posters or liberals in general, which is usually all you contribute. Nothing about ideas and the topic at hand, just attacks on other posters.

mrbean87852: I liked the fact that you remained the calm in the storm generally. Your posts made their mark without scorching the earth. Thanks

Re: Frederick Douglass

This is like when liberals accused Trump of saying that all Mexicans are rapists, when that is not at all what he said.

Re: Frederick Douglass

It does not indicate Douglass is still alive. It indicates his actions are still alive and resonate with many people today. And more every day.

That is true of any great historical figure.

When I read a book, such as 1984, the ideas in it are very much alive and important, even if Orwell died long ago.

You are nitpicking Trump to the point of absurdity when all he did was honor Frederick Douglass. Shame on you!

Re: Frederick Douglass

Although I do agree that Trump's latest goof of the tongue is a molehill being made into a mountain, Trump has only himself to blame for the confusion over this. As inept as he continues to be, I too doubt he actually thinks Douglas is still alive.
I'd say it's simply yet another (very minor) example, within a steady stream of much more significantly larger ones, of why he is so unfit to govern.
Those that continue to make excuses for Trump and argued that Obama made the world laugh at us haven't even begun to imagine what's inevitably to come.

Re: Frederick Douglass

And yet, some posters on this board still seem to think "tard" is an appropriate name to call another. Or, as I notice everywhere, "libtard" or any such off shoot of retarded. Watch the struggles of challenged children and I dare you to use the word again.
