The Omen : Question

Question

During the zoo scene we know he scares the crap out of animalsbut one scene shows him before the zoo, feeding ducks and swans at the park..

Why do they show no fear of him like the zoo animals did?

Didn't know if this is a goof on the directors part or if he can turn his creepiness on and off :)

Re: Question

I have a theory or maybe its just an excuse for the film's discontinuity on that part. But it still makes sense. I think that Damian doesn't starting knowing and feeling he's different(the son of the devil)until about the time of the nanny hanging herself and Mrs. Baylock arriving. Although. he clearly seemed to be doing something supernatural to make Kate's cell phone ring(with nobody on the line) so he could run off and then scare her. But even that was innoccent play and he seemed sincere when he said he didn't mean to scare her. He only starts to act differently and mean to the mom after Mrs. Baylock arrives. But I think his first awareness of something is when he seemed to recognize the black dog at the party and waves to it. Somaybe he didn't scare the animals at the very beginning because he was not tuned into who he was. But whether or not that is true I think he probably acted like a normal kid until the party disaster and Mrs. Baylock arriving

Re: Question

I agree with this. If Damien is a perversion of Christ, then it makes sense that he would have a coming of age and realization about his power the same way Christ did as a child when he detached himself from his parents to visit the priests saying, "I was in my father's house."

Re: Question

Also not sure but I would guess that Christ(because he was not a normal human being) probably never got sick like other people around him. And even after dying on the cross he came back to life. I think maybe the antichrist paralles Christ in may ways(for example not being able to get sick) except that the antichrist uses his power for evil. And when you think about it you always think of superheroes as being untouchable in a way. If a child never got hurt or sick they would almost be looked on as great and super human. If someone talked about how their child never got sick(like Kate does in that one scene) usually its in a context of admiration and pride. Like their child was special. But Kate knew that it was unnatural in a bad way.
