Four Minutes : Oh, Give me Back my Freedom! (SPOILERS)

Oh, Give me Back my Freedom! (SPOILERS)

What a splendid dialog this was! And what a great movie this is!

I just watched this movie two nights ago, and have not been able to stop thinking about it.

In one of the many fantastic dialogs between Traude and Mtze, she says "oh, give me back my freedom" and Mtze completes the sentence with "and wash away the shame with blood in battle".

Afterwards, Mtze decides to 'wash away' his shame by letting Jenny out of jail, even though as he puts it "all hell will break loose".

Based on dialogs between Traude and Mtze, I would expect this "Oh, give me back my freedom" dialog to come from an opera, but which?

Re: Oh, Give me Back my Freedom!

If I'm not very much mistaken, it's from Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin.

The German text is:
"O, gebt mir meine Freiheit wieder,
Und ich wasch' weg die Schmach mit Blut im Kampf."

I agree, the dialogue is fantastic!
