Game of Thrones : Was Tywin afraid of the Iron Bank?

The most powerful man of Westeros. Think about it the Iron Bank has no loyalties, everything they do is just business and of course the only thing they care about is numbers and the throne is absolutely bankrupt owing millions in debt.

Everyone is afraid of the Iron Bank. No one has that amount of wealth in Westeros.

Its no coincidence that a temple full of mercenary assassins is hanging out just down the street. Tywin knows if he cant comply, then they will do what needs to be done to find someone who will, and pull the strings to put them into power.or strongarm him into seeing things their way.

Like any bank, they aren't worried about being paid in full immediately, they simply require a steady flow to continue in their direction. The crown squeezes juice from the entire kingdom, and much of that flows into the Iron Bank coffers and back into profitable circulation. The reason KL stays in debt regardless of how much they borrow is that payments on old lendings must remain current, therefore the crown is often forced to look to sources within the realm to keep these payments running, whether it be Lannister gold or from other wealthy families in return for non-monetary favors.

To quote historian Kenneth Clarke:

Edward III calmly defaulted on his debts. What were moneylenders to the father of the Black Prince?

Of course, Edward's moneylenders didn't have a cult of assassins to call in.
