Game of Thrones : Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Before the board is over I wish to discuss the annoyance which is Jon Snow.

TYPICAL "low born" raised in a highborn house. (Cliche outcast trope) so he's automatically got the audience's appreciation for being a the underdog.

Then he gets sent off to the wall which it becomes obvious soon that the location will be ground zero for the end game. (So again we're rooting for his storyline).

Then he has the coolest Direwolf with the coolest name. (Again outcast of the pack so we root for it and Jon alike).

Gets given a valyrian steel sword.

Then becomes Lord Commander of the nights watch.

Gets given an epic battle sequence that's not even in the source material. In fact gets 80% of the battles in the dam show.

Dies then comes back to life with ZERO consequence!?? In the world of ice and fire!!?? Zero consequence!!!!

Then he goes on to take out the boltens.

Gets titled the best swordsman in the North by Ramsey.

Titled King in the North later on.

Oh let's not forget he is suddenly revealed to be half Targ.
So now he has rights to the Iron Thrones (which he won't care about because he is such a perfect character that wouldn't want the power).

And the fact people actually WANT him to be Azor Ahai is beyond belief!?? Jerk him off while you're at it! Like, seriously

Oh so now he's ALSO able to ride Dragons I guess. Let's give him that also. So many characters in the series and one person claims it all.

Honestly they need to tone him down or just kill him off.
But of course they will kill off eventually and say "that's his consequence". Yeah what in the last episode killing the dam Night King or something? Die a bloody hero too!?

The story of GOT is amazing and fairly unpredictable. But Jon Snow belongs in a dam fairy tale.

Someone had to say it.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

See Dany.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Lol I was almost going to make one for her too but I'm hoping she gets killed for going mad. AT LEAST that's a flaw.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

agreed, though hers is a even bigger joke, the show runners have made a point of making jon seem like an idiot

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

You gotta be joking right? Compared to Dany who uses her show fiction fireproof BS and her dragons. Jon dies at least and gets injured in battle heaps.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

As I said in a comment above at least Dany will die (probably not like a hero hopefully) at least.

And well as I also said in the OP the reason Jon gets wounded in battle heaps is because he's in 80% of them. Maybe even more! That alone annoys me.. He's a main character, yes. But not the only one. Where's Tyrion gone? Jamie? Jamie had the biggest side mission last season while Tyrion was making jokes. Meanwhile everyone is jerking Jon off.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Jon is extremely lucky, rather than being overpowered. Stannis saved his ass at the battle for the wall, and ditto the Vale army for BotB. In fact he kind of came out of the latter battle looking like a bit of a doofus. Jon is skilled as a swordsman but that makes sense as he grew up in a highborn household and received the best training money could buy. But it's been said time and again, that Jon isn't very smart, making decisions or blindly charging into situations that end up getting people killed - including himself briefly. The fact he is still alive and now a king is mostly because there is someone up high who definitely has a sweet spot for him.

The one who is really overpowered is Dany, being a fireproof superhuman who has three dragons at her command, and armies of men throwing themselves at her feet, simply because she has silver hair and tits.

Una!

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

I'm not trying to get into details so much. Simply put everything "cool" on the show is around him now. From a viewers perspective he is the only thing that has something exciting going on for him. In previous seasons that excitement and awesomeness has been spread out. Tyrion is a joke maker now, Jamie ties off loose plot ends Dany is. Dany. Arya washes bodies for a season then kills a few people.
Bran is maybe the only exception. But Bran at least isn't "lucky" with EVERYTHING. Really Jon should just be dead. He died.. Anything he does after that is such a cheat.

Like it wasn't a cheat for Cersei to just happen to gain access to Wildfire, or Arya to survive getting stabbed multiple times? Hell, in a medieval society you'd have next to zero chance of surviving having your hand cut off and then not treated, so there goes Jaime. The only ones who aren't cheating are the old guard characters like Tywin, Olenna, and Roose.

You don't have to be faster than the shark

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Dany and Jon have the most solid plot armor a Westerosi blacksmith could make, her fireproof power being the most blatant.

One thing I'd like to add is that coupled with her beauty is the power or persuasion and charisma, those are legitimate skills that every major political, military or aristocratic figure in history has needed to exercise power.

She convinced the unsullied to fight for her because she freed them and was able to inspire them, that had little if nothing to do with her looks.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

Jon wanted to go to the Wall bc they sold him a idealized version, like the BS they told Sansa about being a princess.
But yes, Jon' story is basically GRRM/D&D's version of Hans in Luck, about someone with a below average IQ winning everything, including the heart of Lyanna.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

In other words he's a cliche

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

There is no such thing as overpowered.

People who complain about the series suddenly turning into a fairy tale haven't been paying attention. There have always been an abundance of cliches. People just ignored them because most of the series has been focused on petty squabbling.

GRRM didn't avoid cliches. For fook's sake, the politics is based on medieval Europe, which is the biggest fantasy cliche of them all. People just project their own distaste for cliches onto his books, and they are about to be sorely disappointed.

There is no such thing as overpowered.

Superman was ridiculously overpowered during the Silver Age.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

He EARNED it all, unlike people like Jamie or Joffrey.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

I don't think you know what "overpowered" means.

Re: Jon Is SO Overpowered.

He's a main protagonist,a fan favorite, good looking heartthrob hero, what do you expect?

And he's not without flaws. John is one the worst strategists in the show, and would have gotten his A$$ handed to him in the Battle of the Bastards if the Knights of the Vale didn't arrive in time.
