HGTV Design Star : Hilari's elimination tonight was bogus

Ironically enough very early in the season I didn't think much of Hilari's design aesthetic. I didn't expect her to last long but as the competition progressed she has really impressed me and she has designed some of my favorite rooms (i.e. I loved her 80s inspired room as well as her condo and felt she should have gotten the win for both challenges) She was hands down the mos natural and authentic on camera. I also preferred her room for the yurtz challenge. She more so than the others adhered to the challenge. Her space felt very luxurious and the ridiculous critique about the dead space in either side of the beds was not that big of a deal.

It just seems to me like the judges already had their minds made up. She has such a great spirit. I hope to see her some time in the future with her own show.


ETA: I would definitely have preferred Danielle stay over Brittany. Brittany is a good designer but she just feels a little dime a dozen to me as does her designs and her on camera personality is cold.

Agree 100%. There have been multiple occasions where Danielle should have been sent home this season, yet she's going to end up winning this thing. Why even have this show if the producers have already selected the winner from the beginning? Just give her a show already.

Serious question to this board: How is this season any different from Antonio's season, where the winner was pre-determined from the start? Yet, I don't see half the outrage over Danielle being deemed the "chosen one" that there was when Antonio was in the same position. Just wondering.

I was very surprised that she was eliminated as well. Yes, in the beginning I didn't think she had the potential but she hung in there - and her on air persona was really good. I thought for sure Danielle or the blonde chick would go

That blonde chick should have went home. Her room was so freaking dull and that bed was so ugly. Who cares that it rolled. Who is gonna want to do that in real life, especially staying a few nights in a Yurt? Move that thing around? Give me a break. Also she's boring on camera.

Hillari's room was very cool and loved the bed. Dead space? Really, Genevieve? If you rented that place for the night.don't ya need a little space to put on clothes, especially in that weird Yurt?

I really hate to think that they wouldn't have two black finalists, but I predicted they were going to eliminate Hilari probably because I was thinking just that.

On that note, I think it was sort of obvious all along that Danielle was going to be in the finale, I just didn't know which blonde would be there with her.

To me, Danielle wasn't a sure thing, but she has been the one I rooted for. Last night, I was afraid she'd be sent home instead of the blonde (who I wish was long gone). I *never* thought Hilari was going home! She not only designed a beautiful room for the yurt, she handled the on-camera crash beautifully!

Nobody remembers the blonde's name - funny It's Britany - I never would have guessed that name. LOL

Totally bogus. I was completely shocked when they say her name because it seemed to have come out of nowhere. Of the 3, Brittany should have gone home.

And have to agree with whoever said, they were probably too afraid to have to black finalists.

If you can't walk and talk/text at the same time, do the rest of us a favor and get out of the way.

I completely agree. Not only is she a good designer but she is great in front of the camera. She handled that mishap with the bed well on camera challenge. She was entertaining to watch. It should have been Hilari and Danielle in the finale.

For as much as I have loved Danielle's spirit and her designs, she sorta fell flat on the yurt challenge and either she or the blonde shold have gone home. Hilari made it further than I thought she would, but her yurt was colorful and beautifully done. The "dead space" critique was a total bunch of BS.

I was also surprised that Hilari was eliminated when she was. I thought she was the most talented designer this season and she was good in front of the camera, too. I disagree about the yurt room, though the bed was cool, but all the purple satin looked tacky to me. But I think they had just decided to move her out of the way for Danielle, so their "empty space" reason was just an excuse to eliminate her. While I liked Danielle, I thought her wins were bogus and that other designer deserved the win more on those challenges. Danielle won on the strength of her personality rather than her talent, IMO. But the camera loves her and she's comfortable with people, so perhaps that weighed things in her favor.

Well, apparently, HGTV was listening because we have the 'Hillary' show on. Otherwise named as HGTV Design 'All Stars'. Everyone know YELLOW lovin Hillary is going to win. The other blonde is also on the show and we all know that her bitchiness is not going to give her a chance in the final.
