Game of Thrones : Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

I don't know why the last thread was deleted, so let's try again. And I changed it to "share your thoughts on" because another poster kind of inspired me to do it and I'm trying to encourage people to actually explain why they liked/disliked what they saw instead of just slapping a number on and calling it a day. Though if you still just want to rate it and don't feel like going into detail, I won't stop you.

The Wire Season 2- already went into this in length in the previous thread, so I'll just say that despite having to get accustomed to another new setting and new group of characters, it ends up being as enthralling and smartly written as the first season. It was ballsy putting Avon and co. in the backseat, but it payed off. Frank Sobotka's probably one of my all time favorite TV characters now, and the rest of my favorite characters were great once again.

Deadwood (rewatch) 3x05 - 9/10

Damn, that fight was every bit as good (and horrible) as I remembered. This first half of the episode has very little going on, to the point where I was almost a little bored and disappointed with the episode. Luckily, it really picked up from the fight scene onwards, with some really heartbreaking moments and a killer ending. Season 3 is so far the weakest season as I remembered, but it's still excellent.

Healy is just as much of a pr-ck in this show as he is in Orange is the New Black.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Demon Pazuzu probably nuked the last thread but again, Exorcist 1x01, 3/10. Don't mess with the classics.

The show has established itself as an independent cultural phenomenon, even if GRRM still shows up for the Emmy photo shoots. Prove is that the number of (US) viewers is still increasing every year.
However I'm sure GRRM won't have any problems selling WoW once it's published, same for A Dream of Spring in the year 2525.

Deadwood (rewatch) 3x06 - 9/10

Another strong episode. The Aunt Lou had been pretty annoying up until now, but the introduction of her son has given her character another layer of complexity.

Can I just rate it or do I need to give actual thoughts on it now?

You can just rate it if you want to, I'm just trying to encourage more discussion.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

The Americans 2x04 (first time watching the show!) I have a hard time reviewing or ranking individual episodes when I am binging something. But my general impression of The Americans thus far is "HOLY SH-T!" What a fantastic show! I've been meaning to watch it for like 2 years now but somehow never got around to it, but love love love the show, so glad that I finally did. If it keeps on strong it'll end up high on my fav shows of all-time list for sure (somewhere in the TOP 5 even.) I particularly appreciate the even portrayal of the Soviets and the Americans instead of the normal "better dead than red!" all-American hero type of a mindset.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Yay, someone else who watches The Americans! It's such a phenomenal show, definitely one of the very best on TV right now. So far, I think each season has just got better and better, and the first half of S4 in particular is one of the best television runs I've ever seen.

It's constantly shown that Martha is frustrated that 'Clarke' doesn't spend enough time with her. It's not like it's a genuine marriage, at least from his perspective. It's a part of the job.

Nice, that sounds promising! I love shows that just keep getting better and better every season but there are relatively few of them in my opinion. So excited about this show now.

Rick and Morty S2E5 (or 6): Total Rickal (or something like that)

10/10

Absolutely amazing and hilarious. The characters they came up with were too damn funny. It is a 25 minute episode, go watch it. Then watch the entire show today.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Veep 3x02 - 9/10

3x03 - 10/10

This show continues to be one of the best comedies on TV right now, and S3 is even funnier than the first two. JLD is probably my favorite comedic actress of all time.

Insecure 1x01 - 7/10

Not as good as I had heard, but it was mostly entertaining, and Issa Rae is a likeable lead. I'll probably watch the next one to see if it gets better.

I'm pleased to see my bitching and moaning has paid off. It also got me a red warning, but still worth it.

But I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen anything recently, so I have nothing to contribute. Looking forward to Westworld with all the rest.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

I'm so f-cking excited for Westworld. Now that reviews have started coming out, I'm confident that it will be at least good. Hopefully it's much more than that.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

The Wire 3x03 Dead Soldiers- 8.5/10

Enjoying this season a lot, the new dynamics that Marlo's gang and Carcetti's "littlefingering" bring are very interesting and compelling. The pacing is also refreshing by more or less cutting to the chase and planting us in the middle of the detail with homicides being through the roof.

Only thing I'm not big on is Cutty, but I'm willing to give him more time before making up my mind. Also, it really sucks that Cole's actor died and they had to write him off the show. On the plus side his wake was a really nice scene.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Boardwalk Empire 1x10 - 9.5/10

Absolutely amazing episode, and the easily the best episode yet of the series. Every scene was incredible and had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the scene where Jimmy beat up the guy who was with his wife. Nelson was again f8cking awesome in the episode..the scene with him and Margaret was great and his last scene where he was having sex with Nucky's old girlfriend was one of the best acted scenes in the show so far.

I'm entirely sure that you're entirely sure what I'm implying.

The Wire series finale - 100/10

Perfect ending to an incredible show.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Whenever people make 'best series finales' lists, The Wire is almost never mentioned, which I find shocking seeing as, for me, it might just be the best of them all (it's between it and the Six Feet Under finale).

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

American Horror Story Season 6, Episode 2: I can't say I love this season so far, but it feels like it's the best the show's been since season two (though season four started out pretty strong). Even though it's still not scary, I appreciate that they're actually returning back to doing traditional horror this season, rather than just being gory or bizarre like the last three seasons have been. I also like the fact that this season is more confined, and that, so far, it's been restricted essentially to just three main characters. It's always been a weakness of the show that they try too hard to accommodate to the large cast that there's just far too many characters written into the story. I'm glad that they've avoided that so far this year.

Also, Sarah Paulson is surprisingly not awful this season. She doesn't really have anything "special" to do with her character this year, and it's done wonders for her. Lily Rabe is still miles better as the same character, though.

Friends don't lie.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Sarah Paulson is surprisingly not awful this season

Huh? Sarah Paulson is a phenomenal actress.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Anyone who actually watched People v OJ would know that Paulson was brilliant in that show. I think she deserved that win (though I won't argue with Dunst fans, as she was also incredible). She's been really good in everything I've seen her in.

Kinda disappointed in some of the reactions on that thread to be honest.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Your opinion, man. I find her bothersome and often totally unbelievable and forced.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

Boardwalk Empire Season 1 - 9/10

What an incredible season. One of the best written seasons of tv ive ever seen, I love how all the characters are given a moment to shine..almost every character in the show has a personality of their own and you do care about almost everyone. Also I love the look of the show..some of the green screen is pretty noticeable, but overall it does a fantastic job at recreating the 20s, with it's set and costume design. As of right now, Nucky, Jimmy, and Nelson are 3 of my favorite TV characters and 3 of the best performances I've seen on television....I hope they don't die 😓. Also I gotta talk about a part that actually made me tear up a little..which was the scene in the season finale..when Nucky talks about his wife, and his dead son...goddamn Buscemi, definitely one of the best acted scenes of the season. As for problems, almost all of it are technical stuff. Like I said some of the green screen isn't that good, and also I noticed quite a few dubbed lines in the first half of the season.

Can't wait to start Season 2.

I'm entirely sure that you're entirely sure what I'm implying.

Seasons 1-4 are good-not-great, and then it quickly goes down hill.

Re: Share your thoughts on the last TV episode you saw 4.0

The first two seasons are solid, with the exception of that obnoxious Brit character in the second season. Third season gets a little too much hate. Fourth season gets a little too much love as it has some pretty bad filler and focuses too much on the less interesting characters. The rest of the show ranges from decent/underwhelming (season 5) to garbage (majority of season 6) to pretty good (first half of season 7) to garbage again (second half of season 7) to mediocrity (first half of season 8) to downright hilarity (second half of season 8). The first season still reigns supreme. Season 2 feels like a final season (which it should've been), so if you want you could stop there.
