How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

I dont get how this works??? Usually the defending winner gets in automatically if still working. I'm shocked that neither Jim or the show got a nod...

Re: How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

I think the Emmys ego usually vote the same winner ever year instead of the best performance or show...... Are trying to FORCE themselves to choose other people.

That's why Jim and the show were excluded.

Emmy voters are usually lazy and sadly not hip to the times in my view.

If Jim was in..... He would just win again right? Deserved or not.

Look at Modern Family.

No way that's the best Comedy every single year. Yawn.

Re: How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

Julianna Margelies got snubbed as well after winning last year. The voting patterns are odd with her too, she won in 2011, got nominated in 2012, got snubbed in 2013, won in 2014, and got snubbed this year. They kind of lose their credibility when it starts to look like a lottery.

Re: How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

Kyra Sedgwick, Eric Stonestreet, Merritt Weaver all had been dropped after winning so not a surprise. Jeff Probst won 4 Reality Hosts and then totally dropped too.

That's the way the voting goes sometimes.

Re: How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

It's not really a surprise. There is an element of voter apathy that can set in with the Emmys sometimes, awarding the same performer repeatedly when they are given clear evidence that there are better, more worthy options too.

Esp when a category is very competitive and stacked with talent.

Same goes for Julianna Margulies spot (a 2-time winner for the Good Wife) who made way for new talent like Tatiana Maslany.

It's great when the Emmys does this (not often enough IMO) but at the same time they keep nominating incredibly uncool, unexciting and tired shows that have become long in the tooth and parodies of themselves - like House of Cards, Homeland and ugh Downton Abbey which does not deserve this constant Emmy love when even Britain's own BAFTA awards last nominated the show for its 1st or 2nd season.

Perhaps everyone got sick of him winning! LoL

Re: How is a defending winner not a shoo in? - Jim Parsons

Who told you that? The Emmys choose what they think was the best of the specific year. The quality of a performance isn't on the same level every season... or every episode, for that matter. I'm not saying the voters didn't like Jim's performance this year. I'm saying that they thought others were better.
