Television Awards : Does Anyone Know Why The Emmy Telecast Was Run Twice?

Does Anyone Know Why The Emmy Telecast Was Run Twice?

At least, it was in the Bay Area, where it aired on Fox station KTVU in Oakland.

I tuned in at 10, to see the news. I thought they were just showing a highlight from the Emmys as part of a story. But, it was the entire show being run a 2nd time.

Re: Does Anyone Know Why The Emmy Telecast Was Run Twice?

The awards aired live across the U.S. (8pm eastern, 5pm pacific). The Fox network probably aired a replay of the show for the 8-11pm time slot for local Fox stations on the west coast who chose to air the replay. In my TV market (Seattle), the Fox affiliate aired a locally-produced Seattle Seahawks post-game show after the Emmys instead of a replay of the Emmy Awards.

This is not unusual. NBC has done the same thing with the Golden Globes for the past few years: airing the ceremony live at 5pm Pacific, then airing a replay at 8pm Pacific for west coast NBC affiliates.

Thanks. I had never seen that, before.

That same Fox station carried the "Niners" game, just prior to the Emmys Red Carpet coverage. Opting not to carry a post-game show for that ugliness was truly a sound programming decision.
