Just so people know, there is a scene in this movie where you see one of the Vikings take a dump. No, really. I know the director was shooting for realism with this film, but come on! I'm a Viking Age reenactor who collects Viking movies and this one will NOT be going into the collection! Besides, the "realism" was so-so anyway.

What other Viking or Norse historical movies can you recommend?

Well, I haven't seen a Viking movie yet that was TOTALLY historically correct. Here's my list of not too bad "historically" Viking films:

Revenge of the Barbarians AKA Hrafninn flgur (more things right than wrong in this one)

The Viking Sagas (there are some things right here)

The Littlest Viking (it's supposed to be a kids movie, but there are adult situations. It got a lot right.)

Whatever you do, pass up "A Viking Saga: Son of Thor", "The Norseman", "Pathfinder" (not really a Viking movie), any Italian Viking movie, and "Severed Ways".

Just for fun I recommend "The Vikings", "Erik the Viking", and "Outlander" (a Viking science fiction movie!)

Valhalla Rising is the Viking movie to end all Viking movies.
