Pearl Harbor : The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day...

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

Well, why would you humanize a group of people who allied themselves with the Nazis?

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

If you're going to go that route then you need to follow your logic all the way to the source.

Hitler and the Nazis learned more about how to deal with the Jews and the other millions of concentration camp victims by the USA's horrid policies in eugenics and a belief in white supremacy as well as in the USA's treatment of the Native Americans and Black people.

I pray for the weak minded such as your self.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

How laughable that you call me weak minded.

Were you a person of any depth, faith or character, you might have tried replying to the information and links I provided. I am always interested in learning from others and engaging in an intelligent and considered discussion.

Instead you tread the path of ridicule under the guise of prayer, betraying the true meaning of prayer itself and in that act, you shame your God. You epitomize the meaning of a "wolf in sheep's clothing" or at best a "blind fool".

But you are certainly good at projecting. I'll give you that, lol.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

"Yet because genetics research is global, no single nation's law can stop the threats." That after the US Senate voted unanimously to outlaw any discrimination based on eugenic research.

The most important line in the whole story.

I don't see anywhere that the early 20th century's eugenicists were advocating the mass murder of the undesirable races.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

Very poor cherry picked quote my friend. The fact that you "don't see" from the number of articles shared is in itself a mute point.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

I wouldn't say that. If anything, I'd say Bay went out of his way to show that the Japanese were attacking the US because they were desperate for resources, and that some Japanese brass, even though desperate, knew that it was a bad idea. We see the perspective of young Japanese pilots writing home, even signaling American boys to flee the area about to be bombed.

We see or hear nothing about what Japan is doing in China and Southeast Asia, the atrocities being committed, or Japan's history of trying to emulate Western imperialism.

Like the version of The Alamo that came out a few years later, I'd say it was balanced and fair, certainly not racist.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

Well, maybe they shouldn't have been so Villainous then?

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

Speaking as a Military Historian the way the Japanese were portrayed in this film was actually highly accurate. The film strayed off course with the hokey characterizations of the American characters and the silly Romance plot however.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

They were portrayed accurately. I went to pearl harbour 2 weeks ago and they were the bad guys.

Re: The Japanese may as well have been the aliens from Independance Day.

If you went to Nagasaki and Hiroshima, who do you think would be the ''bad guys'' there?
