1-The monks in the temple have women clothes in case they came naked.
2-Nicolas Cage is always buying drinks no matter what.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

@1 actually quite a few temples were populated by monks which would help the poor by doing things like feeding, letting them sleep in warth of give clothes, so its possible to have woman clothes in there.

3. crusaders would say such phrases like "who the hell is going to stop me" or "we gota go".

4. if there is a palgue on a town the while town wil lbe circles by crowds 24/7.

5. witches have superhuman strenght.

6. even in middle ages priests were perverts.

7. if a soldier deserts crusade after just wining a fight, a random forgotten town guard will know what he did and recognize him after jut few days.

8. Plagued monks die in their chairs.

9. demons can only melt cages when they are being cast out.

10. demosn can posses dead bodies.

11. dead monks know how to fight.

12. the book that can save the world can only be copied whne its too late.

13. demons are like cocoroaches.

14. if you repeat sanctus and dominus enough times you may exorcise a demon.

15. if plague hits the place even bookcases become rubbish.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

I know is not an Oscar movie but sometimes Nick's hate is too much...
6. The girl was possessed, she would tell anything to get away with it.
8. Monks tied to their chairs to be able to finish the copies, that was their intent so nothing would apart them from doing what they believed was the right thing to do.
9. The demon reached his destiny, he wanted to be brought to the last copy of the book, no need to him to stay caged.

Go rewatch the movie, I think your hatred for Cage blinded you so much that you even pay attention to the plot.

Space for rent.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

6. it does however seems that the demon wasn't lieing in this case.
8. because monks would not have had the will to sit down and write without being tied down right? this makes no sense.
9. yet he did not just leave the cage when he arrived, he waited in the cage a while and only melted it once he was being cast out, though he could have done it upon arrival, when they were in the building, and had a higher chance of surprise attack.

What interests me more is how did you assume i hate Cage? just because a regular troll on IMDB hates Cage doesnt mean everyone does.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

Nope, here's the funny thing - the demons already were in that church because as you saw, they had killed the priests there. For whatever reason, they just leave the book there until Cage and his company shows up.

Even so, let's ASSUME the book was hidden - so what? Do you think the demons, after going through the trouble of locating the book and killing all the priests say "ah crap, we know the book is in this abbey, but it's probably hidden. Should we look for it? We have supernatural powers so we could really just tear through this whole place and find it rather quickly... Naaah, here's a better idea. Let's have one of us pose as a witch. The we'll wait until someone suspects her. Then we'll wait some more until they sentence her. Then we'll wait even longer for someone to bring her to this abbey, even though the road is insanely long and hazardouz... yeah, that will probably take ages and is a really stupid idea, but... let's go with it!"

And the "facts in the film" support everything I just wrote. Of course I do know that these little posts of yours are done solely with the purpose of annoying people and provoke some kind of reaction, but I'll bite anyway...

As seen in the movie - all the priests in that abbey are dead, the demons were there, they could have just taken the book themselves, instead they decide to disguise one of their own as a witch, wait for ages until someone brings her to the abbey, wait for someone else to find the book and then try and take the book from said person. Logical? No. Hillarious? Yes.

"5. witches have superhuman strenght."

Do you think that might have been the demon?

"10. demosn can posses dead bodies."

Yes, succubi. Or it was believed that demons fabricated their forms, as they were not regarded as corporeal beings.

"12. the book that can save the world can only be copied whne its too late."

Well, people continue to debate global warming, don't they.

And a new one:

16. some people are really, really, really into the Crusades.

Demons which are normally energetic and could easily walk, ride a horse or possibly fly to the castle, once they possess a womans body become lazy and have to concoct an elaborate plan to be driven to her destination by a couple of guys

Yeah, that does sound pretty dumb.

However, I think that the journey was intended to be symbolic. Cage and Perlman are jaded. Isn't the whole point of the journey to work through their cynicism and doubts? They need faith to fight the demon and free the girl.

The book was in secret hiding, it might be a demon, that doesnt make it all knowing.
Gotta love people bashing things in and not even paying attention on the details. Only good one so far was the wolves remark by Raziel, now that one didnt make sense, ... even if they were demonic hounds, they killed the first batch fairly easy.

Actually, I was referring to various Neo-Cons who continue to attack the concept. So there seems to be plenty of people willing to listen to doubts about global warming and it's causes.

Just LOL.

7. if a soldier deserts crusade after just wining a fight, a random forgotten town guard will know what he did and recognize him after jut few days.
I think that was because they had a mark on their sword to show they were fighting the crusades, so if someone found the mark on a sword and the carrier was not fighting a crusade they therefore had deserted.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

But the crusade does not last forever. or do they change swords when they go off-duty?

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

Maybe it's because they knew there was a crusade on at the time? I dunno.
Maybe it is just a genuine plothole and I'm looking into it too much :)

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

so lets say they know there is a crusade (enemy invading their country) few days away from them (didnt look like they were travelling much more than that). so if a crusader wants to visit a nearby city after successful attack, he should leave the sword at the city he conquered? it looks like plothole.

8. Even a girl that is accused of being a witch can be gorgeous. Witches are not all old hags with warts on their faces that stand next to a cauldron all day long cackling insanely to themselves.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

Seriously guys.. what number are we on??

. Apparently the Crusades took places in the 1400's.

. You did not fight in the Crusades forever and did not have to fight during each Crusade, of course. You pledged for a certain amount of time.. which was made clear in this movie. But, the second you walk into a town and someone sees your crest.. THEY KNOW YOU'RE A DESERTER.

. This is probably the worst movie I've ever seen.

. There were Brooklyn accents in the 1400's century, don't ya know?

. So at the end the Church was correct.. but still throughout the movie, the Church is painted as the 'bad guys'.

. The 'boils' that appeared on the infected you know didn't occur in the neck, armpits, etc. ..but all over their faces!!

I love you Severus Snape.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

not sure what number lol....

-That a demon can sound like he comes from the "hood"

-Ron perlman still has a career after being a 100 years old

-Nicholas Cage's career is practically non existant at this point

-That "good" cgi is only reserved for those transformers movies LMAO

-everyone who signed onto this movie was massively drunk at the same time...

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

@the how did they know he was a deserter based on the sword crowd -

When you join the crusade you are given equipment with the mark of that crusade. When your term is up, you will be provided with a letter indicating that you completed your service and have been honorably discharged.

They were carrying equipment that had the mark, and did not make a show of it, as any proud crusader should. They also lied about where they were coming from and when they were accused of being deserters they didn't deny it.

- wolves are terrifying and are capable of solo killing a Bull Moose, but are only really threatening when they get a CGI make over.

- The path that the priest originally laid out that was not good enough for the party usually turns out the exact same as the path the guide chooses to take.

- When someone is found in their house dead from disease/plague, the safest bet is to burn the house down without question. Unfortunately, if it is in the city you don't get to burn the city down.

- medicine can only be practiced with a creepy mask on.

1)actors will do anything for money

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

I don't know what number we are on but here we go...

- You always need more holy water. (And you always need a bigger boat.)
- Being hung and then drowned is dead enough for some people...not but all.
- Guides are never "swindlers" so don't call them such names.

Re: creepy masks

actually that is what plague doctors masks looked like. the large beak was filled with herbs to keep out "putrid air" that they thought would spread the disease

What if they were given sick leave or any other form of leave? What if they were tasked to deliver a message to someone in Europe by their superior officer? What if the they had lost their "leave documents"? Still, the guards didn't even ask them for any form of documents, they just went to arrest them straight away. And of course they couldn't possibly know whether one individual templar had completed his term or if he had deserted.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

Crusade-like military activity DID take place in the 1400's - only this time instead of Europeans sending armies to the ME the ME sent it's armies into Europe - Constantinople fell (the Eastern Roman Empire collapsed) and the Balkans were over-ran. Vlad Tepes a member of an order pledged to resist the Ottomans waged crusade like wars in Wallachia.

Other leaders of the time like Stephen of Moldavia was in close communion with the Pope who supported his wars with the Ottomans, Stephen was declared a defender of Christianity for his victories.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

I dunno what number we are on, so I'm just going to pick one:

32. Swords make great accessories for burial mounds, unless you don't have one. In that case, a cross from a couple sticks will do.

33. Her name is Anna.

34. If you howl like a wolf as loud as you can, you still aren't sure if people can hear you on the other side of a piece of cloth.

35. It's easier to travel through rugged terrain with a cage on a horse-drawn buggy than to go get the book itself.

36. Priests will make funny faces if you piss in their holy water.

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

37 when no-ones looking the demon can destroy the books by pointing a finger and setting light to it but if theres loads of people about it needs to pick it up to burn it

Re: 100 things we've learned from Season of the witch

38. If you need some more holy water, the only way to get it is to find some even if one member of your company is a priest.

(By the way, regarding this one:

Apparently the Crusades took places in the 1400's.
The captions indicate that the crusades in which Behmen and Felson participated took place in the early 1300s.)
