War Films : Identify this movie?

Identify this movie?

I vaguely recall a movie about a rivalry between a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot and a British Spitfire pilot- anyone got any idea what it might be?

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Re: Identify this movie?

Nope, probably made in the 1950s/60s. There was a Spitfire flying in it as I recall.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Re: Identify this movie?

Was Hanover Street the one with B25s ?

Get Christopher George from 'the Rat Patrol" trades his jeep in on B17 in 'Thousand Plane Raid"...jesus it stunk..so did he, lol..

Re: Identify this movie?

"The Way to the Stars (1945)" features some USAAF/RAF rivalry.

There is a military aircraft movie site at http://www.coastcomp.com/av/fltline2/avmovie.htm. I searched through it but could not find any films featuring B-17s and Spitfires with that plot.

Re: Identify this movie?

I was at first thinking this might have been that clunker where WW2 aces and planes from both sides have that modern day flying adventure...sort of combining two awful novels from Martin Caidin and Duane Unkeffer...and later episodes of "Ba Ba Blacksheep" when it went completely off the rails...

Re: Identify this movie?

As far as I recall it was in colour too.

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Re: Identify this movie?

What about a film about a decade ago with Czech Spitfire pilots in it? Blue World, Blue Yonder or something?
