Disturbia : Am I the only girl….

Am I the only girl….

... who would not be turned on by or interested in a teenage boy who spies on me swimming, changing, fighting with my parents, and reading? I always thought that she was crazy for falling for a guy who, let's be honest here, was creeping it up while under house arrest.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Yeah brains were not her strong point.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Well, that's why its a movie. Girls that stupid do not exist in real life.

Re: Am I the only girl….

I know that movies often have to stretch things a bit, but she's hardly bothered by the fact that he was spying on her. She's a little miffed, then never brings it up again. I could help but dislike her after that.

Re: Am I the only girl….

I disliked her as well. I basically dislike any character that is unrealistic. Even as a dude, I would be troubled by someone watching me through my window. Lord only knows what that person's intentions are.

Re: Am I the only girl….

That's what I'm saying! Lol and as a girl, I know that I would be seriously freaked out and kinda disturbed if I found out that my neighbor was spying on me. *shudders*

Re: Am I the only girl….

If I were the girl, I'd have told my dad. If I were the dad, I would marched over to the house and asked him how much his life is worth.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Omygosh, if I had been that girl's dad and if I'd found out.... *cracks knuckles*

Re: Am I the only girl….

Well, if I had been the girl and someone was watching me like that, AND if I had been the Dad who was really the one watching, I would have felt VERY incestuous...

I have over 5000 films, many of them very rare and OOP. I LOVE to trade. PLEASE ASK!

Re: Am I the only girl….

I'm sure girls like that DO exist in real life, StarWars, just not for long, because their stupidity gets them killed. Probably the same kind of girl that would jump in some stranger's van because they smiled nice at her or something.

Re: Am I the only girl….

I would have been completely creeped out. I'd have turned him into the cops, and away to juvie he would have gone. Perv.

Re: Am I the only girl….

what would the police do. there is no law against using binoculares to spy on your neighbors if your in your own home

Re: Am I the only girl….

"there is no law against using binoculares to spy on your neighbors ...." Yes, there is; some jurisdictions have Peeping Tom laws that would make this illegal. There also might be a civil case for invasion of privacy. Proving it would be hard, unless she's also spying back.

Re: Am I the only girl….

You are WRONG! If you are in your own home and looking through binoculars at ANYTHING, and happened to spy your neighbor's bedroom, or such, how is that a CRIME if the curtains of your neighbor's bedroom were open, for example? It would make no sense to blame YOU for your neighbor's actions, or in this case, INACTION: That of failure to close a curtain. Tell us at what point a crime occurs. Besides that, how can there be an "invasion of privacy," because by leaving a curtain open there CAN be no invasion of privacy, a window with a curtain drawn open is HARDLY a definition of "privacy"! It would be the same as if there were no WALLS in your neighbor's home! Your neighbor might have WANTED privacy, but your neighbor can not EXPECT privacy if the curtains are open for all the world to see.

Re: Am I the only girl….

You are correct, and I believe the same would apply if you were spying on a neighbor through his/her window if you were on a public sidewalk or street. It is the NEIGHBOR'S fault if the neighbor is seen, and not the fault of the one doing the looking.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Yes they do.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Yes, they do. Getting knocked up everyday to boot...

Re: Am I the only girl….

Girls that stupid do not exist in real life.

Sure they do.

Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?

Re: Am I the only girl….

This movie is not a documentary about the typical reaction of a normal girl. Let's say that more than 90% of girls would think of the guy as a creep, then what ? Nobody say the girl was a typical teenager having a typical normal reaction.

It's like the majority of girls who don't like bald guys, it doesn't mean that's it's irrealistic for one girl to like one bald guy, low probability # irrealistic.

Re: Am I the only girl….

I guess with the way Kale talked about what he had gathered about her by observing her he came off just genuinely interested in her and not as a pervert.
I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.

Re: Am I the only girl….

I didn't find it to be that unrealistic. It seemed like she sorta liked him upon seeing him to begin with. And she did say that she didn't know weather to be creeped out, or thought it was really sweet (or something to that effect). If it was some old dude who was a pervert I think it would had been a little more unreal.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Plus, some girls find young guys peeping on them a turn-on, don't they.
I don't mean to impose, but I am the Ocean.

Re: Am I the only girl….

He could had probably made the argument if it were ever brought up that he was on house arrest and didn't have anything else better to do with his time. Either way it is not normal behavior, but neither is being stuck in the house not being able to go outside.

Re: Am I the only girl….

She could had little exhibitionism in her?

Re: Am I the only girl….

You'd have to because there's simply no way to be stupid enough to stand around naked in front of a window three times as big as you are and think nobody can see you changing.

Re: Am I the only girl….

first off all, he is on house arrest and therfor had nothing better to do. his character is obviously not the type to just peep on the neighbors he clearly did stuff such as play games hang out with friends fish with his father etc etc.
it wasnt until had none of that to do that he begin peepin on the neighborhood.
she knew that his peeping wasnt the actions of a peeping tom but were the actions of someone board and just trying to connect with the outside world through binoculars.

Re: Am I the only girl….

"first off all, he is on house arrest and therfor had nothing better to do."

Surely you don't really mean that. Just from the top of my head, things to do when stuck alone in a house: read, do research, learn to play a musical instrument, learn a foreign language, play darts, learn magic tricks, learn to juggle, watch movies, make movies (challenging but not impossible; "South Park" could have been made by one person), write (Hitler wrote Mein Kampf in prison), study any of a million subjects (art, literature, history, science, mathematics), practice T'ai chi ch'uan, gymnastics, lift weights, practice meditation, practice calligraphy.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Yeah really, how many people complained about this basically redoing Rear Window because TODAY, NOBODY spends the day looking out their window at their neighbors? He could've done any one of a dozen things instead of playing Peeping Tom.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Am I the only guy ...
... who would totally look when a hot girl changes clothes in plain sight ??

Or you would all turn your head away, uhu, yeah right :-)

Re: Am I the only girl….

You are NOT the only guy, and any guy who claims he would turn away is LYING, because "curiosity and hormones" kick in, and that's the way guys are, because that's the way they were made.

Re: Am I the only girl….

If it was shia i would not care. xD

:)

Re: Am I the only girl….

You guys are overthinking this.

Re: Am I the only girl….

Well, she had her drapes open, and she was laying in plain sight outside. Hardly illegal if that's the case. Gotta remember three words: Suspension. Of. Disbelief.

Re: Am I the only girl….

She wasn't turned on by the fact they were peeping on her. If that had been the case she would have carried on without saying anything so they could continue watching her.

She went round there to make it clear she knew and to enjoy the power that gave her over them. Obviously she wouldn't have done that if she hadn't already met Shia's character and realised he was unthreatening and even intimidated by her. So it was just a bit of fun for her to tease him for a while. Then she got intrigued by his suspicions about the other neighbor.

Re: Am I the only girl….

True, not many females would be that eager to fall for a guy into voyeurism. But most movies have a love interest of some kind, and the neighbor girl seemed like the most obvious choice. In "American Beauty", Thora Birch falls for a guy with less than 'purely artistic' motives for using that video camera of his. She even exposes herself to him from her bedroom, at one point. Is that scene merely a male fantasy? Maybe, but I many people (of both genders) have a bit of an exhbitionist streak, deep down inside. We all want to be noticed, and validated in one way or another.

Re: Am I the only girl….

did you not hear the speech he gave before getting lucky? he earned his first base
