Monsters : Korean kaiju

Korean kaiju

I know of Yongary (1967) and the reboot, 'Reptile' (1999), and I seem to recall a King Kong ripoff called 'Konga.' What other giant monster movies have been made in Korea?

Gwoemul (2006)

Re: Korean kaiju

I see IMDB lists that one under the title 'The Host.' Was it released in the U.S.?

Re: Korean kaiju

Yes. I've seen it several times. Can also be found on Netflix.

Re: Korean kaiju

I'm not aware of Konga having any ties to Korea, it's set in Britain. But it was released on DVD with Yongary.

There's a semi-lost movie called Wangmagwi.

Re: Korean kaiju

Found another one: 'Bulgasari'

Re: Korean kaiju

Pulgasari.....about a giant snail looking monster, right?

Re: Korean kaiju

Dunno; haven't actually SEEN this one. Going by the IMDB 'poster' image.

- Crazy. All crazy but I'm.

Re: Korean kaiju

I'll have to check it out sometime later, can't seem to find a way to stream this one at present. As for the description I mentioned above, I was mistaken as that was actually for a Japanese Kaiju flick called Demikingu (2009).

Re: Korean kaiju

I forgot about that one. I saw a copy of it on YouTube not too long ago. I remember thinking it wasn't that good. I'd rate it in the bottom of the barrel.
