I signed up for this one as it included some of the GoT posters I most wanted to post with again.

I've seen people post obscure message board links in different threads. These website will have a hard time growing. Why? Because beyond maybe getting a small group of users from here to migrate over, it will be hard to find these message boards within search engines for new users moving forward.

I would suggest everyone flock to one of the older websites that are already established and have a following. I am waiting approval for a new account at Westeros.org. I had heard several regulars say they will be going there after this is gone. I have never used it before so I can't comment on how good it is.

The only ones I can suggest against are any Reddit ones. Reddit tends be strange about things and will close down pages without warning or revealing the reasons why. It would be awful for all former IMDB users to go there, have it closed down the page for whatever reason, and no one has a way to communicate where to go next.

The silver lining in this whole ordeal is that at least IMDB is giving a warning - albeit a short one.

Your first two paragraphs are very true. I've seen many a forum splintered from others (mostly this one) fade into obscurity after a few months, weeks, even days. That's why I'm making new homes on westeros.org and other established busy forums for other topics.

Thanks for the warning about Reddit. I had planned on that being one of my new homes.

I hang out on FreeFolk. Of the existing ones it's probably the most similar to this in that there isn't a ton of moderation. But it's not perfect. And many don't take any criticism of Jon or Dany well.

I'll see you over at FreeFolk soon, Cheruthit sounds good to me. I like spoilers and not overly moderated and people wise enough to like Jon over there(lol). Not sure about GOTboard yet. Might still check out Westeros.

But FreeFolk for surei'll have a similar name over there though probably improved since should be easier to get one you want there. I'll say hey when I get there.

ya that was quick and impressive. i've set up a number of forums myself but not for over 15 years, back when phpbb was new. very time consuming.

Wiseau must be drinking tons of coffee. Either that or he's been snorting blue meth. He's telling me he has several more tweaks he's going to do tonight, as well.

He's done a tremendous amount of work in such a short time.

I managed to change the font so he was able to take that off his list. We're also working on a plugin for more emoticons.

I made an account on the GOT Board, but it is funky looking on my desktop work computer. It works fine on my ipad and phone. Any idea why it doesn't work on my desktop?

You may be right, but it still sucks. The reality is that many people access these forums while they are working. I am pretty good at multi-tasking.

It's because your work filters certain sites. It's the same for me. IMDb gets through most filters. GOT board, unfortunately, does not. Wiseau is aware, but it's not likely there's anything that can be done about that.

That's right. Most forum sites I cannot even access at work. I just get a "Denied Access" message from the IT Dept. if I try to access them.

Most sites seem to get through except the usual suspects like FB, Twitter, YouTube, and Pinterest, however I'm able to fully view IMDb, news sites, blogs, etc.

That's a good idea about the info links and I'll pass that along, but no one should be worrying about any heckling.

This is ridiculous. If they can't be arsed to type or even copy and paste a title in IMDb's home page, they can go back to their mother.

The real, justified complaint is that not every IMDb entry will see itself reflected by its own forum anywhere unless someone creates it. Now if threads related to an entry could be tagged with an IMDb ID and searched accordingly as to provide some virtual forum, we'd be closer to a match.

Yeh I saw that. I think the problem seems to be he hasn't appointed any mods yet so basically there's no-one to watch over stuff when he's offline.

Having checked both GOTboard and imdb2 my issue with both right now is the massive lack of posting rules. Right now with imdb2 the whole issue seems up in the air as to what rules there will be if any, and with GoTboard they seemed to settled on just 3 rules and that's it - which if it stays that way will make it an even worse cesspit than imdb.

They offer variety. Of course, I enjoy GOT but I need a place to talk about TWD, Supernatural, Humans- and the occupiers in the WH when nothing good is on tv!

The IMC Forum has TWD and is adding new boards as the demand emerges.
