Project Runway : They better pray for a miracle

They better pray for a miracle

otherwise, this finale is going to stink up the place.

this preview runway was pretty lousy. Some of those 'designs' were junior high school art projects.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

Agreed. I was unimpressed.

I thought it would be Lauransse (I know it's spelled wrong) all the way bit even her collection is a bit boring

Re: They better pray for a miracle

I also agree. I like a couple outfits from each designer, but so far there isn't one true standout. The judges were all spot on when they said there isn't any cohesion.

That being said- I do like Laurence and Riks collections the best, but we all know Erin is the shoe in to win this season. She could send down garbage bags on her models and the judges would rave at her ability to make clothes out of literally anything and her fun, fresh style.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

I disagree with all of you. I loved the three-garment show. Isn't it way better than last season's already? I just hope the designers don't ruin their collections by listening too much to the judges.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

i hope they dont listen and stick to their guns.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

Agree no wow factor at all. That one dress by Roberi and the white top by Laurence were the only memorable pieces. Erin's was so lazy.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

Agreed. I wasn't a fan of any of the collections, to be honest. They were all relatively underwhelming.

Laurence's garments were well-made, but they seemed a little bit all over the place. It was like sexy and old lady mixed togetherand that green overall thing was just ugly, IMO. I still think her look is the most polished, and I respect her going out of her comfort zone to the extent that she did. That being said, it's a little strange that she essentially abandoned the aesthetic that got her to the final four in the first place

Rik's collection was interesting, but it felt a little junior, especially with the accessories. I liked the leather dress he showedI'm not a fan of the denim story he has going on. I kind of wish he'd done something closer to the garment he made for his mother. That was lovely, and it was a modern take on an old aesthetic.

Roberi's collection isn't something I would wear, but I could see that there could be many who would. I like that he is so true to his own vision and unwilling to compromise by 'sexing it up', as Heidi implored him to do.

ErinI don't know what it is, but there is something about her that rubs me the wrong way. I have liked a few of her looks. And I actually thought the pink dress, while a terrible color, was actually cute with the little laser-cut plexi embellishments. I think it's more her personality that I just don't like. Every time she gets praise she gets this smile on her face and ducks her head down, and it just seems very disingenuous to me. It's like she's trying to appear humble but it actually makes her look smug. As far as her collection, I'm not a fan. I thought it was so strange that Tim goes to visit one of the other designers (Rik, I think) and tells him that his collection is too all over the place (which it was) and then he goes to visit Erin and tells her that he loves that she is all over the place. Ummmmmhuh? I don't like her color choices in general (not just in the final collection, but throughout the competition. I hate her obsession with yellow.), and the prints skew very junior to me. I do think her process is interesting. The way she plans out her designs and building textures is pretty impressive when you see her work station set up with all those embellishments. However, I do think that she relies quite a bit on the embellishments to sell the look, and when she doesn't (i.e., the summery dress she showed) the result is a relatively boring look with a boring silhouette.

At this point I don't know who I am rooting for. This whole season has been kind of blah.

I know - that was very weird. He said something like "Your concept is cacophony and I applaud it!" Since Erin didn't even appear to know the word "cacophony", it was nice of Tim to give her a label she can conveniently hang on her weirdo collection to justify it. Now the judges can complain that the other three collections are not cohesive, but they'll praise Erin because "uncohesiveness" is her theme.

I don't like her color choices either. And I actually like yellow a lot, but what annoys me is that she always picks the exact same shade of yellow, even for the clothes she wears herself. It's almost like she has some bizarre version of color-blindness.

Re: They better pray for a miracle

I thought all 4 had great potential and unique aesthetics but that mini collectionI don't know if any of it was good. It was okay to terrible. My hopes are lowered.
