Documentary : What Documentaries did you see in February 2017?

The Story of Film: An Odyssey (2011)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2044056/combined
Possibly the best documentary on film history that I have seen. Fifteen episodes covering the history from the very beginning and on films all around the world, not just English language films, but including others such as Bollywood and Hong Kong cinema. Anyone with Netflix can watch this documentary series on Instant Watch.

Re: What Documentaries did you see in July 2015?

I watched "The Columbine Cause" recently, an amateur documentary from '07 on youtube and vimeo. I've seen it before but some of the evidence the documentary covers is pretty mind-blowing, whatever happened that day at Columbine High School is almost certainly not what the media would have us believe. Well worth checking out if you have an open mind.

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (2015) - Interesting background on Scientology. The documentary presented a one sided allegation from former members about the abusive and manipulate nature of the "cult".

He Named Me Malala (2015) - It should have been an inspiring documentary about a young Pakistan teenage girl fighting for rights of girls for education. The disjointed presentation made it out to feel like one long campaign commercial. At the end, I was at the point of expecting someone announcing "This message is endorsed by..."

History of the Eagles (2013) - Two part documentary on the band Eagles. Part one which was about them in the 70s into the 80s was great, but part two which about them in the 90s onward was not as interesting.

Re: What Documentaries did you see in May 2016?

The Great Math Mystery (2015) - a very general look at how math is all around us.

Sleepwalkers Who Kill (2001) - Cases in which people killed others during sleepwalking. IMDb does not have a page for this documentary.

Dawn of Humanity (2015) - Discovery of a cave full of bones that could fill in some of gaps in the evolutionary linkage from ape to human. At the same time, explore the point in which ape evolved into human.

The Brain with Dr. David Eagleman (2015) - David Eagleman is a neurological scientist. This is a 6 part series about the working of the brain and of relating to our livelihood. He posed many existentialistic comment regarding our sense of reality and consciousness through the brain. I especially love episode 5 "Why Do I Need You", which looks into social interaction, isolation, racism, and genocide. Fascinating documentary series that I highly recommended.

History Channel's Shootout - Guadalcanal

A great, authentic and detailed doc on the events in the Pacific. Told from historians and those that were there, with actual footage and exciting reenactments.
