Before the Devil Knows You're Dead : I felt sorry for the drug dealer
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
Hahaha loool wachu say!
I think he had it coming as well, he didn't care $hit but himself.
Many times Andy tried to talk to him, about his dying mother etc. but the guy literally told him to go fvck himself. Yeah of course it's not the role of a dealer to listen to ur BS and it's not a reason enough to get killed like that, i'm just saying he was not the nicest guy ever, let alone crack dealer.
But i see ur point.

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
I felt similarly sorry for the client and the dealer.
The client: well, he was unconscious and not even given a chance to fight back or escape.
Justin, the dealer: I felt sorry for him, because he didn't stand a chance, once Andy had taken the gun from him. Not against two men, both bigger and obviously stronger than him. Even if there wouldn't had been a gun involved, Andy and Hank could have easily overwhelm and/or kill him.
I didn't see it in the movie, the scene was to quick, but according to this picture, he made an attempt at fighting back:
http://watercolour.up.d.seesaa.net/watercolour/image/Blaine20Horton.jp g?d=a0
With a small kitchen-knife against two men, one of them armed. But, maybe, with a surprise attack, he could have had succeed
The smart thing would have been to bolt after the beating - he was lying directly at the appartment door. Until Hank and Andy noticed, he would have been at the elevators and on his way down.
I really liked that the filmmakers didn't make him hyterical facing a gun, scream, beg or something like that. That he was silent and 'cold' like in his others scenes.
Another but - maybe Justin isn't dead at all. We see him getting shot and fall down. Neither Andy nor Hank bother to check if he really is dead

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
he looked and dressed like a woman!
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
No sympathy here.
He knows he's slow-killing people for a living. I found it interesting that andy took *beep* from him the entire movie and then made such a surprising and vicious fight back.
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
By that logic, you also feel no sympathy when a liquor store clerk/owner, any one that sells tobacco, et cetera gets killed. Heroin doesn't kill everyone that uses it. In fact most people don't even become dependent.
"it is estimated that about 23 percent of individuals who use heroin become dependent on it."[http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/heroin]
Are you just confused, or are you a sociopath?

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
Am I confused or am I a sociopath. I more than respect your right to disagree with me, but resorting to slinging insults at a complete stranger over the internet is a very immature way to go about it.
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
So you are just confused, but willing to present an irrational extremist Point of view as fact, or at least as your own personal belief, and expect not catch any criticism towards your obviously flawed and ridiculous point of view?

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
*shrugs*
I think the drug dealer in this film was a thoroughly nasty piece of work, and I think heroin is a deeply dangerous drug. If you don't like me thinking that, too bad, I don't care.
Sort out your anger issues dude, before they burn you up.
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
Anger issues? Now a rational and logical argument based in reality and fact is a sign of an anger issue? Why isn't taking pleasure(or at least being indifferent) when people are murdered a sign of an anger issue?
I refer you again to the same video I suspect you didn't watch(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OX77Qv66qw).
I now know you are VERY confused.

That's not exactly true. When we first see and hear Justin (asking Andy if he is hungry, telling him to help himself to a drink, and then remembering Andy only drinks Tonic Water)he sounds normal, perhaps even friendly.
He only starts acting cold and reserved when Andy begins to talk of his problems and to misuse Justin as kind of "suggestion box". I don't think he has anything personal against Andy in particular, it's more like a business principle; don't get too close to the clients, don't get involved with their problems, keep your distance.
Small talk is easy and okay, but nothing more. At least, that is the impression I got.
Besides, Andy isn't exactly innocent concerning his situation and "taking *beep* from his dealer" - it was Andy's decision to develop a drug habit and to take heroin on a regular basis, for what he needed someone like Justin. It was Andy's decision, and only his.
I think the drug dealer in this film was a thoroughly nasty piece of work,
Agreed - but so was Andy. He wasn't the nicest person on earth either. And Hank? Hank is just a pathetic excuse for a man.
Honestly, if I had to choose between Justin, Andy or Hank - I would take Justin for sure. At least he's pretty and rich.

Oh,I see. It's quite a while since I watched the movie.

Quite. I was unsympathetic to either of them.

So dumb / irrelevant.

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
That drug dealer was an F'ING ASSwhat are you talking about? He didn't have one ounce of compassion.
He was a little ugly pischer, and I'm glad he got it in the end.

^^This. Except for the first time we see him talk to Andy, he's a complete ASS to the guy, doesn't care what Andy is telling him or how it's affecting him, nor is he supposed to. Still the dealer was a real prick, i wasn't sad when he was killed. The costumer yeah, the dealer, hell no.

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
I thought the drug dealer was one of the most interesting characters, and yet we barely see him. I would've gladly sat an extra 5 minutes in the theater to find out more about him.
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
So this nasty piece of sh-t has earned our sympathy because he "had his sh-t together as a successful businessman" and "had a beautiful apartment". I see. The ultimate capitalist criteria to judge people by, I reckon.

Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
I felt sorry for the client, but not for the dealer.
Very good. But brick not hit back!
Re: I felt sorry for the drug dealer
What an interesting discussion. I did not feel bad when the dealer got shot, though I felt it wasn't needed. I felt bad when the mother died and when Andy got killed by his own father. Thear were the most depressing scenes in the film.

He was a fag.
