Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Hello all! I've been reviving these fun decade topics in which you list your favorite animated films from each year of a given decade. Since the original 2000s topic disappeared, I've revived it and split it into two to keep things 10 years at a time. Now of course we are only halfway through this current decade, so just edit your post and add films as the new years roll in! Now here I go again!

2010- Colorful (My favorite movie of all time!)
2011- From Up on Poppy Hill
2012- It's Such a Beautiful Day (Best year of decade thus far, 2010 is close.)
2013- The Garden of Words
2014- When Marnie Was There
2015- Inside Out
2016- Moana (I'm sure I'll get a "You're Welcome" from this!)

Update: 2015 added thanks to an amazing Pixar film! Mamoru Hosoda and Keichi Hara may have something to say about my pick later, but I'm extremely happy with this pick for a while.

Update 2: 2016 added.

Update 3: Recently the subject of animated shorts has come up in a couple of my topics. I would just like to clarify full length features only here. My sources put a full length animated feature as being at least 40 minutes and at least 75% animated.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

2010: Toy Story 3 (tied at 10/10 with Tangled and How to Train Your Dragon)
2011: The Adventures of Tintin (9.4/10)
2012: Wreck-It Ralph (9.8/10)
2013: Frozen (9.7/10)
2014: How to Train Your Dragon 2 (9.9/10)
2015: Inside Out (9.7/10)
2016: Zootopia (9.6/10) (though I have high expectations of Finding Dory topping it) (it did: 9.9/10)

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

My top 3 for each year:

2010:
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Surviving Life (Theory and Practice)
The Illusionist
Edit: Also I should mention the short film Pan-dane to Tamago-hime.

2011:
The Tragedy of Man
Tatsumi
The Painting

2012:
Wreck-It Ralph
Ernest & Celestine
It's Such a Beautiful Day

2013:
Princess Kaguya
The Wind Rises
Frozen

2014:
Mushishi Tokubetsu-hen: Hihamukage
Big Hero 6
The Lego Movie

I've only seen 4 from 2014 and 7 from 2013, so I didn't have many to choose from, but I'm watching a lot of anime this month so hopefully by the end of the month I'll be caught up. I still need to watch Patema Inverted, Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled From Paradise, Giovanni's Island, Majokko Shimai no Yoyo to Nene, the Madoka Magica movies, and probably a few others that I'm forgetting. I also need to watch some stuff from other countries but I don't think I'll get around to them before the end of the month.

Edit: And of course I need to watch When Marnie Was There but it hasn't been released on DVD yet.

Alright.

2011- Rango: A delightful change from the cute and cuddly to the disturbing and ugly.
2012- Wreck-it Ralph: My favorite modern Disney movie.
2013- The Wind Rises: Simply beautiful. (sorry, Frozen. You came close.)
2014- The LEGO Movie: I've probably watched this, what, 20 times already? Hilarious, colorful, nostalgic, touching, and ingenious, and it only gets better each time I watch it.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Except I haven't seen 'Fight Club'.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Neither have I.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Looks like I just went Drax the Destroyer.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy too (which is pretty lame if you ask me), so I didn't quite understand what you meant.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Literal-minded.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Oh. Anyways, you do realise why did I say "Fight Club complex", right?

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Unfortunately, I don't. Which is why I said I haven't seen 'Fight Club'.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I just can't believe that FC's ending hasn't been spoiled to you already.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I might have to see it someday, but I'm too squeamish.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I'm kinda squeamish, too.

What's your age? I'm 15.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

22.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

That's kinda embarassing.

A thing that I forgot to say before: Well, that's kinda weird because you perfectly survived Apocalypse Now.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I tend to react a lot stronger with crime drama/thriller films than with war films.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Hmm, that's understandable.

BTW, you haven't seen Kingsman yet?

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Not yet. I'm hoping to see it next week.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Unfortunately, I have no chance of seeing it until the DVD comes out or until it airs on television, since it is rated A here in India (which means 18 and above). Sucks because judging by the trailers, it looked like a really entertaining film.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

Sometimes, life just sucks.

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

The A certificate also forced me to miss Boyhood. I'm still angry about that.

Anyways, I think this will my last reply to you for now. I'm feeling kinda sleepy , and it's already 1:09 am here in India. Until then, bye Block! See you next day!

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

'Boyhood' is rated 18-equivalent in India??? WHY???????

See you, Baymax! I'm satisfied with this conversation!

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

I'm back to answer your question after nearly 9 hours of good sleep.

Some F-bombs, nothing else. Kinda pathetic, isn't it?

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

To both you and Block Busted, why did you feel the need to hijack my topic? Both of you have been carrying on a conversation that has been extremely off topic. That wasn't very nice!

I really liked these threads! I hope this thread still be alive in the next 5 years to come....

Re: Favorite Animated Film of Each Year of the 2010s!

2010 - Toy Story 3
2011 - Rango (just barely beating Kung Fu Panda 2 because I thought that Rango was funnier. Kung Fu Panda was great at elaborating the story and having a ton of style, but Rango had wittier dialogue and was just more fun for me to watch. Rango parodied westerns, while Kung Fu Panda 2 played its martial arts movie premise straight, which worked for both respective films, but still made Rango stand out to me more. It also helps that I'm just more of an old-fashioned western movie person than an old-fashioned martial arts movie person.)
2012 - Paranorman
2013 - Madoka Magica: Rebellion, with Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart/The Boy with the Cuckoo Clock Heart trailing closely behind (thinking about it now, they're both surprisingly similar. Not because they have similar plots or anything, but because they're both foreign films that I adore for purely aethstetic and musical purposes. Holy cow both these films have phenominal soundtracks. Plus, both rely heavily on absurdist imagery).
2014 - The Lego Movie
2015 - Inside Out, although I'm still looking forward to the Peanuts Movie, The Boy and the Beast, and the Good Dinosaur. Like last year, this is a pretty solid year for animation, even though Inside Out is probably going to sweep up awards season (unlike last year when there were no Pixar movies and the awards were very unpredictable).

Why does life have to be so ironic?!
