Shallow Ground : Absolutely Terrifying….

Absolutely Terrifying….

Does any one else agree that this movie was terrifying? I am a huge horror movie fan and have seen loads of horror movies, but for some reason this movie affected me. I was shaking by the end of it, it invoked a huge feeling of dread for me throughout it.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Yep! Sure do. Posted in another topic, that I believe this will be a cult classic. It has the makes and the shakings (bit of flakeyness and unpolished).

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Personally, I did not find it scary at all. A little demented, yes but not scary. It's been a few years since I've seen a truly scary horror film.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

not so much scary but a wonderful production nonetheless. few movies scare me anymore. whoever put the review up is retarded though. this was a great film

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

It was tense for the first hour but no real scares IMO

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

anybody who finds this movie scary is a wuss IMO and should stay away from any horror movie.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Yea sorry, not really scary, and it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense does it? Maybe I'm missing something, but I watched it again last night, and I still don't really get what is going on.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

So this reply is late in the coming because I just happened to catch this movie today and then see your comment. Anyway, it's obvious you really don't "get" what a scary movie is. I'm sure you are one of those people who think that hardcore gore equals scary. But it doesn't, gore is only fun when you watch it, but completely ineffective later when I'm lying in bed. Creepy movies are waaay more disturbing to me than gorey supposedly scary ones. I've probably seen just about every horror movie you ever have, (probably more) and it's not the gorey ones that creep me out in the middle of the night, it's the ones w/ the dread feeling in them. So saying that someone is a wuss for thinking this is scary is just ignorant to say the least. For some people fear is created by the mood or projection of a movie, not just something jumping out and scaring you or sawing a couple limbs off. Just because you don't find mood horrors scary, doesn't mean you should insult other people who do.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

The movie was well done and very scary. The scene with all the rotting corp's really got me. Any young child with a channel clicker would be really damaged if they were to come across that scene.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

While what you say about gore=/= scary is true, this movie was, to be frank, only scary in the sense that someone actually put money up for it. What the hell was it even ABOUT anyway? I got what was going on, but it was just a huge, dull mess.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Mood horror is normally far more scary than loads of blood and gore, I totally agree. Mood horror also tends to be a lot better than blood and guts stuff. Take the first Halloween for example, very little blood and such, but a creepy, excellent film.

This however, is dreck, pure and simple. It's terrible. There is absolutely nothing good about this film, and the only thing I can say that is close to a compliment is that it isn't the worst movie I've ever seen. The acting is appalling, the directing sub par and the less said about the plot the better. It's just a mess.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

I loved the scened where the women were strung up I just did I know that's sick but I thought it was cool for a film to actually do it

"I'm sorry my Karma just ran over your Dogma"

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

You think you're sick my girl loved those scenes, too. I probably should've left tied her up after watching 'The Girl in the Basement', maybe she wouldn't have fallen asleep during 'Shallow Grave.' I just got her to watch it by threatening to give away the ending, and she loved it. Great movie, especially if you're sick.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

I just finished watching it and wasnt impressed with it at all.Maybe Im jaded from 35 years of looking at all kinds of horror, but this one was dull and badly put together.A little gore doesnt make a horror movie good.It has to be a combo of things like story, characters, original killings, etc this one had none of this.Glad I saw on TV and didnt pay for it LOL

WARNING:I hear voices and they dont like you!

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

The only scary thing is seeing that kid's ass every couple of minutes. I hate it when movie makers try to scare you through gore and blood; it's not scary, it's revolting. I don't mind blood and such when there is actually something else going on, such as killing, being chased, etc

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

scary? nope.
stupid as *beep* hell? yep.
I should know not to get below my 6.5 imdb rating scale.
wholly *beep* was this movie stupid.
most of it made no sense and the parts that did were stupid.

Did I mention that this movie was stupid.

I would rather watch the directors cut of Pootie Tang.

BTW: This movie was *beep* stupid.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

i totaly agree. very stupid movie.
the acting was bad. very bad. god i think i could have acted better in jack's role.

all the main characters do in this movie, is walking around without actualy doing anything. probably the movie would have been the same without the jack character as he does nothing significant to the plot at all. and as for the plot pretty mindless, but put together in a decent way. the maine idea of the dead taking revenge is stupid though.

the cinematography is the worst in this movie. half of it is made of characters walking through the forest with a stupid and repetitive music in the background to make it seam scary. i dont see the point of the scenes from the begining with the blood coming out of the boys ear and with the bugs on him, etc. these are the scares in this movie. scenes pointless to the plot based on gore.

the ending ruined anything good this movie might have had. any other comment is useless.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

I don't know if it was really terrifying. I thought it was more like a prolonged episode of the X-files, actually. Not really any gore, some suspense but a script with enough holes in so you don't get to relate to any character or event. A B movie, that's for sure, but not a bad one (check out Venom if you want bad)

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

It was good, and the kid was creepy but i wouldnt say it was scary btw im still a little confused

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

I thought it was amazing! You start to empathize with this bloody kid just a bit and it just pulls you in and you want to know his story. I actually read about it in Fangoria a year or so ago and it was on my list of "must sees" and I'm so glad I finally saw it. Can't wait to see what this director comes up with next.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Not scary at all. But boring? Oh, yes.
A lot of the scenes are just too long. God, this director should hire a better editor oh, wait.. He IS the editor too.

"The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense."

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

Only in the sense I was terrified people put money up for this, and someone decided the shots left in were the GOOD ones.

Re: Absolutely Terrifying….

the only 'terrifying' part was when the black coated thing jumps out and kills the red one. and it wasn't true horror, just the jumpy part. the rest sucked. i was sick of the blood in forwards and reverse

can't talk. eating brains
