Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

With the pending closure of the message boards (sucks), I'll miss all the great discussions we've had. Until it closes, I thought maybe this could be a thread citing our favorite and/or memorable lines from Bewitched. So, please feel free to add at any time. I'd love to see what quotes were memorable to the board. No particular order or season, just whatever comes to mind. It could also be fun trying to guess what episode it's from.

I'll get the ball rolling:

GLADYS: Abner! There's an old hag at the door claiming to be 24 years old!
ABNER: I thought your mother wasn't coming until next month.

MOTHER: We're going to get a hot fudge sundae, with nuts and whipped cream.
SON/BULLY: And flies??
MOTHER (confused): And flies???

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Samantha: I've got a good mind to go home to mother!

Darrin: What for! You're mother's always here!

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Darrin (speaking of Endora): What can she do?
Samantha: The possibilities are endless.

Darrin: Well, I don't want to break up my ensemble.

Endora (trying to pick up a coffee pot after losing her powers): It's heavy!

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

The Tates and Stephens are toasting, to the new account, to wonderful friends:
Darrin: To ME!

Darrin: You've been asking for this for a long time, Endora. Yaga zuzzi, yaga zuzzie, yaga zuzzi, ZIM!
Samantha (confused): Mother, have you been asking for THAT?

Darrin: A little frankness can be a refreshing thing. But a lot of frankness is a gasser!

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Darrin: You've been asking for this for a long time, Endora. Yaga zuzzi, yaga zuzzie, yaga zuzzi, ZIM!

Samantha (confused): Mother, have you been asking for THAT?

I love that one!

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Man: "Sheila really is amazing. She even owns her own jet. Do you fly?"

Samantha: "Oh yes."

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

BUXOM APPLICANT FOR MAID: I always seem to establish a better rapport with the men of the household. Isn't that funny?
SAMANTHA: Hysterical.

GLADYS: I think I'll take the Stephens some of my icebox cookies.
ABNER: Why? What did they ever do to you?

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

DARRIN (from "Allergic to Ancient Macedonian Birds"):

"Take her to a senior citizen's home. And when you're as senior a
citizen as she must be, they'll give her the best room in the house!"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

These are great - keep 'em coming.

HORRIBLE episode, but I did like this line:

Samantha: Mr Mishimoto (I think that was the name), we weren't expecting you so soon.
Japanese client (played by Richard Haydn(??): I was expected at 6:30, and it is now 6:29.
Samantha: Well that's just it. We weren't expecting you for another minute.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I know I'm in the minority, but I don't hate this episode. I don't love it,
but I'll take this one over the non-Darrin duds of season five (with the
exception of "Mrs. Stephens, Where Are You?").

From season Seven's "To Go, or Not to Go":

DARRIN: Boy, I'd love to give her a piece of my mind.

ENDORA: (popping in) Make it a small piece, you have very little to spare.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I think this line was repeated a couple of times:

Darrin: Good-bye, Sam. And Endora, if you're not here when I get back, I certainly hope so.

And let's not forget: "Flurpity Flurp!"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

AND what's kind of cool for Sargent fans, is I believe HE introduced that line
unless I'm mistaken, York never said it.

"Flurpity Flurp"the great Bernie Kopell extending his range once moreproving
not only that he was believable as a middle-aged hippie warlockbut also what
a nice body he had!

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

This line was used twice, in a B&W and it's color remake-Sam comes up with an ad campaign that Darren thinks she witched up:

ENDORA: To error is human, to forgive divine.
SAM: Exactly
ENDORA: ..but when you're up to HERE in errand you've turned into one HUGE lump of divinedon't come crying to me!

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Not to get sour, but here's an exchange that was NOT particularly funny and was
waaaaaaay overused:

DARRIN: Sam, can I see you in the kitchen?
SAM: When?
DARRIN: Now.

Ugh.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Is there anyway that Imdb would reconsider
who agrees with me

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Who knows? I know there are petitions circulating to prevent the closure. I've seen them on other boards I post on.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

AND what's kind of cool for Sargent fans, is I believe HE introduced that line
unless I'm mistaken, York never said it.

gbennett: I was thinking the same thing when I posted it. Yes, it was a Sargent line.

I also agree about that over-used "Can I see you? When? Now!" Another one that was repeated in the York years (and maybe Sargent, I can't remember):

DARRIN: And stop feeling sorry for me. If there's one thing I can't stand is people feeling sorry for me.
SAMANTHA: Especially when you're doing such a good job of it yourself.

Another line I like:
Season 1, Samantha and Endora bumping into the Tates in Paris:
Sam: Oh you're the last people I wanted, uh, expected to see.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Didn't Endora use a few times - when being compared to the Witch of the West - "I refuse to stay here and be compared to a RANK AMATEUR!!"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I do remember that line, but don't recall if it was used more than once.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Another goodie - in "Hansel & Gretel in Samanthaland" - Sam confronts the bad witch in the storybook, played by "Witchiepoo" Billie Hayes:

WITCH: "You don't belong here! This is a *restricted* story! I'm not a bigot, mind you - but I have a GREAT respect for the classics!"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I'm not sure if this is the exact line but it goes something like this and I always laugh

Sam: "That's an excellent suggestions Mr. Durfeypurfey wurfey."

LOL

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes - when she had that "rhyming virus." When Larry told her to stop it, she replied, "Me no can do. Poop poop dee do."

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I love when Sam occasionally put Larry in his place.

From "That Was No Chick, That Was My Wife:"

LARRY: Well, I'll be running along.

SAM: I was going to suggest that.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I LOVE Larry's reaction. "POOP POOP DEE DO???"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Again, Sam putting Larry in his place: From season Two's "Speak the
Truth:"

Sam: There's no need for Darrin to apologize. I'm afraid you'll have
to get along without one."

A perfect line.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

LOL! I know! Larry's reaction makes that even more hilarious!

Boop doop da dee?

LOL

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yeah, in "Trial and Error of AC," when Larry tells Samantha to forgive him for barging in, she replies: "Oh Larry, it's always a pleasure to have you barge in."

Another exchange from the Sargent years. I can't remember what episode but I've always liked this exchange:
Darrin gives his ideas for a slogan to a client in the Stephens' living room. Larry hates it and makes some derogatory remark. But the client smiles.
CLIENT: I like that. I hear bells ringing!
LARRY: Darrin, answer the door.
DARRIN: Huh?
LARRY: Well what do you know? I hear bells ringing too!!

Another time Darrin (I think York) was telling Samantha how his meeting with a client went.
DARRIN: I told Larry my idea and he hated it. But I pitched it to [name], and he LOVED it!
SAMANTHA: And now Larry loves it too!

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes, "answer the door" - hilarious. Larry was such a suck-up.

How about this exchange in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really
Trying":

DARRIN (to Madame Marushka): Get out.
LARRY: Darrin, have you flipped your WIG???

Not particularly inspired, perhaps, but York's matter-of-fact phrasing
combined with David What's exasperation is great fun.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes, "answer the door" - hilarious. Larry was such a suck-up
.
He was! But it's funny, because he seemed to be the only mortal that the witch world liked (Endora was always cordial to him, Serena ADORED him and loved to flirt with him.)

For as involved as he was with the Stephens, he got caught in witchcraft crossfire (e.g., sitting next to the statue in "Speak the Truth", getting punched by the boxing glove when Arthur put his practical jokes into the Stephens' house) but I don't think he was ever a direct target of a spell or "revenge" witchcraft.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes, in eight years, Larry saw more than even Mrs. Kravitz. And he seemed to
always put the blame on alcohol. Which leads me to drunken Larry and Darrin in
this exchange from "Toys in Babeland":

DARRIN: Larry, I'm trying to tell you something - he's a DOLL!
LARRY: Well, make up your mindeither you like him or you don't.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

LOL I LOVE that line by Larry!

If there is a Muslim ban, they can pretend they're Christians. You know, like Republicans do.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

I was wondering if any of you could help with a line I'm trying to remember. Uncle Arthur says it, I believe once to Darrin, and another similar line to Endora. It goes something like this,

"If ______________ were ______________, you'd be a ___________________."

So as an example, "If ignorance were money, you'd be a millionaire."

Does that ring a bell with anyone? My memory's real foggy on this one.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes, to Darrin, Uncle Arthur says, "If misery were snow, fellayou'd be a
blizzard!" It's from "A Bunny For Tabitha."

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Oh there was another- used twice -

"Endorawhen I think of you as a blood relativeI long for a transfusion"

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Yes, and one of the times, it was uttered by Cousin Henry (a very Uncle Arthur-esque character) on Samantha's Shopping Spree.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Ugha DOG of an episode.

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

Fun posts! For this one, it's mostly in Agnes Moorehead's delivery at the end:

Endora: "And if he kisses her, he'll be 500 years older but no wiser."

Re: Boards closing: FAVORITE AND MEMORABLE BW LINES

gbennett: YES! That's it! Thank you - it was driving me nuts. And thank you, mikwalen! That's the Endora comment as well.

I'm sure gonna miss this message board.
