Bewitched : RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

Actress Francine York, who played 'Venus de Milio' on the series "Bewitched" passed away yesterday at the age of 80. York (who was no relation to actor Dick York), succumbed to cancer, which she was diagnosed with a year ago. York was a popular actress in the 50s, 60s, and 70s guest starring on such shows as 'Batman', 'I Dream of Jeannie', 'Love, American Style', 'The Odd Couple' and 'Bewitched'. The actress was currently finishing her memoirs.

She was a very beautiful woman - right up until her last days, as she posted photos of herself on Christmas / New Years on her Facebook page. She looked very much like Barbara Eden. I wonder what the actor who played Adonis looks like today, as well.

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

While every death is sad, I thought Julie Gregg made a much better
impression as both "Miss Kaybaker" and "The Crone of Cawdor", yet
only one person replied to my post about Gregg (I don't personally care,
I was just surprised as Gregg was the better actor, and had appearances
in two eps, both of which, are far superior to the "Venus" offering from
season eight). Still, this is the third death inside six months for
an older BW guest star (we just lost Bernard Fox, of course).

RIP Francine York.

Then why bring it up if you don't personally care?

You didn't have to mention this at all - you could have just said you found Julie Gregg, who died recently, a better actress - without mentioning 'only one person replied to my post' If you didn't personally care, you would have never mentioned it.

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

Cute. But I actually don't care, as I'm not a fan of York OR Gregg.
I mentioned only that I was "surprised" (if you've forgotten the
meaning of the word, you can look it up).

Gregg was really effective in both her BW eps, and apparently had a
decent singing voice, and was Tony nominated on Broadway.

York had far more pop-culture exposure, as she appeared in tons of
TV shows and several movies.

Again, I don't "care", as I have no emotional attachment to either actress.
But "The Crone of Cawdor" is a truly classic episode of the series, and
the "Venus" offering is pretty awful.

Get it now? Maybe not. Since YOU'RE the one who responded in italics
it would appear YOU'RE the one who "cares."

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

Seems much more like a bruised ego because 'only one' person responded to your posting.

Actions speak louder than words - and if you really didn't care, you would have never ever mentioned it. Oh well

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

How is it a "bruised ego?" I've posted tons of threads that have gotten no
replies (as have you, if you take a gander at all the "0" replies you've gotten
on the Streisand board, lol).

I just thought Gregg's BW appearances were more noteworthy, although I agree
that York has a more "pop-culture" background.

Anyway, bye!

I did take a gander at the last 50 threads on the board. Out of my 30 posts, 3 had a zero. That's a lot? 1/10? Seriously?

And I didn't whine about it in someone else's thread as you did in this one.

Big difference.

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

No, YOU only whine when people won't discuss politics on inappropriate threads.

Kind of your MO, isn't it?

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

I just realized it's same actress that did and episode on Lost in Space.

The only reason I was really aware of her as I think she contributed a bit on the Facebook page for LIS and heard of her death there.

I would never have put the two together. The thing that struck me about her appearance on BW was the apron only outfit (not counting the body stocking) which was really different for this show. Basically suggested nudity.

Big difference from the head to toe covering in LIS.

RIP

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

Yes,that's what I always remembered her from. She was the leader of a group that was going to colonize the planet where the Robinsons were marooned.

I remember she had a black, fairly tight costume and some really odd headgear. I thought she was so beautiful.

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

GBif there had been a SUPERMAN tv show or movie in the 60s, Julie Gregg would have been a perfect Lois! I had no idea that she did Broadway shows too!

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

Yes, and there is a recording of something she sang in the '60's on Youtube. It
isn't bad. She was also in "The Godfather."

Yeah, she would've made a great Lois Lane!!

Re: RIP: Francine York has died at age 80

She was in the film version of MAN OF LAMANCHA too!
