Nemesis, why is it hated? Or at least disliked by most fans?

I found it superior to Generations and Insurrection, but I'll admit I liked all 4 of the TNG movies. Some say Tom Hardy had a lisp when he spoke in Nemesis, I still do not hear it and I have a nice sound system + Blu-Ray. Others say Baird had no clue what he was doing, he's my 3rd favorite ST director (Behind Nimoy and Frakes). Anyway I gave it a solid 8/10, very enjoyable.

I like the movie, but it's just too mediocre to be even remembered, let alone something worth re-watching. i mean the only thing i was impressed with was the starship crash, which was something we had already seen done better in Generations and ST3.

and since when does the lowest deck have a 300 foot chasm under it?

One of my biggest complaints about Nemesis is that Picard shat all over the prime directive and could have potentially started an intergalactic war by firing on the inhabitants of Kolarus III. This may seem like nitpicking, but for one of the most renowned Federation diplomats it seems terribly out of character.

This is par for the course for TNG movies. none of the actors seem to remember how they played their character despite being on the show for seven years.

To quote Nomad, "Your facts are uncoordinated".

The biggest reason is because it was the third film to focus and Picard and Data. "Genertions" and "First Contact" had already done it. Most fans were annoyed because it was just a rehash of two previously used plot elements.

The louder UFO "debunkers" argue the more terrified they are it's all true.

Re: Nemesis, why is it hated? Or at least disliked by most fans?

The big things cited are-

1. Data's death was poorly handled and an attempt to rip off Wrath of Khan

2. An abundance of plot holes

And all of those things were amplified to the extreme since it was the first ST movie to come out in the era of internet Haterade.

I'll concede that both of those things are true, but I still don't mind it and find it to be a distant second among the TNG movies behind First Contact. It's the only of the TNG movies that really feels cinematic and not like an episode of the TV show, and there are a lot of great character moments since it's the last go-around for the TNG crew.

Re: Nemesis, why is it hated? Or at least disliked by most fans?

Out of all the TNG films, I watch Nemesis the most, sure it shares a similar plot with Wrath of Khan & Picard acts completely out of character at Troi and Riker's wedding, but I found it the best of all the TNG movie.

First Contact is boring and overrated, this is what led to the Borg being completely ruined in Voyager, the plot is slow, and boring, once you get past the battle at earth it drags on, nothing about the Borg is scary in this film.

I found them much more intimidating and scary in the series, the new Borg without any explanation just seemed to have gained the ability to assimilate people just by grabbing them and injecting them with nanoprobes, no explanation how Picard gain this knowledge, or why he seems to be able to "hear" the Borg, despite being disconnected years earlier and having all the Borg implants removed.

Real lazy writing on account of all the writers of the film.

I'd put it just above the motion picture and Insuckrrection in terms of Entertainment.

Out of all the movies Nemesis and Insurrection are the only ones that I have trouble remembering the plots. I even shown them in a theater I was running at the time. To me they are both just forgettable.

Re: Nemesis, why is it hated? Or at least disliked by most fans?

I found the film to be very boring and little more than a bland TNG retread of Wrath of Khan.

A very disappointing end for TNG crew.

Re: Nemesis, why is it hated? Or at least disliked by most fans?

I didn't like the way it ret-conned the Romulans. Remans suddenly? Picard has an evil clone? B4? Too much lame.
