Trekkers Only! : OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Of the following movie series that have at least three or more movies, which installment to you find the be the worst/weakest one overall? It doesn't have to be a movie you dislike, just which is your least favorite. Remakes, crossovers and prequels count in any series that has them. Thought this would be an interesting little survey to share here among IMDB's Sci-Fi fans and also with new entries in prominent series coming along including a new Star Trek.

Star Wars

Indiana Jones

Lord Of The Rings

Alien

Predator

Terminator

RoboCop

Star Trek

James Bond

Jurassic Park

Batman

Superman

X-Men

Spider-Man

Iron Man

Hulk

Transformers

Rambo

Rocky

The Godfather

Die Hard

Lethal Weapon

Back To The Future

Planet Of The Apes

---

My picks for each:

Star Wars - The Phantom Menace

Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade. Still love it though, just enjoy the others more, though this one and Crystal Skull tend to swap for me.

Lord of The Rings - Haven't seen any so far, believe it or not.

Alien - Alien Vs. Predator

Predator - Alien Vs. Predator

Terminator - Rise Of The Machines

RoboCop - RoboCop 3

Star Trek - I've only seen First Contact and liked it.

James Bond - Don't remember which I've seen, so abstain for now.

Jurassic Park - Jurassic Park III

Batman - Batman & Robin

Superman - Haven't seen any.

X-Men - The Last Stand

Spider-Man - Spider-Man 3.

Iron Man - Need to see IM2 again to see how it stacks up to the original and The Avengers, only saw it once.

Hulk - Only saw The Avengers, which I loved. Yet to see the 2003 movie and the 2008 reboot.

Transformers - Again, the original. At least the sequels were dumb fun in a way, the original to me was just dumb and boring.

Rambo - Rambo III (still love it).

Rocky - Haven't seen any, so abstain for now.

The Godfather - Been so long since I last watched any I can't fairly say.

Die Hard - Seen the first three so far and love them all, though I probably like Die Hard 2 the least of the first three.

Lethal Weapon - Probably Lethal Weapon 3, though it's still pretty good.

Back To The Future - 3, but I still like it.

Planet Of The Apes - Only seen Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and loved it.

Feel free to add more if you'd like.

RoboCop 3 is the worst one bar none.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

should be interesting to see the responses with the new Star Trek movie now out.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I'm gonna skip the ones I haven't seen much, if any, of -- also the ones I don't remember well.

Star Wars/One of the prequels -- don't know or care which

Indiana Jones/Temple of Doom (even worse than Crystal Skull)

Lord Of The Rings/Hmmm -- I guess the middle one (but I haven't seen The Hobbit)

Star Trek/The Motion Picture -- hands down!

Superman/Haven't seen them all, but #3 was awful

Spider-Man/#3 with Tobey, although I liked it

Lethal Weapon/#2, I suppose -- asked Hubby to shoot me if I ever suggested watching another. Actually, the only worthwhile part of #1 was Gibson's Hamlet audition with the gun and the wedding photo.

Back To The Future/I guess #3, but I liked it

Planet Of The Apes/Beneath the Planet of the Apes (but James Francisco was yummy!)

Star Wars - Attack of the Clones

Alien - Alien Resurrection

Predator - Predator 2

Terminator - Terminator Salvation

Star Trek - The Final Frontier

Batman - Batman & Robin

Superman - Superman Returns

X-Men - The Last Stand

Spider-Man - The Amazing Spider-Man

Hulk - The Hulk

Die Hard - A Good Day to Die Hard

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

What about the other series?

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

What about the other series?

I omitted the rest because my choices wouldn't be accurate. Either I didn't watch them or it would be too difficult for me to choose one.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Oh, I understand.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars
Phantom Menace, although I didn't hate it, just thought of it as a kids movie.

Indiana Jones
The last crusade, and it isn't even close

Lord Of The Rings
Liked all of them, but the Hobbit was probably at the bottom of the four.

Alien
Blah

Predator
First one was decent, have really watched any of the others all the way thru.

Terminator
Rise of the machines

RoboCop
They did more than one?

Star Trek
ST the motion picture was about the cheesiest movie I have ever seen.

James Bond
The last one was great, most of the rest kind of run together.

Jurassic Park
Should have never done a sequel.

Batman
and Robin

Superman
Quest for peace

X-Men
Not really a xmen fan, but #2 put me to sleep.

Spider-Man
All about the same.

Iron Man
two was the worse, although it wasn't bad.

Hulk
Blah

Transformers
Blah

Rambo
III

Rocky
Blah

The Godfather
One and Two were masterpieces, three not so much.

Die Hard
The russian one

Lethal Weapon
After the first one, blah

Back To The Future
Blah

Planet Of The Apes
Haven't seen the last one yet, so its hard to compare.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars - Phantom Menace. Really, Lucas is an awful director, and needs to give up.

Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull, though most people took it way too seriously. It was Lucas/Spielberg satirizing their own work.

Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers...but only by a tiny margin. The series was remarkably even in quality.

Alien - Prometheus. At least AVP didn't try to be high minded sci-fi.

Predator - I am pretty sure I haven't seen them all. Never found them to be that great.

Terminator - Again, haven't seen them all. The first one is great, the second impressive, if banal, and every one after completely redundant.

RoboCop - Turned the second one off half way in, and never regretted it. Never watched any more...were there more?

Star Trek - Into Darknes/09 in a draw with Final Frontier. All three are so bad (and the Abrams ones for such different reasons) that I'd like to live in a universe where none ever existed. This would be a justifiable violation of the temporal prime directive.

James Bond - Living Daylights - Bond was not meant to be monogamous.

Jurassic Park - 3. The first was really good, the second a good spoof on the first (and Godzilla at the same time) and the third just a ploy to get money.

Batman - Haven't seen them all, but the one with Danny Devito as the Penguin sticks out for me.

Superman - 3. Richard Pryor? Really? I like the guy, but how does he fit in Superman?

X-Men - 2. I found the characters more superficial here than in the first.

Spider-Man. Haven't seen the most recent entry. Liked 3 better than 2, but 1 better than the others.

Iron Man. Again, haven't seen the latest, but the first was better than the second.

Hulk - I really liked the one with Norton. It wasn't a great movie, but the photography was great, particularly the foot chase through the favella.

Transformers. No. Just, NO.

Rambo. Saw the second, figured the third was going to be more of the same and skipped it. First Blood is a classic, the others will be forgotten in time.

Rocky. Five was awful. But then again, four was pretty bad, two and three not good. The original is the only one worth a second look.

The Godfather. If you have to ask.

Die Hard. Haven't seen them all, and don't care to. The first one is a great action movie, and every one since an improbable story to bilk people out of their money.

Lethal Weapon. Again, the first is the best. The second not bad. Then it goes downhill until I eventually stop watching.

Back To The Future. I watched the sequels once, and have never felt the need to repeat the experience. I know there are fans of this series, and fine...enjoy it. I don't. (except the first, and that largely because it came out when I was the right age)

Planet Of The Apes. Never been a big fan of this series.

Propaganda is to a democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars - Attack of the Clones

Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull

Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers

Alien - Alien: Resurrection

Predator - AvP if that counts

Terminator - T3 (although I haven't seen the 4th film yet)

RoboCop - I guess the third one

Star Trek - Insurrection, Nemesis, Abrams Trek

James Bond - The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, Die Another Day, Quantum of Solance

Jurassic Park - dunno, pretty much all the same

Batman - Batman & Robin

Superman - Superman IV

X-Men - haven't seen any of those

Spider-Man - only seen the first

Iron Man - haven't seen any

Hulk - ditto

Transformers - all were crap

Rambo - I guess the third one

Rocky - Rocky IV

The Godfather - The Godfather, Part III

Die Hard - Good Day to Die Hard

Lethal Weapon - IV

Back To The Future - III

Planet Of The Apes - Battle for the POTA

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I'll only do the ones where I've seen all of them-

Star Wars-Episode I
Indiana Jones-Temple of Doom
Lord of the Rings-The first one, but they're all good
Star Trek-The Motion Picture
James Bond-A View To a Kill
Jurassic Park- JP II
Batman-Batman and Robin
Superman-Can't decide whether 3 or 4 is worse
Iron Man-Iron Man III
Rocky-Rocky V
The Godfather-Part III
Back to the Future- Part II

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I'm surprised to see Back To The Future Part II is peoples' picks

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I was thinking a lot of Disney movies with multiple sequels like The Lion King would be a good addition.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars - the prequels. they were not BAD, Star Wars was original when it came out.

Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull. Harrison Ford's Life Alert pendant was too distracting. Not a Shia LeBouf fan at all.

Lord Of The Rings - The Hobbit. a Three hour movie could have covered the entire book.

Alien - Hmm, 3 or 4. its tough to decide. I do not consider Prometheus to be in the same group.

Predator - There was more than one? Any that followed the first.

Terminator - 3. Rise of the Machines. Don't think I ever finished it.

RoboCop - 2+

Star Trek - The new ones. Bad cinematography, and strayed from Rodenberry's vision.

James Bond - I have not seen them all.

Jurassic Park - 3 definitely

Batman - Batman and robin. Hands down.

Superman - Brandon Routh one. Same reason as Star Trek, strayed from what superman is.

X-Men - First Class.

Spider-Man - Amazing Spider Man. The First 3 were enjoyable. (of those three, the third is the worst. Although I liked it, I did not like the Peter's best friend becoming an enemy storyline).

Iron Man - 3 definitely. RDJ acted like he did not want to be there.

Hulk - Don't remember much about the Original hulk TV movie. Going to go with Erica Bana's Hulk

Transformers - Shia LeBouf again? Ugh

Rambo - Only saw first one

Rocky - Did not see the newer ones. (5 and 6?)

The Godfather - Never could sit through them

Die Hard - Worst of the group? I guess 5. Same reason as Crystal Skull

Lethal Weapon - Don't recall. The one with the toilet bomb.

Back To The Future - Bad one? the old west one I guess. But it was still pretty good.

Planet Of The Apes - Never was really a fan of the originals. The remake was awesome. Helena Bonham Carter, was one Hot monkey!

Nice Thread. List is a little long though and spans SO many years, 1960s to today I am surprised that so many people have seen all of the movies on the list.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Thanks, I always enjoy these quiz-like topics :) It's surprising sometimes what people reply with.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

A series I remembered not having seen yet are the Highlander films. Opinions are usually pretty split on which of the sequels is the worst.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Also remembered the Jack Ryan, Jason Bourne, Scorpion King and Riddick films.

I saw the new RoboCop recently and it surprisingly wasn't too bad, RoboCop 3 is still the worst, IMO.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I remembered the Ocean's films as well, yet to see any of them.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Because I have so little use for so many of these franchises, I'll answer them all but use three asterisks (***) to mark the ones I can actually answer in the spirit of your question, to save you some time.

Star Wars - I suspect I'll take flak for this, but I've seen three of these and hated them all, so I passed on the prequels.

Indiana Jones - Only saw one of them.

Lord Of The Rings - Never saw any of these, no interest.

Alien - The first one was the only one I saw.

Predator - The first one was great, had no use for the others, but can't really pick a weakest one.

Terminator - The one with the female terminator.

RoboCop - I only saw the original.

Star Trek - The fifth one. ***

James Bond - Licence to Kill ***

Jurassic Park - Never saw any of these.

Batman - I haven't seen them all, I've been told the Clooney one with Schwarzenegger was the worst by miles, but I can't imagine that it could be worse than that crappy one with DeVito as the Penguin. That was horrible. I still feel violated.

Superman - Never saw any of these.

X-Men - Never saw any of these.

Spider-Man - Never saw any of these.

Iron Man - Never saw any of these.

Hulk - Never saw any of these. To hear my office mates tell it, the Ang Lee one is the winner by miles, but I can't speak to it myself.

Transformers - Never saw any of these. By now you're probably picking up on a trend: I have no real use for superhero movies.

Rambo - Rambo III ***

Rocky - Rocky V ***

The Godfather - The third one. I've never met anyone who thought differently.

Die Hard - The third one. Not a bad movie on its own, I suppose, but not worthy of the franchise. I should say, however, that I haven't seen the most recent one.

Lethal Weapon - The fourth one. Too preachy.

Back To The Future - I saw the original in the theater but never saw it again and never saw the sequels.

Planet Of The Apes - Never saw any of these.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Those are a lot of major ones you've yet to see.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Those are a lot of major ones you've yet to see.

True, but I probably won't. I'm well into my fifties and lost my interest in blockbuster movies a couple decades ago. I'm just more of a TV guy than a movie guy these days.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I finally got around to seeing The Incredible Hulk (from 2008). I really liked it. I've finally seen all the MCU films and have a hard time picking a least favorite from any of them as I think all have been top-notch.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars - Return of the Jedi...... Carrie Fisher looking embarrassed in that skimpy outfit, a rehash of the death star scenario because they couldn't think of anything better, the ewoks who were so annoying with those helium-voices that by the end I was rooting for the empire so that they could exterminate those little vermin, that awkward embarrassing scene at the end, it goes on and on.

Indiana Jones .... loved the first one but the second was so disappointing that I didn't watch any more.

Lord Of The Rings ..... all were good but in my opinion the weakest was the Return of the King. My main complaint was that having the ghost army win the field so completely and easily kind of made all of the sacrifices that went before seem kind of fruitless.

Alien ......... without a doubt Alien*3. The Alien vs Predator movies were all lame but at least they were mildly entertaining, as was Alien Resurection. Alien and Aliens were by far the best, Prometheus was OK. But Alien*3 was nothing but an extremely lame and unsuccessful attempt to reboot Alien, with none of the same suspense, acting, creepiness, and solid storyline. And it was stupid to totally diss the entire events of Aliens by killing off Newt before the opening credits finished rolling.

Predator ..... only the first one was good. the rest are equally bad.

Terminator ..... the one with the female terminator. It was a step back from the terminator in Terminator*2 who seemed far more powerful.

RoboCop .... haven't seen any other than the first one.

Star Trek ..... ST V....... a steaming pile of sh*t. Kirk, Spock, McCoy singing around the campfire says it all. Lame, Lame, Lame in every respect.

James Bond ..... anything with Pierce Brosnan is tied for the worst. Bond was declining steadily after Connery left and only was revived by the arrival of Daniel Craig.

Jurassic Park ........ the last one. Like many franchises, the original was the most creative and original; and it was all downhill thereafter.

Batman ........ the one with George Clooney. Worst Batman ever. Even Adam West was better.

Superman ..... Superman III. Absolutely dreadful. Richard Pryor? Really?!?!

X-Men ..... X-Men 3

Spider-Man ... haven't seen enough of them.

Iron Man ..... Iron Man 3....... another example of a franchise going downhill after a promising start.

Hulk ....... haven't seen enough of them.

Transformers ......... they all reek.

Rambo ........ they all reek.

Rocky ...... haven't seen the last two. Rocky 4 was the weakest of the first 4.

The Godfather ....... haven't seen them all.

Die Hard ......... haven't seen them all.

Lethal Weapon ........ haven't seen them all.

Back To The Future ...... The third one was weakest.

Planet Of The Apes ........ haven't seen enough.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

I quite liked X-Men: DOFP, definitely not the worst of the series by a long shot, IMO.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Transformers: AOE wasn't too bad, I still feel the original is the most boring of the series.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

The Expendables 3 will be out soon and from people who've seen the recently leaked copy online, it's overwhelmingly agreed to be the worst

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Star Wars - Episode I

Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull

Lord Of The Rings - Fellowship

Alien - Resurrection

Predator - AVP2

Terminator - Salvation

RoboCop - Robocop 3

Star Trek - ST09

James Bond - Casino Royale

Jurassic Park - JP3

Batman - Batman Begins

Superman - Superman IV

X-Men - Origins Wolverine

Spider-Man - Spiderman 3

Iron Man - Iron Man 2

Hulk - Hulk

Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen

Rambo - Rambo III

Rocky - Rocky V

The Godfather - The Godfather

Die Hard - A Good Day to Die Hard

Lethal Weapon - Lethal Weapon 4

Back To The Future - Impossible to say, so... 4

Planet Of The Apes - The Burton one

The new TMNT movie wasn't too bad (IMO 3 is still the worst) and The Expendables 3 wasn't too bad, either. I actually think I prefer EX3 to the first but not the second.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Binge-watched all of the Fast And Furious movies and saw the most recent one. I honestly found the original to be the weakest, it's not bad but kinda forgettable and bland overall. I felt the sequels were more entertaining and did the concept better.

Re: OT - Worst/Weakest/Least Favorite Movie In a Series

Jurassic World is out in two weeks, should be interesting to see where it's rated among the rest. People are still split on The Lost World or JP3 as the weakest.

Those seem more like your favorites of those series.
